This will be one of many comments asking this, but please do Ash Vs Evil Dead. Evil Dead sets the horror, Evil Dead 2 sets the comedy, Army of Darkness sets up Ash's character and Ash Vs Evil Dead puts them all together making one of the greatest TV series ever made. Thanks for the awesome uploads.
If you liked this then I recommend Bubba Hotep and My Name is Bruce. He plays Elvis in a retirement home who has to fight an evil mummy. In My Name is Bruce he plays himself and gets drug into a fight with evil because the townsfolk thinks he is the Ash Williams from the movies.
This was my first introduction to Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi. My mom said I couldn’t see it since it was rated R. A friend and I bought tickets to a different movie and snuck into Army of Darkness. Changed my life forever!
The end of the original story is actually the Ash vs Evil Dead series that takes place 30 years after the movie. Definitely my favorite section of the original storyline and I highly recommend it, even if it's not for youtube
Because it's pure chaos with ensuing hilarity. But also, Ash is a superhero (kinda) in this one. A reluctant superhero for sure, but a superhero. Plus, the lines in here are gold Mostly, though. It's Fun. You can tell they had fun making it just so we could join in. My favorite of the three without a doubt
Rumor was that the studio more or less demanded another sequel, but Sam Raimi really didn't want to do it. When he saw the budget, he more or less said Eff it, let's go so far over the top and spend every dime they approve...and he gave us Army of Darkness!
"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun." Best line in the movie! 😎 Fun Fact: S-Mart is a teal chain of grocery stores in Mexico. Ted Raimi Cameos Fact: The cowardly warrior who doesn't want to die, the man who shouts "you can count on my steel" to Ash (Bruce Campbell), the swordsman with an eye-patch, and the S-Mart store clerk are all the same man. Automobile Fact: During filming the Oldsmobile Delta 88 falling out of the sky was shot twice. During the first attempt, the 25-ton crane lifting the car failed due to mechanical problems and toppled over the edge of a cliff at the quarry location where filming was taking place. Fortunately, no injuries occurred because the crane operator jumped from the cab before the crane went over the edge. Days later a larger 80-ton crane was brought in to remove the damaged crane and re-shoot the car drop. In the final edit, elements of the re-shoot as well as footage from the end of Evil Dead II (1987) were used.
So Glad you loved this, J! This was Bruce Campbell and his buds, the Raimi Brothers (Sam, Ivan, and Ted) finally getting a chance to make their big screen homage to The Three Stooges, who were a major inspiration to the boys if you couldn't tell. But the story doesn't end here. You have to watch the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series to see what happens next! You won't be disappointed!
Glad to see you watched the superior edit JL. AoD was a pretty regular rewatch for me. It's a great blend of medieval action, monster mayhem, and slapstick hilarity. The voice over for the skeletons always has me laughing through the ending. How do skeletons play a flute with no lips?! 🤣🤣🤣 "Let's get the hell out of here!!!"
@@LA_HA Because it lasted only 1 season and had a low number of viewers. Which I was one of. His side kick played Sho Nuff the Shogun of Harlem in the Last Dragon.
I love how the OG trilogy progresses. The first movie is straight horror, with some darkly funny moments sprinkled in; second movie is like the perfect blend of horror and dark comedy; third is just a straight up action-comedy, with some horror elements still there.
@@Thane36425 yeah, by the time of Army of Darkness he’s practically reached “Joker” level of insanity, to where he actually enjoys fighting the Evil Dead
There is an alternate ending to this movie which is more like the ending to Evil Dead 2. In the alternate ending Ash seals himself and the wreck of his car in a cave, then settles down to drink the potion; he loses count of how many drops he has taken and takes one too many, and when he awakens he comes out of the cave to find a post apocalyptic ruined city and he screams "I SLEPT TOO LONG!".
Hail to the King baby! "Well hello Mr. Fancy Pants! I got news for you, pal. You ain't leading but two things right now. Jack and shit, and Jack left town!"
Maniac Cop is a stellar Bruce Campbell 80's horror gem. Its an always moving slasher film with a packed cast, stellar cinematography & a damn solid sequel.
There's a second version of this movie called "Army of Darkness: Bootleg Edition". Changes are minor, save for the ending, which I think Bruce Campbell preferred. They also replaced, "Good, bad...I'm the guy with the gun" with, "I'm not *that* good." Or maybe that was the other way around...
Now you gotta watch the TV series, which continues from this one. Ash vs Evil Dead is pretty damn amazing, as it's a nice mix of all 3 styles the movies had. 2 would definitely win my favorite one, but Army wins my heart for it's over use of effects. They literally went all out with this one, and it's definitely the most fun. Great reaction!
My favorite actor in one of my favorite movies. I've seen this at midnight showings more than once, big popcorn in one hand, drink in the other, dead-center of the front row. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Is that why it's awesome? Absolutely.
Now ya gotta add the Netflix series Ash vs Evil Dead to the list. Amazing series for those who enjoy the Evil Dead series. Also, this has to be a record for "STFU" on this channel, J.
IMO the show Ash vs Evil Dead is the best of the franchise. Only 30 episodes over 3 seasons, would love to see it on this channel, perhaps part of slasher saturday
I know you don't do TV shows, but you gotta check out Ash vs Evil Dead. It is such a treat, and the episodes are shorter than typical TV shows. 20-30 minutes instead of 40-50 minutes.
I can watch ED2&Army back2back on a endless loop. I love that Army is one of the most quotable films out there. J, I see you finally found your Spaceballs shirt, NICE!
I swear if this movie got the PG-13 rating it deserved (the cartoonish violence in this was totally suitable for teens) and the marketing wasn't so terrible, this would have been such a bigger hit than it was. It's definitely iconic for a reason, and Sam Raimi directs the HELL out of it. Hands down my favorite Bruce Campbell performance (next to his Elvis in Bubba Ho-Tep, another underrated gem).
There were talks about doing a Jason vs. Freddy vs. Ash Movie back when FvJ came out. Based off the comics. Too bad they never did it. That would’ve been epic

I still wish they went with the director's cut alternative ending where Ash messed up and slept an extra century and woke up in the ruins of the future
There really was an S-Mart chain of stores in the early 80's. I worked at the warehouse in Richmond Ky. But it went bankrupt a few years later. A couple of brothers owned it, named Rosen I think
The movie that made Ash/Bruce Campbell an absolute legend! I know you only react to movies but if you liked this one then you'd love the "Ash vs Evil Dead" TV show, even if you only watch it in your own time.

Do you prefer The Evil Dead (Horror), Evil Dead 2 (Horror/Comedy) or Army of Darkness (Comedy) best?
The original trilogy is great.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
All 3 are dope but my favorite is Evil Dead 2 because it's funny but still has the gore like the 1st one.
Army of Darkness, Evil Dead 2, and then the og Evil Dead.
Evil Dead 2, AoD, ED 1. Also I know somewhere out there is a fan cut that properly combines all 3 films.
AoD

Nobody takes a beating like Ash.
His ability to take damage is somewhere between John Wick and Deadpool. 😂
