I find this medication helpful when I get what I call brain weary. When my memory doesn't seem to want to work as well as it should. I find 2-3 months on this medication helpful and I am right back to normal.
I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I take Co enzyme q10, D ribose, acetyl l carnitine and fish oils.. They work on the ATP energy system of the body and definitely help me x
I also have fibromyalgia and have taken CoQ10 for years after a heart attack, and heart damage. A pharmacist friend recommended it as it encourages muscle repair (the heart DOES repair itself but at only 2% per year). After 10 years on it, no heart damage is now detectable whereas before that it was as I'd had detectable damage. I started taking Curcumin after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitus and couldn't take the drugs prescribed. My G.P. suggested trying Curcumin as it is an anti inflammatory and it worked, it also greatly improved my fibromyalgia symptoms too.
I began taking CoQ10 several months ago after watching YOUR RUclips and that of Dr. Sanjay Gupta (York, England) on the subject. Went to my cardiologist for a check-up today and informed him, and his remark was, "Excellent ! How did you find out about CoQ10?" At which point I put in a plug for your channel and that of Dr. Gupta... ☺ Thank you for all you do for us, Dr. Sam ! Greetings from Pennsylvania in the US.
Dear @Dr. Sam Bailey Thank you very much for your talk on CoQ10 and Statins. Statins are a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, this enzyme is part of the mevalonate pathway and by inhibiting this enzyme, both cholesterol and also the production of Ubiquinon is inhibited, this leads to a reduction in CoQ10. Hence when someone does take a statin there is also a corresponding reduction in the levels of CoQ10. If you look at the mevalonate pathway it is interesting to see that the inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase causes also the inhibition of Farnesyl PP, from Farnesyl PP it branches off to form either cholesterol, Heme A, Ubiquinon these are required for the electron chain to work effectively to generate ATP - hence when someone is on statins they can feel fatigued - as well as and Prenylated Proteins. So, following on - if the electron chain is not functioning properly there can be a decrease in aerobic metabolism which can result in the cytoplasmic reduction and shunting of pyruvate to lactate, which is required to replenish NAD+ that is required to generate ATP - see Krebs Cycle. CoQ10 has many roles within the body, these roles include helping to reduce reactive oxidative stress through its antioxidant effects and participation in mitochondrial respiration. So - by preventing mitochondrial dysfunction CoQ10 can help to reduce statin induced myopathy by helping to replenish the electron transfer chain to help generate ATP. Thanks Kevin
I've took coenzyme q10 with high dosage 400mg daily and the result was unbelievable, i got younger face and energetic body from the second week , but the doctor recommended to reduce the dosage from 400mg till 100mg as he said this is the safe one , and i recommend anyone not to take it at night ,cause you'll never sleep...
@@gracegwozdz8185 That is good advice. When my new cardiologist (original one retired) noticed I was taking Losartan, he said he didn't really like the drug, but told me to continue taking it anyway. I asked myself, "What kind of doctor would ever say such an inane thing to a patient?" This is why I plan to change cardiologists. Like vehicles, doctors are not all the same.
Just letting you know I’m on atravastatin and I ached all in my joints. I started COQ10 and with in 1 month those aches were gone. They work with statins no doubt.
I was put on a Statin 6 months' ago and changed from Crestor to Aspavor, the lowest dose as I found I felt the Crestor was making me feel unusually fatigued. Knowing myself well I was able to figure that the fatigue had nothing to do with anything other than the start of taking a Statin. I gave it a few months and was about to change to yet another Statin hoping for better results. It was my pharmacist who listened to me and recommended I take CoQ10 with my Statin every day. After only 2 weeks I feel I am bouncing back to my normal energy levels. Strange that GP doctors are not aware of this over the shelf medicine.
Your a very knowledgeable doctor in my opinion. Also the prettiest doctor I’ve seen. If you were my doctor I would be looking forward to a doctors visit.
I started taking COQ10 probably sometime after my triple bypass in 2001 at the age of 40. I learned about adding this supplement from reading Dr Stephen Sinatra's book: "Reversing Heart Disease Now." I take 300mg of COQ10 twice a day (for several years). (Before discovering the 300 mg Kirkland brand at Costco, I was taking 200mg twice a day for many years. I don't remember why I'm taking COQ10 twice a day. Perhaps, it was from Dr Sinatra's book.) I have not noticed any particular side effects from COQ10. My blood tests have not shown any particular effects on my liver enzymes. (My only other major supplement is vitamin C 2000mg twice a day also for many years.Yes, I am taking daily blood pressure and cholesterol medication.) Thank you for your terrific informative videos, Dr Sam. I liked most about this video is your wonderful smile and lovely NZ accent. Will be looking to learn more in your other videos.
Thanks for this informative presentation. I have been taking COQ10 for several years now since I am also taking a statin. Had a heart problem about 15 years ago resulting in placement of two stents. Now age 80 and still quite active. (have a full head of brown hair too!)
@@sittowardi6781 My hair or lack thereof has nothing to do with anything in the world. But I can brag just a little bit, can't I? (that's all I got left)
Thanks, Dr. Sam, i have been taking CQ10 for quite a while , with a suggestion from a pharmacist friend since I take Lipitor for controlling my cholesterol level , but I never quite know what it ( CQ10)does. Now you answered the question that I had in my mind for years. Thank you.
I have been taking 100mg of Ubiquinol since 2004 (after a heart attack) I have read many research papers on it. I believe, but cannot prove, that it has been very beneficial and has in fact slowed the aging process as I now appear quite a bit younger than my age in years. It as certainly contributed to bringing by blood pressure under control. I am prescibed 20mg of Atorvastatin and have had no side effects at all whilst also being on Q10. Dr. Sam you presentation on this subject is superb and covers the topic very well. The only new thing I have learned is that taking it in the evening is not advised because it can cause sleep disturbances, thank you for that. As an aside, I had a consultation with an experienced cardiologist for monitoring and Coenzyme Q10 was on the list of meds I take. He said " I have never heard of it" unbelievable! Thank you for your videos which are superbly presented very well informed and very helpful .
Very informative ! A friend supplemented Co Q10 for elderly mother with congestive heart failure. But that was 30 years ago. It's value is becoming better known.

Great info! After my H.A. at 54, I was taking “blood thinners”, Atorvastatin/Lipitor for 2 years, then I switched to Warfarin for another 2 years, my liver and cramps in my legs got so bad, that I quit taking this “stuff”, and I was active in various sports. Since quitting statins, I started taking Q10 for almost 15 years, also taking Red Yeast Rice supplement, and a lot of other basic vitamins. My cholesterol and triglycerides are fine now, with good nutrition diet combined. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🌹🙏
Just found your channel and i am in love!!! You have such an intoxicating smile and attitude! Blessed you are and all people around you!, I am so gelous! All the best! x
I always felt terrible taking statins even with an adequate amount of CoQ10. I saw a Dr. Greger vid on amla berry extract tablets and whamo! my LDL dropped 30%+ to between 78-88, HDL increased to 45 and total cholesteral is 145. This was 2 years ago and I have been taking it since with 0 side effects. No dark moods, joint aches, edginess etc. as with statins.
My heart has an extra beat and I feel it as a flutter. It’s worse as I am nodding off, and it wakes me suddenly. I started taking 100mg of coq10 and magnesium each day and my heart issues stopped the next day!! I could not believe it. I told my sister who also has heart issues, palpitations etc. she had tried everything, but took 200mg a day and her symptoms have disappeared also!! It’s unbelievable! So happy I found this supplement. My doctor would never have recommended it!
I started taking Q10 shortly after being on Statins, because of information that I came across describing the increase in probability of heart failure, because Statins deplete body Q10 stores.
Statin caused severe muscle cramps. Started CoQ10 and cramps went from a habitual 9 to an occasional 1. Tried stopping CoQ10 and cramps came back with a vengeance. Back on CoQ10 for about 10 years. No side effect.
Since i take CoQ10 my healthy was so good and better than before. Im had vertigo very bad and always feel lose energy. But now i feel much2 better. Thanks sharing this Dr😘
*Oops! I meant to add that a discussion on leg cramps would be helpful. I do know there are 'go-to' treatments for this, such as potassium, neurontin, etc.~ yet, I know of a few people- myself included- that have had little to no relief from the usual treatments/suggestions. For myself, it's not the standard, charley-horse in the calf type cramp. I will get severe, debilitating cramps down the side of my shin bone, sides of my thigh, (feels deep in, next to bone?), tops of my feet or balls of feet. Straightening out does nothing. Ice packs are the only relief so far. I'm starting to wonder if it's more of a tendon or nerve issue, rather than actual muscle cramps? Pain level is off the chart/cannot speak/panic type of pain, when they do come. My husband runs for the ice pack, & they subside within 15-30 minutes- usually. Sometimes up to an hour. Literally feels like tying up in knots- sometimes visual.
I suffer from degenerate spine to Adult Scoliosis which creates neuropathy the aches/Charlie horse feeling from top of your hips down to feet toes. It’s AWFUL to say the least. SI injections, Neurontin or Lyrica plus I have a intrathecal pain pump, my wife tried Humira/Enbrel. Flare ups, sometimes if you feel like doing something then the next day you pay for it. Answer??? Eric Clapton was vaccinated with the Asra Zeneca and has developed burning in his hands /feet it’s a battle just to deal with it! Nerves are inflamed that’s what I get from my doctors. Hope you can find relief 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dr. Sam thank you for your upolads . Great info. Just wanted to say that Ubiquinol has helped me from day one as I noticed the difference straight away... I suffered from statin pain for almost a year although I have stopped the cholesterol medication due to the pain... People should never be using this statins meds... Ubiquinol helped to relieve pain straight away...It was gone... I swear by it... Just writing as to help others.
Great and very informative videos please keep it up. The definition of a vitamin requires that it be a necessary compound that must be obtained from the diet. Thus, Q is not a vitamin but that does not preclude the possibility of a deficiency. By the way, it was first isolated from 10,000 cow hearts which led to the early supposition of its involvement in energy transfer. Be well. A retired organic chemist.
Quite a few people on the internet say that statins lower coenzymeQ10 and testosterone as well so I have discussed this seriously with my endocrinologist who is a master phD physician and teacher for many years who assured me with the utmost confidence that coenzymeQ10 is not affected by statins. I'm all about healthy living in every possible way and only take medication when seriously needed.
Just found you. Thanks for the clear explanations. What about contradictions between lowdose of aspirin, and CoQ10, which I take together every day? Thanks for your reply.
Check with our doctors as to whether or not we take a supplement? But MOST doctors know NOTHING about supplements, feel threatened when they are asked, cannot answer our questions and usually end up telling us NOT to take them (because they'd rather put us on DRUGS). At least, THAT is MY experience. ByTheWay, I think you are just WONDERFUL.
Dr. Sam, I love your information and your presentation. One concern I have, not about you or the presentation, is that many physicians with whom I have worked either are not familiar with supplements or are resistant to recommending their use. I muddle along doing as much research as I can on the best supplements for me, but feel discouraged that I cannot find professional medical support. P.S. I live in the US. Could that be part of the problem?
Beef as a Carnivore diet means naturally I get Co-Q10 by eating heart & Liver and have Raw Meat 5 organ supplements. Post Covid You all should of awoken to the deadly agenda of Pharma by now; when you are still trusting their filthy assholes including your MD then your going to let them the wealthier destroy your life, hopes and then...you will drop dead!! Statins are known to cause Heart Attacks- eat meats & fats and the body will reset and function well without shit pharma toxins!
I've only just stumbled across your video. Wonderfully clear and informative. THANK YOU. Please don't be deterred by the stupidity of some comments. Unfortunately, that mentality finds it's way into even the most valuable of videos such as yours.

reduction in heart attacks if you take Statins is rubbish science . Proven to be more like 1per cent risk prevention !
I would like to see a vid on RELATIVE risk vs ABSOLUTE risk Mayo Clinic has a free evaluator on their site.
I find this medication helpful when I get what I call brain weary. When my memory doesn't seem to want to work as well as it should. I find 2-3 months on this medication helpful and I am right back to normal.
Your clear use of words in combination with tone of voice and facial expression is very nice, you’re very lucky and must be thankful to have those❤
CoQ10 seems to help my night sweats and hot flashes! Helped a lot.
Funny that your doctor knew about CoQ10. Ive had the same response from mine. Yeah they just push the pharma profits.
Dear @Dr. Sam Bailey
Thank you very much for your talk on CoQ10 and Statins.
Thanks
Kevin
Merck have a patent on a polypill combining a statin with Q10.
Your simplicity and the way you explained ,makes a 10yr kid understand. Luv from India.
A very nice 'bedside manner' you put serious information in a very comfortable way. Thank you.
Thank you, that is really kind Alex
I have learned way more here, from you than from my cardiologist.
@Mel Willard since 2005 when he put in a stent, he has kept me for dying, I’m not complaining.
TexasScout, your cardiologist has very little knowledge. Change him!
@@gracegwozdz8185 right, he save my life in 2005 and keeps me healthy until this day, I’ll be sure and do that right away.
Hmmm....I wouldn't be so happy to take that.
You weren't put on statins, you decided to take them.
Great video! The world needs more physicians that educate and just do not push pharmaceuticals. Thank you.
Looking and listening to you, makes my stress levels go down. Thank you.
Your a very knowledgeable doctor in my opinion. Also the prettiest doctor I’ve seen. If you were my doctor I would be looking forward to a doctors visit.
Hehe, thank you Stanly
Dr. Sam Bailey your welcome Doctor Sam and in my opinion it’s true.
Very nice info Doc. I have tried it for increasing exercise endurance. It worked great. Thanks
I'm Dr. Zulfiqar Mosvi. I like your videos.
Very informative
Honestly your smile is a good medicine for me Doc 😊😉
Thank you, that's really kind of you
Me too.
(My only other major supplement is vitamin C 2000mg twice a day also for many years.Yes, I am taking daily blood pressure and cholesterol medication.)
Thank you for your terrific informative videos, Dr Sam. I liked most about this video is your wonderful smile and lovely NZ accent. Will be looking to learn more in your other videos.
Hi, are you still taking 300mg q10 twice a day and 2000mg vitamin C twice a day? Thanks!
Thanks for this informative presentation. I have been taking COQ10 for several years now since I am also taking a statin. Had a heart problem about 15 years ago resulting in placement of two stents. Now age 80 and still quite active. (have a full head of brown hair too!)
What does your hair have to do with anything?
@@sittowardi6781 My hair or lack thereof has nothing to do with anything in the world. But I can brag just a little bit, can't I? (that's all I got left)
I think i am not the only one to be hypnotised by your smile and tone.
I use it and love it. I don’t take statin drugs (or any other drugs).
Rick, you are so smart!
Pennsylvania in the USA loves Dr Sam's presentations. They are quick-moving and highly informative. Thanks, Doc Sam !
Thanks, Dr. Sam, i have been taking CQ10 for quite a while , with a
suggestion from a pharmacist friend since I take Lipitor for controlling my cholesterol level , but I never quite know what it ( CQ10)does. Now you answered the question that I had in my mind for years. Thank you.
Oh great! I'm pleased to hear that
I have been taking 100mg of Ubiquinol since 2004 (after a heart attack) I have read many research papers on it.
@@boblatkey7160 And what evidence are you aware of for claiming that?
Ur smile is a complete therapy for the patients on statins... Ur smile and attitude a complete cell energizer rather taking co enzyme q10... ❤️
Very informative ! A friend supplemented Co Q10 for elderly mother with congestive heart failure. But that was 30 years ago. It's value is becoming better known.
I put my dad on MitoQ because he’s on statins. It’s made a huge difference to his life.
MsZumba, it's your dad's doc who should put your dad on MitoQ in the first place. He should be educated enough to do the right thing.
@@gracegwozdz8185 not many doctors follow functional medicine, sadly. And they won't, in my experience with my chronically ill daughter. You have to find the good doctors, and also to research for yourself. Sad but true.
I loved this video. You spoke slowly and gave honest answers to the many questions related to COQ10. My doctor has never even heard of coq10. Uggh
I was put on statins-felt like i'd been beaten up every day-bad muscle pains. Also started to feel very depressed.I took myself off them within a week!
How about your cholesterol without the medication?
I’d love Dr Sam for my doctor. She would be calming for my anxiety that I experience when I go to the doctor.
Maybe you shouldn't go to the doctor and listen to your gut feeling?
@@gracegwozdz8185 that’s not helpful.
All the best! x
Thank you so much!!
@@DrSamBailey i wish my family doctor is like u...u smile a lot,u have a bubbly nature and easy on eyes
At last a subject dealt with directly, instead of a 15 minute diatribe going around the issue. Top marks.
I enjoyed your Kiwi accent. Good info too!
You cheer us all up
Great Doctor wish all Doctors were like her!
Dr.sam... I would love to know your thoughts on collagen peptides 🙂❤ Good day
Useful information on how Co-Q-10 may affect liver enzymes at certain levels. Did not know that. Thank you.
Thank you, ma'am. I have sleep problems and will try to remember to take Ubiquinol earlier in the day. You are pleasantly informative.
I have to take it A.M. or get no sleep at night as it seems to add energy.
Definitely learned more than I knew, thanks.......BTW, love your New Zealand dialect!!!
Thank you! 😃
Ubiquinol is also an anti-aromatase, It stops the conversion of excess testosterone from being converted to estrogen. So it is great for men.
Thanks so much for your informative videos! (from a taker of 10mg of Atorvastatin and CoQ10)
Nice work!
Thank you Dr Sam ... the kiwi accent is the best as well.
Statin med is terrible, but what is the alternative when the cholesterol is way high?
Great and very informative videos please keep it up. The definition of a vitamin requires that it be a necessary compound that must be obtained from the diet. Thus, Q is not a vitamin but that does not preclude the possibility of a deficiency. By the way, it was first isolated from 10,000 cow hearts which led to the early supposition of its involvement in energy transfer. Be well. A retired organic chemist.
Thanks Dr. Sam for another great informative video. I’ve been waiting for this one for a while 😊.
My pleasure, a great topic to look into for me too 😀
Quite a few people on the internet say that statins lower coenzymeQ10 and testosterone as well so I have discussed this seriously with my endocrinologist who is a master phD physician and teacher for many years who assured me with the utmost confidence that coenzymeQ10 is not affected by statins.
I'm all about healthy living in every possible way and only take medication when seriously needed.
Would subscribe just to hear you say " qweestion" love it!

Thank you Dd Sam. Another great video. All the best wishes to you.
Same to you!
You are the most beautiful person in the world! I just love and adore your personality and smile!
Just found you. Thanks for the clear explanations. What about contradictions between lowdose of aspirin, and CoQ10, which I take together every day? Thanks for your reply.
Very informative. I had been taking it at night, I am going to switch up and try it in the morning. Thanks again.
May be you can guide us on renal functions, such as to improve our creatinine clearance etc
