I started taking COQ10 probably sometime after my triple bypass in 2001 at the age of 40. I learned about adding this supplement from reading Dr Stephen Sinatra's book: "Reversing Heart Disease Now." I take 300mg of COQ10 twice a day (for several years). (Before discovering the 300 mg Kirkland brand at Costco, I was taking 200mg twice a day for many years. I don't remember why I'm taking COQ10 twice a day. Perhaps, it was from Dr Sinatra's book.) I have not noticed any particular side effects from COQ10. My blood tests have not shown any particular effects on my liver enzymes. (My only other major supplement is vitamin C 2000mg twice a day also for many years.Yes, I am taking daily blood pressure and cholesterol medication.) Thank you for your terrific informative videos, Dr Sam. I liked most about this video is your wonderful smile and lovely NZ accent. Will be looking to learn more in your other videos.

I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I take Co enzyme q10, D ribose, acetyl l carnitine and fish oils.. They work on the ATP energy system of the body and definitely help me x
I also have fibromyalgia and have taken CoQ10 for years after a heart attack, and heart damage. A pharmacist friend recommended it as it encourages muscle repair (the heart DOES repair itself but at only 2% per year). After 10 years on it, no heart damage is now detectable whereas before that it was as I'd had detectable damage. I started taking Curcumin after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitus and couldn't take the drugs prescribed. My G.P. suggested trying Curcumin as it is an anti inflammatory and it worked, it also greatly improved my fibromyalgia symptoms too.

I began taking CoQ10 several months ago after watching YOUR RUclips and that of Dr. Sanjay Gupta (York, England) on the subject. Went to my cardiologist for a check-up today and informed him, and his remark was, "Excellent ! How did you find out about CoQ10?" At which point I put in a plug for your channel and that of Dr. Gupta... ☺ Thank you for all you do for us, Dr. Sam ! Greetings from Pennsylvania in the US.
I read the studies by University of TX in Austin and studies in Japan showed a 25% higher survival rate in people with congestive heart disease. I told that to a friend with CHD and he started taking 100 mg a day and he said he felt a little better and he lived much longer than they said he would. Indeed he was supposed to die 8 years ago and is still going. He still is restricted, but is definitely doing better than he used to. He said his cardiologist now prescribes CoQ10 to his patients.
Would it not be easier to give up Statins as they are proven to prevent the livers production of CQ10 . The advantage of taken Statins for preventing heart attacks has also been discredited and the Drug companies exaggerated risk analysis of 50 percent reduction in heart attacks if you take Statins is rubbish science . Proven to be more like 1per cent risk prevention !
Your a very knowledgeable doctor in my opinion. Also the prettiest doctor I’ve seen. If you were my doctor I would be looking forward to a doctors visit.
I have been taking 100mg of Ubiquinol since 2004 (after a heart attack) I have read many research papers on it. I believe, but cannot prove, that it has been very beneficial and has in fact slowed the aging process as I now appear quite a bit younger than my age in years. It as certainly contributed to bringing by blood pressure under control. I am prescibed 20mg of Atorvastatin and have had no side effects at all whilst also being on Q10. Dr. Sam you presentation on this subject is superb and covers the topic very well. The only new thing I have learned is that taking it in the evening is not advised because it can cause sleep disturbances, thank you for that. As an aside, I had a consultation with an experienced cardiologist for monitoring and Coenzyme Q10 was on the list of meds I take. He said " I have never heard of it" unbelievable! Thank you for your videos which are superbly presented very well informed and very helpful .
Great info! After my H.A. at 54, I was taking “blood thinners”, Atorvastatin/Lipitor for 2 years, then I switched to Warfarin for another 2 years, my liver and cramps in my legs got so bad, that I quit taking this “stuff”, and I was active in various sports. Since quitting statins, I started taking Q10 for almost 15 years, also taking Red Yeast Rice supplement, and a lot of other basic vitamins. My cholesterol and triglycerides are fine now, with good nutrition diet combined. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🌹🙏
You have the greatest way of sharing your knowledge in every video. It's hard not to watch every one of them. I am forever subscribed to your channel. Thank you, Dr. Sam.
@@gracegwozdz8185 That is good advice. When my new cardiologist (original one retired) noticed I was taking Losartan, he said he didn't really like the drug, but told me to continue taking it anyway. I asked myself, "What kind of doctor would ever say such an inane thing to a patient?" This is why I plan to change cardiologists. Like vehicles, doctors are not all the same.
My heart has an extra beat and I feel it as a flutter. It’s worse as I am nodding off, and it wakes me suddenly. I started taking 100mg of coq10 and magnesium each day and my heart issues stopped the next day!! I could not believe it. I told my sister who also has heart issues, palpitations etc. she had tried everything, but took 200mg a day and her symptoms have disappeared also!! It’s unbelievable! So happy I found this supplement. My doctor would never have recommended it!
I have been taking a statin for years and have had muscle pain all along. But when my doc increased the dose the pain was much worse all over my body. I told her about it and she said take Tylenol ,you have arthritis. a friend told me about Coq10 so i started taking 200mg a day and within a month i have noticed a big difference. I have about 90% less pain and so much more energy. The only thing is my sleeping time is less , but i feel so much better. Why don't doctors tell their patients about coq10?
BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SELL PHARMACEUTICALS!!! (THAT'S WHY YOUR DR. DID NOT TELL YOU ABOUT CoQ10) YOU MAY NOT NEED YOUR STATINS! THERE MAY BE BETTER WAYS FOR YOU! I GOT OFF MY STATINS! MY RESULTS HAVE AMAZED MY DOCTOR! THEN I CHANGED DOCTORS!!!
Check with our doctors as to whether or not we take a supplement? But MOST doctors know NOTHING about supplements, feel threatened when they are asked, cannot answer our questions and usually end up telling us NOT to take them (because they'd rather put us on DRUGS). At least, THAT is MY experience. ByTheWay, I think you are just WONDERFUL.
Dr. Sam thank you for your upolads . Great info. Just wanted to say that Ubiquinol has helped me from day one as I noticed the difference straight away... I suffered from statin pain for almost a year although I have stopped the cholesterol medication due to the pain... People should never be using this statins meds... Ubiquinol helped to relieve pain straight away...It was gone... I swear by it... Just writing as to help others.

Very informative ! A friend supplemented Co Q10 for elderly mother with congestive heart failure. But that was 30 years ago. It's value is becoming better known.
Thanks, Dr. Sam, i have been taking CQ10 for quite a while , with a suggestion from a pharmacist friend since I take Lipitor for controlling my cholesterol level , but I never quite know what it ( CQ10)does. Now you answered the question that I had in my mind for years. Thank you.
I was put on a Statin 6 months' ago and changed from Crestor to Aspavor, the lowest dose as I found I felt the Crestor was making me feel unusually fatigued. Knowing myself well I was able to figure that the fatigue had nothing to do with anything other than the start of taking a Statin. I gave it a few months and was about to change to yet another Statin hoping for better results. It was my pharmacist who listened to me and recommended I take CoQ10 with my Statin every day. After only 2 weeks I feel I am bouncing back to my normal energy levels. Strange that GP doctors are not aware of this over the shelf medicine.
Quite a few people on the internet say that statins lower coenzymeQ10 and testosterone as well so I have discussed this seriously with my endocrinologist who is a master phD physician and teacher for many years who assured me with the utmost confidence that coenzymeQ10 is not affected by statins. I'm all about healthy living in every possible way and only take medication when seriously needed.
Great and very informative videos please keep it up. The definition of a vitamin requires that it be a necessary compound that must be obtained from the diet. Thus, Q is not a vitamin but that does not preclude the possibility of a deficiency. By the way, it was first isolated from 10,000 cow hearts which led to the early supposition of its involvement in energy transfer. Be well. A retired organic chemist.
Statin caused severe muscle cramps. Started CoQ10 and cramps went from a habitual 9 to an occasional 1. Tried stopping CoQ10 and cramps came back with a vengeance. Back on CoQ10 for about 10 years. No side effect.
Thanks for this informative presentation. I have been taking COQ10 for several years now since I am also taking a statin. Had a heart problem about 15 years ago resulting in placement of two stents. Now age 80 and still quite active. (have a full head of brown hair too!)

Thanks to video such as yours, I stumble upon important information, such as this. One MUST be proactive in their health areas. I was shocked because either of my primary physicians, didn't advise me to take CoQ10, knowing that the statins were lowering it! Once, I had severe leg cramps all the way to my hips; like being paralyzed with extreme pain and couldn't move! . I was thinking about calling the ambulance for a trip to the hospital. My sister prayed for me, I asked for some mustard and after a few minutes the extreme pain subsided. I asked my doctor to what may have cause the problem? Her reply was that she didn't know. I started taking Curcumin after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitus and couldn't take the drugs prescribed. My G.P. suggested trying Curcumin as it is an anti inflammatory and it worked, it also greatly improved my fibromyalgia symptoms too.
When you’re old and take a cocktail of medications your advice site is priceless.
So far you are my FAVORITE Doctor in the whole world! Informative, honest, helpful and you make your videos fun to watch. Thanks for all that you do, and please keep up the great work. You are my #1 go-to source to find out the TRUTH about medications and medical treatments. ❤️
Great video! The world needs more physicians that educate and just do not push pharmaceuticals. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 Dr. Sam... You are a blessing to a lot of people stuck inside... Your format is light, happy and those cutaways are always spot on.
Edit: You have a wonderful sense of humor... Stay well doctor... Keep safe... God Bless...
keep safe from what? why is everyone saying stay safe these days? is it to do with the made up covid that was designed to keep us inour place ,stop us from seeing even our familys and each other? if you are brainwashed by covid then look up 'the great reset'
Funny that your doctor knew about CoQ10. Ive had the same response from mine. Yeah they just push the pharma profits.
A friend of mine in Canada was told by his cardiologist the same; he's still kicking!
Great Doctor wish all Doctors were like her!
I have cramps at night in my shins, CoQ10 has relieved those completely.
Would it not be easier to give up Statins as they are proven to prevent the livers production of CQ10 .
The advantage of taken Statins for preventing heart attacks has also been
discredited and the Drug companies exaggerated risk analysis of 50 percent
reduction in heart attacks if you take Statins is rubbish science . Proven to be more like 1per cent risk prevention !
I would like to see a vid on RELATIVE risk vs ABSOLUTE risk Mayo Clinic has a free evaluator on their site.
Ur smile is a complete therapy for the patients on statins... Ur smile and attitude a complete cell energizer rather taking co enzyme q10... ❤️
Your a very knowledgeable doctor in my opinion. Also the prettiest doctor I’ve seen. If you were my doctor I would be looking forward to a doctors visit.
Hehe, thank you Stanly
Dr. Sam Bailey your welcome Doctor Sam and in my opinion it’s true.
I use it and love it. I don’t take statin drugs (or any other drugs).
Rick, you are so smart!
@@boblatkey7160 And what evidence are you aware of for claiming that?
I love the way you inform people in the most simple and easy to understand manner - you have a real gift thank you
What a lovely compliment, thank you
Thank you for explaining the CQ10 mystery! Now ,this supplement is a good treatment over statin!
take two gloves of carlic not chewing and berbern with apple cider vinger daily ...
some Q10 has nictone in it ...you believe it or not
I think i am not the only one to be hypnotised by your smile and tone.
Very nice info Doc. I have tried it for increasing exercise endurance. It worked great. Thanks
I loved this video. You spoke slowly and gave honest answers to the many questions related to COQ10. My doctor has never even heard of coq10. Uggh
You have the greatest way of sharing your knowledge in every video. It's hard not to watch every one of them. I am forever subscribed to your channel. Thank you, Dr. Sam.
Thank you Dr Sam ... the kiwi accent is the best as well.
A very nice 'bedside manner' you put serious information in a very comfortable way. Thank you.
Thank you, that is really kind Alex
Useful information on how Co-Q-10 may affect liver enzymes at certain levels. Did not know that. Thank you.
I have learned way more here, from you than from my cardiologist.
@Mel Willard since 2005 when he put in a stent, he has kept me for dying, I’m not complaining.
TexasScout, your cardiologist has very little knowledge. Change him!
@@gracegwozdz8185 right, he save my life in 2005 and keeps me healthy until this day, I’ll be sure and do that right away.
I take my q10 in the morning so it won’t mess with your sleep.
Magnesium really helps me with leg w/such cramps!
Coq10 is not a prescription drug they won't earn from it, also you should start seeking alternative to statin
@@jpval3484 what is alternative to statin?
I hate it, but when I stopped it my cholesterol level went way high.
Statin med is terrible, but what is the alternative when the cholesterol is way high?
Dr Sam nice to see you back🌹❤
Dr Sam you are so pretty 🥰
Dr sam I take CoQ-10 And I could tell you some amazing things , like after two weeks talking CoQ-10 I become very young looking with beautiful skin.😳
Next after takeing CoQ-10 I find out my energy levels started gose up and I feel great.
Next because I now the CoQ-10 is a powerful antioxidants the help get ride those free radical , then you could understand why energy would go up.because the body is full of free radical once they gorn your energy will start gose up and the way I I because young looking .😳I am in the city of London 🌹
I’d love Dr Sam for my doctor. She would be calming for my anxiety that I experience when I go to the doctor.
Maybe you shouldn't go to the doctor and listen to your gut feeling?
@@gracegwozdz8185 that’s not helpful.
Very informative ! A friend supplemented Co Q10 for elderly mother with congestive heart failure. But that was 30 years ago. It's value is becoming better known.
Thanks, Dr. Sam, i have been taking CQ10 for quite a while , with a
suggestion from a pharmacist friend since I take Lipitor for controlling my cholesterol level , but I never quite know what it ( CQ10)does. Now you answered the question that I had in my mind for years. Thank you.
Oh great! I'm pleased to hear that
At last a subject dealt with directly, instead of a 15 minute diatribe going around the issue. Top marks.
You weren't put on statins, you decided to take them.
Honestly your smile is a good medicine for me Doc 😊😉
Thank you, that's really kind of you
Me too.
Pennsylvania in the USA loves Dr Sam's presentations. They are quick-moving and highly informative. Thanks, Doc Sam !
I was put on statins-felt like i'd been beaten up every day-bad muscle pains. Also started to feel very depressed.I took myself off them within a week!
How about your cholesterol without the medication?
Great and very informative videos please keep it up. The definition of a vitamin requires that it be a necessary compound that must be obtained from the diet. Thus, Q is not a vitamin but that does not preclude the possibility of a deficiency. By the way, it was first isolated from 10,000 cow hearts which led to the early supposition of its involvement in energy transfer. Be well. A retired organic chemist.
Looking and listening to you, makes my stress levels go down. Thank you.
What does your hair have to do with anything?
@@sittowardi6781 My hair or lack thereof has nothing to do with anything in the world. But I can brag just a little bit, can't I? (that's all I got left)
Q,,10 ,can make skin beautiful ,and lots of energy .I took Q10 amazing supplements .I'm in London , nice to see you doctor sam 🌹❤
Thank you, ma'am. I have sleep problems and will try to remember to take Ubiquinol earlier in the day. You are pleasantly informative.
I have to take it A.M. or get no sleep at night as it seems to add energy.
I had been on Atorvastatin since 2010. I was unaware of needing the supplement of CoQ10, when taking the lowering cholesterol drug. Again, thanks for your informative video, which have helped a lot of people. Keep up the good work. I am a subscriber too :) May 23, 2021 Sunday
I put my dad on MitoQ because he’s on statins. It’s made a huge difference to his life.
MsZumba, it's your dad's doc who should put your dad on MitoQ in the first place. He should be educated enough to do the right thing.
@@gracegwozdz8185 not many doctors follow functional medicine, sadly. And they won't, in my experience with my chronically ill daughter. You have to find the good doctors, and also to research for yourself. Sad but true.

I'm smitten by your charm Dr. Sam, and the result...i feel rejuvenated & happy amidst the problems the world has experiencing..
I enjoyed your Kiwi accent. Good info too!
I didn't know it helped with muscle aches and I definitely didn't know that statins could cause them. Didn't know I should take them during the day. I have trouble sleeping. 🤦 Very informative, and relayed very well. I wasn't bored, and dr had a pleasant, easy listening voice.
I started taking Q10 shortly after being on Statins, because of information that I came across describing the increase in probability of heart failure, because Statins deplete body Q10 stores.
What did I enjoy about this video? You and your lovely accent!
Thank you Dr. Sam. I am taking a low dose of statin (30 mg a week) so I will check if I need COQ10. Interesting videos allways!

Just found you. Thanks for the clear explanations. What about contradictions between lowdose of aspirin, and CoQ10, which I take together every day? Thanks for your reply.
Very good info. What I liked best in this video is the Dr. her self. Dr. Sam you have the prettiest smile. Thanks for the videos.
