    One of the first gun I tried to progress was the M1 Garand. You have to try really hard with that gun in every gun fight, if you're inaccurate it becomes a 3 shot kill and if the enemy shoots you first with an automatic, it's flinch city for the rest of that engagement.
    If you ask me, it makes no sense for the marksman rifles to have so much flinch, when the automatics are able to be just as good at range as them. You can decrease the recoil of guns like the STG to the point of it being a laser and it seems to out dps the M1 as well.
    They should probably rebalance it.

      Sorry- mistake, obviously I am replying to hyperfeul: ok big brother i don’t think that reply was necessary. I truly wasn’t being mean, I’m just saying: proficiencies are kinda self-explanatory and ace delves a lot into them on several videos. There are words on the screen that tell you what they do and there is no data to explain- it has no statistical effect. I think the intended question is “should i use vital”. Yes. Use vital on the 3 guns its available lol.

    I feel like dauntless would be a top tier perk if it countered the flinch increasing proficiency which isn't common but really annoying to play against. Countering just movement reducing penalties like suppression isn't enough for me to sacrifice something better like ghost.

      This is a pretty great idea. I still don’t think it would be top tier, but it would be significantly more competitive compared to the other tier 1 perks.

    I agree with your point of randomness that flinch causes which lowers the skill gap, but with sniper rifles if someone is hard scoping a lane, and you quickly get 3 bullets into them, there absolutely should be flinch that throws them off target. In Cold War I’ve seen it a million times where I get a few quick bullets in and they still one shot kill me. Not just a handful of times but 85% of the time. Flinch is good in this specific scenario

      Can't really blame the guys using snipers in this game for hardscoping and holding lanes. The ADS speed is literally twice as slow as the ttk in this game. It's painful trying to quickscope when you could technically be killed twice before you even have your gun up.

    The flinch just honestly makes automatic weapons even more powerful than they already are. I'm not a great player and using any slower weapon becomes a pain when the flinch throws off your aim completely.

      Have you tried Hardcore? I exclusively play HC because I perform much better when I can 1-2 shot enemies, granted they can also 1-2 shot you

      @@matthewloscar2893 That's just cause they're bad bro, hence why the camp, i remember befriending a 60yo back in black ops 3 on 360 who exclusively HC cause he couldn't keep up with the reaction times of kids, so he camped and all, but the dude was max prestige and actually pretty good on HC, most of the time top one on the scoreboard.
      It gave me a different perspective to the gamemode, it may suck but sometimes it's the only way certain type of people can do good and have fun.

    Sniper rifles need some sort of buff in terms of flinch resistance or ADS. Most guns in the game have a far quicker TTK than sniper rifles have of even ADSing. You don't need to have the insane sniper rifles as Cold War did, but in their current state in Vanguard they are very underwhelming to use, and downright frustrating when you can be insta-burst across map from a no-recoil STG before you can even aim your weapon.

      you can die twice before you can even ads fully, the fire rate is super slow, and the flinch on the default sniper scope seems absolutely terrible and way too overkill

    Was using the SVT-40 and was honestly surprised how much flinch you would take when shot. Definitely throws off your tracking

      @@pluto3194 yeah working on diamond marksman rifles now, got the svt gold first and when you unlock the damage increasing barrel to make it like a sniper, it was pretty fun to use honestly. Even using the first ammo you get that decreases damage I think but helps with fire rate, recoil/accuracy was really fun. While using the sniper barrel and that ammo, it felt like I didn't lose any sort of damage whatsoever and you could basically spam a sniper rifle. Working on the m1 garand right now and it's kinda painful compared to the svt lol

      I switched off the lower damage mags onto the 15rnd mags and liked it a whole lot more. It was very strong before, and was an absolute headshot magnet but the upper torso one hits (w/o vital) do wonders for it's consistency. The lower rate of fire matters less because you're gonna be killing more often anyway, and it's fire rate isn't horrible without it, it still beats every sniper by a ton. Very fun gun to use, definitely top 3 if not my favourite gun in the game.

      You need to use the barrel that reduces flinch to reduce it a lot. On the G-43 I’ve used the flinch reducing grip & barrel since I got them and it’s way better.

      Lol for reals I remember I lost a gunfight using 50 bmg (bad aim) and i saw the kill cam of the enemy and he Hella flinched haha

    it’s really not fair how badly snipers are being treated as they aim so slow shoot so slow and have so much flinch. i can literally aim and kill with a stg before somebody with a kar can sprintout aim and fire their weapon. kind of ridiculous

    Flinch on snipers is ridiculous. Hate it that snipers are at a disadvantage at long range to smgs and assault rifles. I would like to see them implement a flinch mechanic that you can only deal flinch to a sniper within a certain distance. Would like to see a good sniper buff aim down sight speed. The fast time to kill in Vanguard makes it not fun to snipe.

      Respectfully disagree. If you are trying to snipe, but getting peppered by my AR, you should not be able to line up a clean headshot.

      The only way I've leveled up my sniper rifles was from zombies. I'll occasionally pick up a sniper rifle from a dead teammate on Red Star or Oasis, but otherwise tap firing an automatic weapon or just using a scoped marksman rifle is this game's "sniping" experience.

      @@Real_Beaky and I’d have to respectfully disagree with your statement. The average ADS for a sniper is between 500-550ms. You can easily get an SMG to ADS at around 200ms with a 200ms TTK. So an SMG has time to kill you almost twice, before you can even ADS if you also include trying to aim with the sniper while flinching. So the only option is to scope in at a distance, but with the scope glint, if a player sees that, they can still kill you just as easily because the flinch doesn’t allow you to aim properly, and most guns have little to no recoil, so they can “pepper” you and beat you every time. The guns are not balanced at all.

    I would rather have flinch removed entirely. I've seen some arguments that removing flinch would make the game campier because you won't be able to flinch the camper off target. Well, that's not the case. Removing flinch will make it easier to remove campers from their headglitches.

    As a person who enjoys snipers, I think they are fine because you can kill the other person before they kill you in 1-shot if you play smart.
    If flinch did not exist then when another player lands their 1st bullet on you... they lose despite landing their shot first. The fact the ttk is fast enough to where you can't just use the sniper as a crutch means it is fair the same way standing far away from shotguns is fair.
    No weapon should be good in every single situation and put almost complete control in 1 person's hands. So having huge flinch helps reward those people who need 2 or 5 shots to kill for landing their shot before you fire. When you failed using a sniper.

      This is so true. Snipers are way too slow to also get insane amount of flinch. Almost every reg gun in the game can kill you 3 times over before you even get your scope in and if you happen to be faster you just flinch off target just before you can take your shot. Snipers need a buff

    I find one of my biggest annoyances of this game is how many guns have terrible magazines/clips. There’s a hand full where you lose a portion of your aim down site view and it really sucks donkey balls.

      No flinch only works with ridiculously slow weapons. Snipers and marksman rifles are way too slow in this game for the amount of flinch there is. You can barely react with them.

    I personally like this flinch mechanic. It makes the flinch reducing attachments/proficiencies not crucial anymore and keeps the others more or less competitive as a choice.
    I personally think MR's flinch should be toned down a little (maybe closer to pistols) but it's not the biggest deal, I just think they're underpowered compared to most other guns, though maybe I just haven't found the one yet.

      Have had the most luck with the gewer and svt. Gewer needs a trigger finger though and even then you've got like 20 bullets. Still fun but not terribly competitive

      They're all very strong really. The M1 2 shots consistently, it just needs recoil control attachments. The SVT is heavy but has huge one shot potential. The G43 can two shot and has high rate of fire (it needs ammo box though). I think the assault rifles being good at literally everything holds them back though. Maybe if they were less effective at long range the marksmen rifles would shine more.

Between his health problems and his videos drifting in other directions I've given most of his videos a pass. With Cold War it was you, Favstar, and Elgomtaf that saw me through the multi-player (Detested Warzone because of the cheaters).
    So thank you, watching his vid on the type 100 but paused it to say I wasn't wrong crowning you the king of COD.

    I've noticed some serious visual flinch using a riot shield on your back when you're getting shot from the front too, unless that's the suppression mechanic kicking in

      yeah in a video a while back he showed how flinch resistance actually lowered the amount your point of aim flinches but in this video he said they dont affect it?

    Agree with what you say but a game without flinch for snipers at least is a horrible idea. Just look on cold war, snipers were a huge pain the ass in that game.

      @@fifteen8850 and snipers are clearly too weak in Vanguard, nobody uses them and for good reason. MW had fast ADS times with decent flinch to keep snipers balanced, CW had almost no flinch but slow snipers, so they were balanced, Vanguard has the highest flinch we've seen with slow ADS times making them useless if you are not camping. 'BuT yOu ArE nOt SuPpOseD tO rUn ArRoUnD WiTh A sNiPeR'. It's CoD, everyone is hopping like a bunny and sliding around while carrying heavy weapons and having perfect aim while in the air, realism doesn't play a role, quickscoping has always been a part of CoD and people will always be annoyed by it no matter what. You can kill mr 2-3 times with an AR/SMG before I can zoom in with a sniper, if I hit that shot, I deserved the kill.

    This explains why I cant possibly reduce my actual flinch on marksman rifles, I get hit once by anything and I'm shooting the ceiling. Its also disturbing how aiming for the middle of the chest will get you accidental headshots more often than not which may be an issue in Warzone (I remember dying to accidental headshots in BO3 a lot) and I wish hardened was still a perk.

    First of all, I think the flinch is just fine where it is in Vanguard. Second, I'll say that I REALLY miss the life bar from Black Ops 4. When I had a baffling death in that game, I could actually go through the effort and grab the footage, slow it down, and literally see how many times I was shot and where, and calculate the damage.

    I think it’s funny. Every one wants snipers to be slow and huge flinch. And they use “ it’s a one shot “. Yet a 2 shot ar/smg is faster ads, 1/3 the flinch. And way more forgiving. Yet again skill is punished.

    As a sniper, flinch is absolutely ridiculous. With a fully kitted Kar98 (for ads speed), you will be shooting at the mood by the slightest bit of damage. This sounds like it would give some room for counter play with the snipers, but it just compounds the balancing issue. Quickscoping is off the table because many guns kill you 2-3x over before you get the scope to your face. Holding sightlines is off the table, because you are way to easy to challenge. It has me wanting to just out put them down, and just run around with a stg or mp-40 like everyone else. Its much easier at the very least.

    I think if someone has an attachment or perk that is supposed to add flinch, it should be a bigger effect than it is. Also, with the opposite, to resist flinch, it should reduce flinch to nearly nothing when being shot by someone with nothing added to their weapons to cause more flinching.
    I don’t think much else would need to change though, I just think the perks/attachments should benefit more, whether adding flinch to opponents or reducing flinch from opponents.

    What I hate most in Call of Duty is when you are shooting someone, and they're shooting you, and you causing them to flinch results in them hitting you with a headshot.

    I like the flinch in this game and I hope it carries over to Warzone Pacific. I hope they add the effect to snipers especially. It’s ridiculous that you can be basically unloading into a player with a sniper and they’re just like, oh no, I’m getting shot at. I better stand here, figure out where I’m getting shot from, ads, and return fire because there’s no flinch.

    Have you guys actually tried using a marksman rifle? The flinch is ridiculous in actual play. It doesn’t seem that bad but you lose so many gun fights because of it. Yes, there are attachments that “help” the flinch issue, but only using one attachment isn’t cutting it. In some circumstances, using two attachments won’t be enough to cut the flinch to win a gun fight. So now, at the very least, you have to use two attachments, that you could use for much better ones, just to reduce the flinch enough that it doesn’t kick you completely off target. Really go into the game put on everything single attachments that reduces flinch on the Marksman rifle and it still kicks more than a AR. It really is ridiculous. Great video Ace, not bashing you at all, it’s just the flinch on the marksman rifles really is kind of dumb.

      Yeah i was boutta say. Sure the numbers and data say one thing but that doesn’t really speak for how sniper rifles and marksman rifles actually feel. The flinch feels very strong and someone landing 1 or 2 shots on me at range shouldn’t automatically win the gunfight because now my cursor is aiming at the sky. Flinch and ADS make sniper and marksman rifles very unenjoyable to use currently.

    If you used a scope on the sniper, then you would see just how busted flinching is. You should also bump the health up and shoot at the target more than once. This will be a more thorough test for every weapon. Shooting in bursts would be preferable.

    If they were to improve DMR flinch. They should have it be in line with pistols. If they have too little flinch. My fear is they would likely become a better choice than a sniper at long range.

      They already are a better choice at long range, so are some ARs especially if they get the first shot off. The flinch definitely balances them out especially if you're holding a lane with a sniper, but DMRs especially the SVT, I feel are way more consistent in multiplayer.

    On Vanguard it seems that the total XP till next operator level-up in the upper right part of the screen while in the OPERATOR tab is 2,000 points off from when you go to the operator next level up page. I also think this is incorrect with the gun XP because in the after game weapon level up screen, it will, for instance, say the gun is at level 40, but when you go to the loadout screen, the gun is still at level 39 with about a 2,000 point discrepancy. Any thoughts?

    They need to reduce flinch for the snipers a bit. The snipers were the most infuriating weapon class to get diamond because I'm shooting the sky if I get hit with a single bullet.

    Is anybody else getting major Packet Loss and High Latency games now? I never had this issue before, it only started when they reinserted the Events of the Pacific. I’ve tried turning off the High Textures but still no luck. This makes the game unplayable :(

    my only problem with flinch is with the svt-40 1 shot attachements which should have alot of flinch so people have a chance of fighting back but in other scenarios i can see flinch as a problem overall. snipers need flinch or they just dominate the game(mw 2019) comes to mind.

    In my opinion, it would be more fair if movement also plays a role in flinch. The less movement, the less flinch. That way players can somewhat control their flinch.

    Hi Ace, thank you for another great breakdown! I am a sniper since many years and I would consider myself ok. Would it be possible for you to do a video comparing sniping amongst COD since 2019? It feels to me that sniping in this game is nearly impossible due to flinch, ADS and time to kill. I love to quickscope but in Vanguard I can get barely get my gun up before I am dead. Even if I have a 50 ping. Hope this would be possible, thanks and keep it up 👍🏻

    Giving sniper/marksman rifles flinch (and the option to make the enemy flinch even more) seems to be the wrong move. It makes them more effective if the person misses a good "sniper" shot, and lets weapons that are MEANT to have a weakness at close range/poor aim a HUGE benefit.

    its so nice to hear u saying that this flinch on snipers is fair w this slow ads and w reg guns like mp40 killing with literally 2 shots... in not saying snipers dont need flintch, but they have slow ads, slow bolt speed and a lot of flintch

      The flinch on snipers is the same as in mw, difference is the kar is a sniper in this game where as in mw it was a marksman riffle, marksman riffles that one shot were way to op in mw so I think its now balanced, if you get the first shot you win if you are slow and get shot you will likely lose

      I don't think the ADS time is in a good state at all for sniper rifles and they should be buffed across the board. I just like having some counterplay to snipers via flinch.

    I know sniper balance is always a hot topic in CoD, but in my opinion the flinch on snipers is too high in this game because of the extremely fast TTK of reg guns. If a sniper is pre-aiming a line of sight you lost anyways. He can shoot before you’re ready and you die, so flinch doesn’t matter there. Quickscoping doesn’t matter too cus it takes 550 ms to ads. He can miss half his shots and you still die before you even had a chance to ads. Flinch doesn’t matter there also. The only time it matters is when you are scoped in and need to adjust your aim. This should be about accuracy and gun skill imo. If it goes to Marksman rifle levels its fine.

    I'm gonna have to play the Owen gun again tomorrow bc today I unlocked the mag with larger caliber rounds which do 50 damage so I was excited I'd be getting 2 shot kills up close. For whatever reason it doesn't seem to work. I've hit people from less that 10 meters away at least 3 times in the chest and they didn't die. The base damage ammo is a 3 shot kill ammo so it should always kill in 3 shots unless you put the smaller caliber rounds on. Also it seemed like it messed my aim way up and that there was significant flinch with that ammo type on. While leveling it up, since it has such a slow fire rate, it was easy to stay on target but with the higher caliber rounds it goes all over the place, especially when I'm getting shot. I know they increase your damage but that gun fires really slow and with every other gun I've played with in the game with higher caliber rounds didn't affect my aim up nowhere near that much and I don't remember flinch being anywhere near that bad. I'll take it off tomorrow and see the difference.

    Flinch is another reason why recoil control and accuracy dominate my builds. I wish you would've tested flinch on hip fire also. Cant wait till my level up screen goes past prestige 3. ✌✌

    For the free to play weekend I mostly only used the M1 garand and I even got it to max level and the M1 itself didn’t really seem to great besides being a heavy two shot king.
    Most of the gun fights I experienced was lost to flinch. It making it so that I had to push myself to basic sniper range and hope that nobody was using an automatic or their aim was just terrible. I do wish that there were more flinch resistant options and/or I just hope that they cut it down until then I’m probably not gonna buy the game till Christmas or until most of the bugs are gone.

    Hmm, does flinch come into play with explosives at all? Because this is the most annoying part. My screen is shaking like crazy 80% of the time.

    Flinch is ridiculous on sniper rifles. The magnitude of it on its own isn't too much of a deal, i am also of the mindset that as they are one shot to kill weapon to the chest, they deserve more flinch else we'll have a situation like CW where if you cross the path of a sniper that's ADS you stand literally zero chance of winning.
    With that being said, the high magnitude of flinch, combined with relatively slow ROFs on all the snipers, combined with the slow ADS speed, combined with the fact that you can set up nearly every full auto weapon in the game to kill in 3 or less shots at insane fire rates due to the headshot multiplier and damage boosting attachments, you have a weapon category that's completely outclassed by everything.
    Being a one shot kill weapon does not matter when an AS44 can kill you nearly 8 times before you've even ADSd with the fastest type 99 (fastest type 99 ADS is 424ms, the AS44 with the 7.62 gorenko, recoil booster and 650mm barrel can kill in 2 headshots at 1052rpm, resulting in a 55ms ttk. That's with 3 attachments, you can make the AS44 VERY accurate with the remaining 7)
    Not to mention the fact that in order to get a competitive ADS speed with snipers you have to sacrifice nearly all of your OHK area as it makes them a headshot only OHK. Which, admittedly, I'd be down with... if not for the fact that literally every gun in the game can kill you more than twice before you've ADS. Or that a single shot from any weapon in the game is enough to completely throw you off target.
    Slow ADS is fine, MW and CW proved that snipers can cope with slow ADS. Even slow ROF snipers can thrive, so long as their damage compensates well enough. However, slow ADS snipers should NOT have massive amounts of flinch in a game with an average ttk under 200ms. The "but it one shots" argument doesn't work here, the snipers are worthless in their current state, due to those two factors alone. ADS speeds need to be bumped up at least 20% across the board, flinch needs to be reduced down to the current marksman rifle level, and flinch reducing attachments (for all weapons really) should actually reduce flinch, not just viewkick

      No matter how many recoil attachments you put on the AS44, you are not consistently hitting 2 headshots at any range that matters.
      If you are trying to snipe, you should not be able to line up a clean headshot while being peppered with an AR/LMG/SMG. I've used the snipers in this game. I'm 100% okay with the amount of flinch they have. I'd even be okay with them turning it up. I'm tired of COD games with OP snipers.

      @@Real_Beaky If you're not hitting 2 headshots consistently with the AS44, you actually need to learn to aim. Weapons in every game since bo4 have had predictive recoil, meaning recoil becomes pretty much irrelevant once you've used the weapon long enough, so long as it doesn't have too much side to side bounce. The AS44 with just the attachments I listed doesn't have this issue in the slightest, especially now after they buffed the bloom on it. 2 headshots, especially at 1052rpm, is easy.
      And I agree, if you're using a sniper and being peppered with an AR/SMG/LMG then you shouldn't be able to cleanly line up a shot. With that being said, they still have to be useable. If you see someone whilst you're using the fastest ADS type 99 (which has the smallest base OHK area of any sniper), you have to literally hope that a stray bullet doesn't hit you or that the person you're aiming at doesn't see you and land a single shot in the nearly half second it takes to accurately aim, and then you have to hit a small, specific area of the body else you get a hitmarker and have to wait for the rechamber, by which point you're definitely already dead. No other weapon category in this game has the same issue. No other weapon category is penalised so much for such a small advantage. Even if every sniper was as fast and consistent as the pre patch SPR from MW, they would STILL be outclassed at every range by the STG, MP40, AS44, BAR, etc etc etc, simply because of the flinch and how fast the full auto guns kill in this game. There's literally no way snipers can ever be OP in this game because most guns kill so damn quickly anyway.

    I personally think the flinch when using a sniper could be reduced slightly, the snipers already feel like theyre dog shit and the amount of flinch just makes it even worse

    I’m really disappointed because I’ve been sacrificing ads speed or recoil control attachments for a visual “resistance” to flinch I think it should 100% reduce the actually flinch as well as visual if you’re gonna trade off something like ads speed

    Notice how if you get shot first by an AR or SMG the flinch makes your gun aim at almost an instant headshot…. Seems like a disadvantage to put the first bullet in someone lol

    I feel like flinch is very disorienting in this game. Maybe because of the added suppression affect that occurs in this game whenever I'm getting shot at with my screen shaking constantly it becomes very annoying to play with.

    Using a sniper for quick scoping is hilarious with at the minimum 430ms on the type 99 (not the good setup which has Abt 485 iirc) the Kar and 3 line sit at 520 and 540 respectively. It's insanely hard to ever contest people in this game with flinch (since most ads attachments increase it) you almost never win vs a decent player. I really think they should increase ads time by like 50-75 Ms across the board for snipers

    Using a reg gun site on the sniper is not a very good way to compare how bad it is with a regular sniper scope... you can lose fights to sub machine guns at range because of flinch and sway and ttk.

    I was leveling the Pellington in Plunder. And it is just impossible to make a kill when you are engaged. When hit, the flinch is so hard that you cannot re-engage when you get hammered with 60 STG bullets , you flinch as hard as when you would be hit by the Oden or so, but 60 times. Impssible to aim, let alone get a kill.
    The game is so broken in favor of Vanguard-weapons.
