I came upon her out of the blue on RUclips. I cannot believe I've never heard of this woman before!! Going to see her and her band Aug. 6th in Evansville Indiana!!!
ohthelovelypoems Thank you. I only found out about her less than a year ago myself. And they say no regrets... this is one for me. She been around for years going back to Buddy Guy.
This lady kicks arse, brilliant guitarist, great vocalist. It’s a gross miscarriage of justice, when gifted, talented musicians like Joanna Connor don’t get the recognition they truly deserve.
Some musicians don't want a lot of recognition; they like playing smaller venues and being more intimate with their audiences. I don't know about her of course, just a thought. BTW, she is awesome!
I think the bass player is holding the band back on this song. When he enters this song, it is at a slightly slower tempo and the band adjusts, but that is not the tempo chosen by the first player when starting the song. she takes a break, restarts at her original tempo, and then the bass player enters and sludges it up again. perhaps the bass player's tempo was selected at practice, I don't know. I'm not asking for a showman, just more artistic involvement verses working as a craftsman.
Love these Women who have been rocking and singing all their lives enjoying their music and keep on bringing it to the people ‼️Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🍻
You know, ms Conner is plenty technically proficient. She can hang with anybody. But what makes her special is how she speaks with her guitar. The way she uses it to project something beyond techniques and precision and out comes this depth of art. It's glorious
She’s got that casual, totally in control gift that some players have. Her band compliments her beautifully. What a joy. Never heard her until today. Yeesh, she is good.
I'm from Belgium and by surfing on You Tube I came across this lady and her band.... I like guitar, I like this sound, I like her really...she's great and I'm happy to discover her.... I will post this on my fb so other people will hear here great music :-)
She’s great, under appreciated, and EC should have invited her to his festivals. Great job with this old John Lee Hooker’s rhythmic blues classic, adding ZZ Top’s edginess, Magic Slim, a little SRV, and her own bad mama attitude, of course. I wish SRV had lived to jam with her. She’d a pushed him some.
I saw one of her shows at a small blues club back around 2004, and Joanna was smokin’! She, along with Debbie Davies, deserve much more recognition for being the GREAT blues guitarists they are!
I stumbled across her a couple of weeks ago and have made it a point to watch every performance I can find. If you read the comments in just about all of the videos the theme is the same "Why haven't I heard of her before ?" RUclips may well have relaunched her career - I certainly hope so - she's incredible.
I first saw Joanna about 22 years ago at the Harlem Avenue Lounge in Berwyn, Illinois. She kicked it back then and she's still doing it. Some band, huh?
She's an amazing player, one of the most if not the most underrated blues musicians ever. She absolutely rocks, just bought her new album Six String Stories after watching this video.
This woman is a MONSTER guitarist and a great singer as well. She so far, for most has been a hidden gem, but thanks to the web, more and more are hearing her. She has been paying her dues for a long time and deserves a break. It was really good to see her on one of Joe Bonamassa's Blues Cruises, in that Joe with all of his success was quick to recognize her incredible talent.
Have only just discovered this beautiful artist today ....i have to say if it wasn't for this age of multi media,I would have never found this amazing woman.....
There is another video floating around on RUclips of her in concert somewhere and she lets all of band members do a solo and her rhythm guitar player can absolutely shred-it, very talented musicians
Joanna Connor has been dishing the fine, fine, fine blues and rock guitar a long time. She holds down a residency at Kingston Mines blue club in Chicago. And she is just an extraordinary guitarist. And BluesBroad does her usual great job on this one. ((Author first corrupted by the boogie via Savoy Brown and then saw this fellow named BB King open for the Stones in Detroit in 1972.))
I hear first time of Joanna Connor .... unbelievable because I got the Blues since 1969 !!!! Wow Joanna ... I love your music-style, specially your Boogie Woogie and all the Blues you do ... WOW.... you just found a new fan in Germany !
Absolutely amazing!!! What an incredible talent... just gobsmacking! Old soul right there, she’s been here before, many times over. This ain’t from one lifetime, there are many lifetimes in his lady... for sure. Thank you very much for sharing & spreading your love 💖

Never heard her til just now goin thru Facebook with my wife. We're both blown away. How is it i haven't heard of her when I love everything blues. This is one bad, boss...blues guitarist. And you know what? That drummer is a bad ass too.
Heard for the first of this lady back in Bonn, Germany in 1992, when she did some gigs at a small club called Jazzgallerie. It was oustanding - nobody had heard of her ever before, there was some lame applause when the band entered the stage. But after the first song everybody was tuned in. It was a great atmosphere! After the last piece the band had to go right through the audience to reach "backstage" and everybody wanted to shake hands of the musicians or give hugs. There I got her first CD "Joanna Connor Band" and I still listen to it from time to time.
Fil, love what you’re doing. A musician’s musician. Love the respect you have for your peers, the thoughtful, informed analysis-and the joy you get from doing it Is infectious. Thanks for the intro to Joanna
A real artist that hasn't sold her soul. How refreshing. Long live the blues.
Good jamming !!! Brings back Santa Cruz memories and all the free concerts.

Amen to that!!!

The best of her, she always bring along all her male band members anywhere she goes. I hope The gibson company must give a signature guitar for her.
She fills the void that Stevie left. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard someone this awesome.
