This woman has ALWAYS just blown me away with her playing and her vocals. I know that she has had struggles in her personal life as well as her career, but has continued to persevere through it all, and when she performs, she leaves absolutely nothing on the table. Joanna, you are great, and your fans love you. The only ones that don’t love you are the ones that have not yet discovered you. God bless.
At about 1 minute the crowd starts clapping on 1 and 3 (from 2 and 4) and it hurts the ears. But she adjusts with a little vocal run and gets them back on 2 and 4. Genius.
Recently discovered her on youtube. Love her, you can see the music is weaved into her soul. So refreshing. Modern pop and talking over a drum machine is not music.
This was Joanna's tightest band ever. Tony and Stan together. Saw her many times in the '90's thru about 2003. Bought the family hamburgers one time when they blew into town. They had just enough money for gas, and that was it. Playin' the blues is a rough business.
I appreciate the hell out of you posting this, however I really wish when people post something like this that they would post a date of when and where this took place. Amazing stuff.
The kickoff gives me goosebumps every time. I love Joanna and like y'all, I wish she could reach a wider audience. She's made 12 albums over the years fgs!! Why no label or distribution with support for touring? For one thing, she's a woman in a man's game and for another, she's a big girl. Neither of those things should prevent her from sharing her immense talent with the world. I hope the day comes in her lifetime that she receives the accolades due to her. Meanwhile, to Attila Subicz, do you have any other clips of Joanna playing at this event? I would LOVE to see as much of this performance as possible! Thank You for posting!
Even Samantha Fish who is the hottest chick ever in rock and roll, or Sadie and Samantha Jonson both real hot, are not as superfamous as they should be..The big corporate whore mega corps only promote garbage now, like the saggy pants hoody creeps, or the stripper whores that do weird tongue things at the Superbowl.
When you have a rash of 12 year old blues slingers it takes away the mystery and charm of pentatonic guitar playing. Fame and musicianship are mutually exclusive.

I have searched for her guitars but can find nothing on the Strat style ax she uses here . Any one got a clue. It's bad when guitar players can't find what other players are using & this one is a hard one to find . Custom built for her is a guess but i would love to know what this one is. Fantastic show if you watch the full concert , man can that woman tear it up..... Saw he some years ago but she just used her go to Les Paul & never brought this guitar to the show.
People talk about her weight and how "she looks good " then...Let her be her own person..I bet this was not one of her favorite periods of her life...Let a person be themselves and if you are happy at a certain weight then go for it..Life is too short to not be true to the person you are inside !

There you go. That is " my Joanna Connors ", the very same from the long gone " Blues Etc.. " on Belmont. I do believe Matthew did jump to the stage for the first time and blow the Harp. The last time I did watch him play was two years ago at the Austin Public Library at Central and Race, I was living across street back then.

Her voice is as powerful as her guitar playing. Great musician, she truly deserves more credit.
Damn, she kicks ass. I was fortunate to see her live once. Got a cd signed.

I saw her playing about 15 years ago in a small blues club in Milwaukee...man, can that woman squeeze every blues note out of a guitar.
Awesome dude!

What talent women is was then still s now
That’s one cool G&L she’s playing I think. Excellent even all that time ago
You think guitars sounded shitter back then? The best electric guitars were in the 50's
Larry Ortega on drums
I didn’t want it to stop .
Holy shit!!!!!!!!! Now that lady can play
What is the bass player's name? He's awesome!

When was that performance
When was this video recorded, what year, anyone know?
People ask why she’s not as famous as some??? It’s real simple she rips 80% of most men blues players!!! And the system can’t have that, straight up!💯
Super funny analogy. This video she is sharp. But as of late...She's a super sloppy guitar player

A record contract would have destroyed her. She's doing her thing and still has her freedom.
This has to be old. Her playing is a lot more relaxed now.
