Geoff spending years on this really shows and paid off. His attention to detail and skill arranging, a kick butt musical, a sickly talented a cappella group, two powerhouse guests......PERFECTION! Geoff also showed during his solo that he's got the voice to be a Disney (or Broadway) headliner--needs to happen soon. This is the second Grammy worthy song Geoff has done this year.
I think the problem there is that being a Broadway headliner would interfere, timewise, with being in VoicePlay. That's the reason DeeJay - and possibly Rachel, can't be a full time member of the group. Geoff was invited to audition for the part of Gaston but declined, saying he wasn't bulky enough to play the part. :)
He did a bang-up job on this. It is spectacular.
Fun facts: Rachel was a part of the Wicked touring company, and also they've collabed with another Broadway Elphaba, Shoshana Bean in Baby, It's Cold Outside!
Cesar really is so good! He fits so well into Voiceplay. His voice is so sweet, yet rich and tender too.
Emoni was not a part of VoicePlay but did sing with them in the Sing Offs, . She also sang with them on The Bones, when Earl left the group.

@@laundrygoddess4 Yes, I do beg yourpardon, and hers. She did appear with them on stage in the Sing Offs , which is what confused me. I have edited my comment acccordingly.
I think one time you ran it back to hear a run, you thought it was Rachel when it was actually Eli. You did notice Geoff’s look when Cesar exclaimed “kill the witch.” Don’t know for sure, but it might have had something to do with Geoff singing the part of the Sea Witch in the Little Mermaid medley. I also loved the look between them during For Good. I think they were really feeling the words of the song.

I love that you kept pointing out how amazing Layne was. Everyone focuses on the vocals because they're amazing, but Layne knocked it out of the park too.
Layne Stein: The sounds that guy makes with his mouth are amazing. I, also, didn't realize he's a couple of inches taller than Geoff.
Eli Jacobsen: He could be the front man for any rock group you care to name and (opinion alert) the only one he couldn't outdo is Freddie Mercury.
Rachel Potter: This woman can sing anything and I'd listen to her. Plus, she's drop dead gorgeous.
Emoni Wilkins: She has an amazing voice, but I've never heard her do anything else before this. I've seen images of her, but no videos.
Cesar de la Rosa: I love the way he can take it over the top when necessary and dial it back when a low key approach is called for.
Geoff Castellucci: That man hits notes that human beings aren't supposed to be able to hit. And, he does it so easily it's scary. I suggest you check out the stories he reads on his channel. His voice is so soothing, I'd be tempted to call them bedtime stories, except I don't think Edgar Allen Poe wrote a bedtime story in his entire life.
The amount of talent we have gathered together here is unbelievable.
That was a C#1, according to my trusty Garage Band App. LOL. He just can’t resist dropping those bass bombs all over the place. And we love them!
I totally agree about Cesar. I really want to hear him get an extended solo where he can really show off what he can do. I’m pretty sure he’s going to blow us all away. These guys are all just amazing.

I sometimes forget that the only instruments in here are human voices everyone was amazing in this
I've never gotten to see the show live, but I've listened to the soundtrack numerous times. Apparently Rachel was an understudy for the lead role at one point. Geoff's last was a C1#. I believe that's his second lowest note (so far) after the B0 he hit in the Halo theme video.
This is one of those that let's Geoff really shine in making this one. Speaking of shining, all of them were spectacular.
To answer your question, the last low note was a chest-fry C#1 by Geoff. The guy doesn't care anymore; he's been handing out heart attacks with a vengeance since the beginning of last year 😄
Layne was unbelievable for me in this. His sound was unreal. I think you caught his little riff down and went back a bit after. I honestly thought that was the best moment in the whole song. I still don't understand what exactly he did, and I'm not convinced it was humanly possible.
They all excelled in their roles, but I am utterly shocked that Layne still has lips after this song. His beat boxing talent is off the charts! Thanks for reacting. You really should watch the show and then re-watch this. It hits very differently!

They've always been an all male a cappella group. Honey only featured in some videos and on The Sing Off with them.
Everyone lost their minds singing this.....everyone. This is absolutely stunning. My one regret is that I never got to see Wicked live on Broadway. Thank you Geoff for allowing me to see and hear this. I literally have tears in my eyes and a huge smile on my face. Bravo sir. Bravo indeed.

I agree Caesar was a great addition to the group. This is has a lot of "Stank face" moments. I have never seen Wicked either but they killed this.

Rachel was in the Broadway show at least as an understudy i believe. So essentially she was doing a reprise of her role there
I haven’t seen “Wicked” yet either. But I read the book many years before it was a musical. I’ve read the whole series. They’re good, and interesting.

I read the book Wicked many years ago. It’s a prequel to the Wizard of Oz. Elphaba, the wicked witch, and Glinda are sisters. Rachel did most of Elphaba’s songs and Emoni did most of Glinda’s songs. Glinda is kind of a mean girl in the book and apparently in the musical as well. Elphaba starts out as a sad little girl that nobody understands and during the journey of the book she ends up becoming the witch because of the way she’s treated. I hope that helps put things in context for you. That is what I remember of the book and from the clips I have seen it looks like they stuck close to the book.
You should watch the Idina Menzel's Defying Gravity! Knowing the original and the difficulty of those notes gives me so much more appreciation for anyone being able to hit those notes!

Elis runs were amazing. Yet... And I'm a horrible person here... But this video had me giggling at the height difference between Eli and Layne. Layne absolutely killed the beat boxing. Thought his lips were gonna fall off there for a bit.
I have never seen Wicked or The Wizard of Oz. Hard to believe the latter I'm sure, but by the time my Mama had me she was burned out on the normal childhood favorites. I have never seen Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Frosty, or Rudolph either. Lol
Fun little note L. Frank Baum, the author of the Oz series, wrote a wonderful Christmas story called The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. In case you you didn't know the Wonderful Wizard of Oz was only the first book in the Oz series
