I've kinda noticed that wuwa seems to really like putting individual hair strands while genshin makes it like when your making art by putting them all together like one big piece
I'm not a model designer but i do have a bit of knowledge in making 3d models, and this is what i like to call "lazy 3d modelling/budgeting" because its less intensive on the graphics processing aspect and engine calculations for each individual item/part. Wuwa has a much higher attention to detail in this case and goes the extra mile to put even that little bit more detail into the model. As an example, take a look at some of arlecchino's clothing, i.e the collar bits. Those are not 2 layers overlayed but rather painted to give an illusion of there being 2 layers. I won't say its not done in wuwa too but its really only done very minimally and usually for not commonly seen portions
This definitely, also the eyes tend to feel far too flat on the Genshin side, like there’s no depth to them. The same with the faces-the shading seems to treat the faces for Genshin almost like the model dolls with flat faces you get to practice poses in drawing. Some of the characters have cool designs but the expressions are flat and the clothing lacks dimension too. I feel this may run down to their faster production time pushing characters out? Less time to craft those details.

I only just noticed that WuWa characters have a distinctly graphic style high contrast outline that helps to define them better. Against the GI models it stands out so much more

I took note of it a couple of times in the past, but the emphasis the lineart makes really really helps to better define the characters- especially since the background lacks that distinction heavier line weight is a genuine art technique to make an object/character stand out as well, so kuro must've deliberately chosen to do this for their characters as an artistic choice
I think it's mainly because of the black line on the mouths of the WuWa characters, it makes them look more like the 2d splash art, while in Genshin the character's mouths just kinda blend with the rest of their faces. The shading in WuWa looks a lot better too.

The textures need to be pretty high quality for it to blend into WuWa, but the hoyo games can get away with some compression and a few blurry textures because it doesn't seem as out of place.

I also enjoy WW, but I'm not sure if it deserves all the criticism people here are giving it. The world is changing rapidly, and technology in 2020 and 2024 feels vastly different. It's natural for an older game to feel outdated compared to newer ones.
The last of us 2 It was released in 2020 and to this day it is one of the top 3 games with the best graphics/visuals in the gaming world, don't use these excuses to camouflage mihoyo's mediocre work, just accept that the game has weak graphics

Actually Genshin started before PGR, genshin is made on 2017 default unity engine its development started in late 2016, while hsr,zzz and hi3 part 2 are made with hoyo customized unity (you can see upgrade in quality) and pgr is made with kuro customised unity engine also since pgr is not open world they can make high quality character models but if genshin needs to do it they need to go back to mondstate and need to overhaul entire game to game look proper
wuwa graphic and character design are top-notched, but then again, both are completely different game, they have their own unique-ness and way to go around them

There's no denying that WW's graphics are very realistic and detailed just like the splash arts but I'm still more impressed with GI's character costumes design and body proportions. Wuwa imo has a more faster paced combat system. I like the dodge, parry, and echo mechanics you use in the game. It makes it fresh. I played genshin since day one and made the move to wuwa and so far I love it and haven't looked back at genshin.
Arlecchino and Navia They sweep their competitors too and if they put camellya it would be the same result, I agree with the other lists, but to say that Arlecchino and Navia loses some match against Wuwa characters is an insult to the designers

It’s odd that people claim Wuwa fanbase is not as toxic as Genshin. I don’t see much difference. I play both games. They both have unique charms. Music scenery wise Genshin wins. Character design? Wuwa. I love Genshin characters cuz I’ve known them for a long time, their personalities are the appeal, and the same will be true with Wuwa. Why can’t the two communities get along lol, neither companies seems to be against the other.
I can't for the life of me remember anything about characters in Genshin after 3 times I forced myself to play it for a few days. idk how some of those nostalgic fanboys like you and the guys I know from college can play it for years and claim these hideous models and story presentation are that good. Like the only good thing/what keeps you guys going/you keep talking about is nostalgia but the game is so sht I can't imagine playing it for years. I watched some of the videos criticing Genshin, there is no way its standards are that high compared to other gacha games. The whole WuWa is similar to Inazuma. An unclear story, which by the way also has endless, meaningless dialogues and characters who have become cute to please the main character. Genshin's lore is deeper and more interesting, the characters, even with all their external ugliness (Chaska, Kinich, Shilonen), evoke sympathy due to the story and proper narration. With rinascita wuwa excels beyond genshin in world design and gameplay even more, graphically the new region is also much better compared to genshin (personal preference ofc but factually wuwa graphics is much heavier) . Every update wuwa gets better wether people admit it or not . Genshin barely ever improves and more often than not just goes even deeper in their ditch of greed. For the genshin players that have a functioning brain its sad really , they have to constantly be reminded of the fact the game they love will never care to improve and only looks to exploit them

The problem with Genshin design is that they have very little detail with the face sculpture, making the shadow fall flat and the light unable to highlight noticeable features on their face resulting in a very simple and basic face. To outsiders who are not familiar with their story, they all look so emotionless and less deep. It has its own charm and aesthetic for sure, but details goes a long way and it add much needed personality to the characters.

I also enjoy WW, but I'm not sure if it deserves all the criticism people here are giving it. The world is changing rapidly, and technology in 2020 and 2024 feels vastly different. It's natural for an older game to feel outdated compared to newer ones.
The last of us 2 It was released in 2020 and to this day it is one of the top 3 games with the best graphics/visuals in the gaming world, don't use these excuses to camouflage mihoyo's mediocre work, just accept that the game has weak graphics

Actually Genshin started before PGR, genshin is made on 2017 default unity engine its development started in late 2016, while hsr,zzz and hi3 part 2 are made with hoyo customized unity (you can see upgrade in quality) and pgr is made with kuro customised unity engine also since pgr is not open world they can make high quality character models but if genshin needs to do it they need to go back to mondstate and need to overhaul entire game to game look proper

There's no denying that WW's graphics are very realistic and detailed just like the splash arts but I'm still more impressed with GI's character costumes design and body proportions. Wuwa imo has a more faster paced combat system. I like the dodge, parry, and echo mechanics you use in the game. It makes it fresh. I played genshin since day one and made the move to wuwa and so far I love it and haven't looked back at genshin.
Honestly the only one that was remotely fair was Nahida vs Verina, all of the others were completely one sided beatdowns.

It’s odd that people claim Wuwa fanbase is not as toxic as Genshin. I don’t see much difference. I play both games. They both have unique charms. Music scenery wise Genshin wins. Character design? Wuwa. I love Genshin characters cuz I’ve known them for a long time, their personalities are the appeal, and the same will be true with Wuwa. Why can’t the two communities get along lol, neither companies seems to be against the other.
I can't for the life of me remember anything about characters in Genshin after 3 times I forced myself to play it for a few days. idk how some of those nostalgic fanboys like you and the guys I know from college can play it for years and claim these hideous models and story presentation are that good.

@@lolamoun I have no idea how anything in Genshin about traveling around the world as a mute pushover with a dumb sidekick can be better over being an OP MC, really a person that feels like an anime protagonist in wuwa. That's telling that you're talking about other characters, unfortunately I couldn't get through the early game to get to them. Yeah most of them are pretty bland in WuWa but at least the overall feeling I play as a cool MC with some basic storyline that fits this vibe of trashy simple anime that you turn on to relax is way better than anything Genshin is and will be trying their hardest.
The only thing going I noticed for Genshin is this obscure lore they're trying to shove in you through pages of dialogue and collectibles. Unfortunately or fortunately I'm not a fan of spending hours discerning what tf they're trying to say with it when I just want to turn on the game, play for a few hours, watch cool sht happening and have fun.
I'm still unable to comprehend what's so good about this lore, I'm sure I won't find it any exciting even I force myself to spend hours to understand it.
I've read some novels with hundreds of pages in them but the main point of them is that you are interested to read them from the first pages and you don't have to slog through them. This is not an issue with people being Genshin haters as you imply, it's the issue of plot presentation.
Also how tf do you guys call WuWa characters empty shells and claim that everything about Genshin is peak. I watched some of the videos criticing Genshin, there is no way its standards are that high compared to other gacha games. At least let's be fair here and say that there are fair share of mid, bad and good characters in all gachas.
One last thing, there is no harem. It's pretty telling you're confusing that with some degenerate anime you're watching.

Genshin's plot isn't perfect, but it's good and an order of magnitude higher than WuWa's. Fontaine has generally become the peak of the storytelling at the moment, although Inazuma is clearly bad. The whole WuWa is similar to Inazuma. An unclear story, which by the way also has endless, meaningless dialogues and characters who have become cute to please the main character. Unlike you, who tried to start playing Genshin three times, but did not advance further, I played both games and know what I'm talking about. Genshin's lore is deeper and more interesting, the characters, even with all their external ugliness (Chaska, Kinich, Shilonen), evoke sympathy due to the story and proper narration. In WuWa, even the most beautiful characters are empty

With rinascita wuwa excels beyond genshin in world design and gameplay even more, graphically the new region is also much better compared to genshin (personal preference ofc but factually wuwa graphics is much heavier) . Every update wuwa gets better wether people admit it or not . Genshin barely ever improves and more often than not just goes even deeper in their ditch of greed. For the genshin players that have a functioning brain its sad really , they have to constantly be reminded of the fact the game they love will never care to improve and only looks to exploit them

I agree, they’re both pretty games and I’m glad that I can enjoy both of them. What is the point of pitting them against each other? Genshin pioneered the gameplay loop of exploration based cross platform gacha games while WuWa is innovating on the gameplay model using their own artistic and technological advancements.

i always really liked the body proportions for characters in wuwa, you can really see it with zhezhi
The problem with Genshin design is that they have very little detail with the face sculpture, making the shadow fall flat and the light unable to highlight noticeable features on their face resulting in a very simple and basic face. To outsiders who are not familiar with their story, they all look so emotionless and less deep. It has its own charm and aesthetic for sure, but details goes a long way and it add much needed personality to the characters.
Wuwa really put a lot of effort in their character designs
