Somehow the whole global zombie outbreak in the movies really made the movies to be like ordinary zombie flicks, unlike the games where the outbreaks are much smaller in scale.

In defense for the movie, live action has limitations for creativity and camera angles compared to a video game. Also, RE5 was directed by the director of Onimusha 1. That guy definitely knows how to make action.
Against the movie, the choreography was lazy. They stole most of it from the game and there was ridiculous amounts of cross fire. It's like Claire and Chris were trying to kill eacother as much as Wesker. Wesker was also smiling way too much. Notice how in the original media, wesker's always been incredibly serious. Save for quick little jypes like the little sinister laugh he does. And since when did Wesker ever show a las plagas parasite?? It was never tied to the t-virus or the ouroboros parasite that he has. He never had a plagas parasite. They essentially made up a bogus fucking weakness just to kill him in a way that saved money.
Video game: 1. Turn off the lights. 2. Rocket launcher to the face. 3. Nerfing serum. 4. More nerfing serum. 5. Weighted himself with parasite. 6. Sunk in lava. 7. Took 2 RPGs to the face. Movie: 1. Sawed-off shotgun to the face. 2. Beretta 9mm to the chest. I leave the math to you.
Don't forget before RE5 he was impaled by a tyrant and managed to escape the facility afterwards in like 10 minutes or less. In the movie a door falls on Wesker and he fails to push it away as the facility explodes

The game was much better in my opinion. Why, because they could do stuff the movie didn't, like show how fast and powerful Albert really was. I mean for god-sake, Albert was able to lift those giant armed missiles with one hand and throw them like they were launched normally.

It's impressive how they replicated this fight but the movie series doesn't show that rivalry Chris and Wesker has had since Re1, which doesn't make it as impactful.
The movie straight up tells a completely different story in which Chris is only a side character. The fact they included this fight at all should be praised as at least adding *some* of the source material for the die hard fans who couldn't cope with some fresh creativity thrown into the resi world

HOW IS THE ONE ON THE LEFT LAME!?!?! That was almost scene for scene, I never noticed before. Dang they got that pretty close for it to be live action. There were a few parts that was off, but I'm actually quite impressed for it to be a movie based off a game...
This was a dope scene and it feels like we're to perceive Weskers instincts in this slow motion part of the movie showing us how he sees the movement and why he can dodge so well. This was a good take on wesker he just wasn't able to be Wekser a lot because he would take away from Alice's bad assness

I know the characters themselves never mentioned Wesker prior to this point and i know a good movie always explains these kinds of things but the fact that we never saw Chris or Claire interact with Wesker prior to this scene adds to the mystery and in my opinion much more interesting. Maybe Chris has had encounters with Wesker in the past that werent shown in the films. Him not mentioning Wesker earlier in the film doesnt necessarily mean that hes never met him. He also couldnt have known Wesker was inside this ship the whole time therefore he'd have no reason to mention him to anyone throughout the film prior to this moment. Personally i like how they did this cuz it allows me to sort of make up reasons as to how those 3 might know each other. We have no idea where Claire was prior to the events of RE3 and the audience kind of got a backstory as to where Chris was prior to him his first appearance in the movie. So i think they did this on purpose to allow the audience to be left questions. Most of the time the audience members dont like when this happens cuz they prefer knowing everything.
Well Claire did escape the men who tried to bring her on the ship, and she also assisted in the destruction of the umbrella base in extinction. So even though they just met, she still affected umbrella operations.

Despite all the hate and stuff I think both the movie and game are great. They technically don't own the RE series so the probably had to change some stuff, like, for example, alice. If they didn't add her we would have no twist to the plot. While I do agree they should have done some things differently like adding Leon and Wesker and Chris and Claire earlier to the story, not every thing has to be like what it's based off of. Constantin Film, the German company making all the RE movies, is fully licensed by Capcom - meaning they paid millions of dollars for the film rights and they essentially own everything about RE when it comes to live-action as long as the license is renovated. Alice was originally created because Anderson's pitch for the first movie (the only half-decent one) didn't involve any of the game's characters on purpose after McEllroy and Romero's scripts were rejected. After that, she only stuck around because Milla Jovovich married Anderson, who was the George Lucas of the first 6 movies - not only he wrote and produced all of them, he also directed 4 (just like Lucas with Star Wars Episodes 1-to-6). Capcom is fine with whatever Constantin does as long as it brings in money and keeps people aware of the brand. To them, the movies are just big commercials for the games - but, unlike normal commercials, not only they don't have to pay for them, they actually directly profit from them. That's a win-win situation in my book. Too bad the movies suck.
Albert's voice in the game is so much cooler, I don't know who voices him but it's such an awesome voice, plus I actually think the graphical limitations actually helped his design, I don't think he would look nearly as cool in a modern triple a game art style.
The fact that we can even comepare the two side by side is a great feat the movie deserves credit for. The rest of the movie can burn in hell in slowmotion.
It is so insanely weird how when you match them up how close they are YET we all prefer the game version. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that when you play a game you are actively engaged in it. Nothing happens unless you push the sticks and buttons. As much as cinephiles hate to admit it, a video game keeps the audience far more engaged in a movie. You spend FAR more time with a game, characters, the environment and everything in between in the 0 - 100 plus hours you may play a game, so you become far more accepting of its world, lore and design than even a 3 hour film. This being said. It's crazy how they at least tried to match video game Wesker and in a lot of shots got it right, but the fact it's live action (and depending on cinematography) it just looks bad compared to the already pre-accepted wild anime-ish world of RE5.
Its really bad when you build up the Redfields as Weskers nemesis. and the fight between them HAS to be a DIRECT COPY FIGHT SCENE from the game. We were to harsh against this directors and movies. I want Antony Starr as Wesker or at least this guy. I have no idea what they were thinking when bringing Blade to Racoon City.
It's the little things. The overuse of slo-mo really adds a weightless, procedural quality to the whole thing, making Wesker's superhuman feats feel dull. Keeping them at full speed in the game and keeping the camera frantic adds this overwhelming quality to his speed and strength that makes it impossible to keep up with. The few times the game uses bullet time is to unspool an elaborate, complicated action that Wesker is performing to make it look all the more impressive. The way he flash-steps is also laughable in the movie. He just looks like he's straight-up teleporting, just sort of flinching from one side or the other. The animation in the game puts a lot more of his body into the step, making it look like he's actually moving faster than the eye can follow, and physically halting his momentum when he comes to a stop. Also, this shmuck got nothing on DC Douglas.
I honestly really like both, I mean yes the acting relative to movies are campy but compared to the video game medium at that time, the movie did amazingly well. I liked it in the end.
Not a terrible attempt tbh. What nobody is giving props is loyalty to the source and shot for shot callbacks. That's pretty damn cool when they can deliver considering most IPs get ruined otherwise

Code veronica is the first game you see Wesker do this stuff and the game came out 1 year after the matrix, might be a coincidence or not. in the first game Wesker did take the prototype virus which is said to increase the abilities of the human body. I think the trench coat is more Neo than Smith but the sun glasses has stuck with Wesker for a long time so it's a high chance coincidence.
To be fair I think Albert was okay in the movies not the badass he is in the games but here is only so much you can do with real people and depending on money the budget, easier to draw everything then finding people who can do certain things, Resident Evil movies never have a huge budget but they do okay for what they have.

HOW IS THE ONE ON THE LEFT LAME!?!?! That was almost scene for scene, I never noticed before. Dang they got that pretty close for it to be live action. There were a few parts that was off, but I'm actually quite impressed for it to be a movie based off a game...

Wesker in the movie is one of the better real life adaptations.
This was a dope scene and it feels like we're to perceive Weskers instincts in this slow motion part of the movie showing us how he sees the movement and why he can dodge so well. This was a good take on wesker he just wasn't able to be Wekser a lot because he would take away from Alice's bad assness

I know the characters themselves never mentioned Wesker prior to this point and i know a good movie always explains these kinds of things but the fact that we never saw Chris or Claire interact with Wesker prior to this scene adds to the mystery and in my opinion much more interesting. Maybe Chris has had encounters with Wesker in the past that werent shown in the films. Him not mentioning Wesker earlier in the film doesnt necessarily mean that hes never met him. He also couldnt have known Wesker was inside this ship the whole time therefore he'd have no reason to mention him to anyone throughout the film prior to this moment. Personally i like how they did this cuz it allows me to sort of make up reasons as to how those 3 might know each other. We have no idea where Claire was prior to the events of RE3 and the audience kind of got a backstory as to where Chris was prior to him his first appearance in the movie. So i think they did this on purpose to allow the audience to be left questions. Most of the time the audience members dont like when this happens cuz they prefer knowing everything.

Well Claire did escape the men who tried to bring her on the ship, and she also assisted in the destruction of the umbrella base in extinction. So even though they just met, she still affected umbrella operations.

shit on the movies all you want, i don’t like them either, but shawn robert’s portrayal of wesker in afterlife was pretty good. he’s a little too muscular though seeing as wesker is more slim but i still liked him.
Despite all the hate and stuff I think both the movie and game are great. They technically don't own the RE series so the probably had to change some stuff, like, for example, alice. If they didn't add her we would have no twist to the plot. While I do agree they should have done some things differently like adding Leon and Wesker and Chris and Claire earlier to the story, not every thing has to be like what it's based off of. Thats my two cents

Constantin Film, the German company making all the RE movies, is fully licensed by Capcom - meaning they paid millions of dollars for the film rights and they essentially own everything about RE when it comes to live-action as long as the license is renovated. Alice was originally created because Anderson's pitch for the first movie (the only half-decent one) didn't involve any of the game's characters on purpose after McEllroy and Romero's scripts were rejected. After that, she only stuck around because Milla Jovovich married Anderson, who was the George Lucas of the first 6 movies - not only he wrote and produced all of them, he also directed 4 (just like Lucas with Star Wars Episodes 1-to-6). Capcom is fine with whatever Constantin does as long as it brings in money and keeps people aware of the brand. To them, the movies are just big commercials for the games - but, unlike normal commercials, not only they don't have to pay for them, they actually directly profit from them. That's a win-win situation in my book. Too bad the movies suck.

Even though the movies are seen as “lame” you can’t lie that they were super entertaining and payed homage to the games like this.
The movies never learn. What shocks me is how young the actor was who played Wekser.
Albert's voice in the game is so much cooler, I don't know who voices him but it's such an awesome voice, plus I actually think the graphical limitations actually helped his design, I don't think he would look nearly as cool in a modern triple a game art style.

It is so insanely weird how when you match them up how close they are YET we all prefer the game version.
I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that when you play a game you are actively engaged in it. Nothing happens unless you push the sticks and buttons. As much as cinephiles hate to admit it, a video game keeps the audience far more engaged in a movie. You spend FAR more time with a game, characters, the environment and everything in between in the 0 - 100 plus hours you may play a game, so you become far more accepting of its world, lore and design than even a 3 hour film.
This being said. It's crazy how they at least tried to match video game Wesker and in a lot of shots got it right, but the fact it's live action (and depending on cinematography) it just looks bad compared to the already pre-accepted wild anime-ish world of RE5.
If they included the movies fight soundtrack in the game then the game would be unstoppable

It's the little things. The overuse of slo-mo really adds a weightless, procedural quality to the whole thing, making Wesker's superhuman feats feel dull. Keeping them at full speed in the game and keeping the camera frantic adds this overwhelming quality to his speed and strength that makes it impossible to keep up with. The few times the game uses bullet time is to unspool an elaborate, complicated action that Wesker is performing to make it look all the more impressive.
The way he flash-steps is also laughable in the movie. He just looks like he's straight-up teleporting, just sort of flinching from one side or the other. The animation in the game puts a lot more of his body into the step, making it look like he's actually moving faster than the eye can follow, and physically halting his momentum when he comes to a stop.
Also, this shmuck got nothing on DC Douglas.

Code veronica is the first game you see Wesker do this stuff and the game came out 1 year after the matrix, might be a coincidence or not. in the first game Wesker did take the prototype virus which is said to increase the abilities of the human body. I think the trench coat is more Neo than Smith but the sun glasses has stuck with Wesker for a long time so it's a high chance coincidence.
To be fair I think Albert was okay in the movies not the badass he is in the games but here is only so much you can do with real people and depending on money the budget, easier to draw everything then finding people who can do certain things, Resident Evil movies never have a huge budget but they do okay for what they have.
