You're one of the few long lens street photographers out there that don't do typical tiktok portrait nonsense. Authentic and focused on composition, keep it real!!
I have the vintage version of the 250mm and really enjoy shooting street with it! Thank you for sharing your process, it really shows in the photos you shared. Super inspiring for my own journey in this medium.
your content is sooo good! as a newer hobby photographer and a student as well, the lessons on your channel are motivational and inspiring. keep up the content!
Thank you so much! Never know who’s watching, great to connect here on RUclips. Let me know if you have any questions or topics you want me to cover? Planning a Q+A episode later this month
@@BokehTherapy one channel spent whole video finding many issues using the Sirui Anamorphic, full frame, at the Z7 (instead of using the Z6 as written in his misleading title) but in the end loves the image quality! The results are just amazing, looks like cinema, in despite of the issues. So I guess the case would be a video on the results and how to work properly with these lenses on Zf, instead of spending the whole video criticizing it, to admit they're great in the last moment.
RUclips is tricky to balance. Maybe they were trying to build some suspense and didn’t quite pull it off in the planning? I don’t see much point in spending a whole video on gear you hate - it’s so much work!
I find having too much gear massively harms creativity and creates boundaries where you’re in your head too much about what to use rather than in the moment, I shot with 50mm only for 5 years and found this helped me enormously.
I've shot 35mm (50mm equiv more or less) for so long for actual paid work where it's not longer as enjoyable, moving into video work I chose to buy a cheeky film cam to slow down my photography experience and I am tempted to grab this lens (it'll be like 350mm after crop factor) and it'll work well for messing around with super long focal lengths alongside shooting some low ss moon pics
Hiking every week does the same for me. I end up taking so many landscape photos even though that’s not really my thing. It does make me have to learn to be better at it cuz I get frustrated with bad composition and exposure. The 250mm is a great idea! Thanks for putting out your work!👍
I don’t have much patience for landscape photos normally but whenever I make the time to do it I have a great time (and some no so great shots haha). Thanks for watching!
Aps-c 56mm and 250mm manual is a huge challenge! I think you did quite well. I tried the Voigtländer manual Z 75mm 1.5 in my new ZF in Berlin this weekend. It is a brilliant lens, but I had forgotten to limit the minimum shutter speed while using auto iso in A mode, so I got many blurry shots on the street. When I did get it to focus, the IQ colour and contrast is astounding. The small 26mm 2.8 was a joy to shoot with I am so glad I got despite the mixed reviews!
Haha oh it was so hard shooting 250mm manual! I owned the voigtlander 75mm in m mount, a beautiful lens! Congrats on the purchase. Still haven’t tried the 26mm will need to add that to the list
Thank you for these excellent videos! It is really fun hearing about your journey through photography. Your thoughts on the process is really helpful, as I feel it makes the inviting, an unique. I recently got a Zf after using an XT4 for a few years. Your chanel helped and I am really loving the camera!
Oh a new Zf shooter - congrats on the camera! Lots of Zf videos coming up. Let me know if you want me to cover anything specific? Q+A video in the works later this month
@@BokehTherapy thank you! Your Zf videos so far have been great, and pushed me to get the 50mm 1.8s. I would be interested to hear if you use any of the other modes (Aperture priority, shutter, etc) or tend to just use manual. I am excited to hear about your upcoming product photography video, as I have been doing a lot of photography of miniatures I build and paint and think it could have some useful parallels.
Superb content thanks! Using photography as a therapeutic tool is nothing new but could be a very good niche to grow your channel into. I would suggest setting up a Flickr channel for sharing work or starting projects/challenges on. Obviously time-consuming, but it would be something I would support.
Thanks so much - just trying to document my process on this channel, glad it seems to be resonating with people. Thanks for the ideas - projects and challenges sounds great!
I use the 85mm F1.8 lens on my Nikon D5500. I used it today in Osaka. Going to use it tomorrow when in Central Tokyo and Shinjuku. Currently in Japan. My Bday present to myself
@@BokehTherapy Nikon will probably release a Z Mount Version hopefully soon and a Z Mount version of the F Mount 35mm F 1.4 soon also and a version of there 85mm F 1.4 F Mount lens also.
Not a huge fan of the 250mm bokeh. In the photos you showed I found that it gave me an almost dizzy effect and instead of helping to isolate the subject, it distracted me from focusing on them
love the diarising idea, i do it all day everyday for work but not for myself or my "me time". also the more practice done on the home field will help when I'm abroad and need to be game ready.
Game ready is a great concept - never have enough time shooting while travelling, losing a day due to being out of practice feels like a shame. Thanks Tim - hope you’re doing well!
I haven't tried longer focal length then 50mm for street yet. I owned a 85mm vintage lens once to test the focal length out for my family documentation, but of course it was too long for our apartment, although very nice portrait shots of course. But for now I restrict myself to 50mm and sometimes 35mm for my street walks. I feel like I'm still at the very beginning of photography I finally found the focal length which I enjoy the most regarding the look of a focal length. Downside of 50mm or of course 35mm for street it's often too wide and being an introvert I struggle a lot pointing my camera into peoples faces :D I would like to time slot my photo walk, since I want to shoot more regulary, but unfortunately my kids often have different plans, since I work a lot from home :') Might change in 1 or 2 months when both of them are in day care - let's see :) Do you plan to switch focal length of these practise walks or do you choose sponantiously based on your preference on that day?
I try to do one leg of the photowalk with one focal length, then switch on the way back. Prefer just shooting with one but lots of lenses to test out these days. A 50 only year long challenge would be good for me I think!
I love long lens street photography. I think its slightly overrated to be all up in peoples faces 100% of the time. You can capture just as much, if not more, candid emotion from farther away, IMO.
Oh interesting - will try to test it out once it’s released. I know Viltrox have one, but it’s bigger and heavier than Nikon’s. Certainly cheaper though so lots of great options

Thanks for the idea! See if I can track down any Z mount anamorphics from my contacts at Pergear

I will need to take up this challenge. Don’t know if I can do 5 years - let’s start with a month. Nice to hear from you as always!
It’s good on two levels, just mastering a focal length but also there’s so little thought about what to take because you only have one setup.

In what way does a 85mm lens become a 56mm on a crop camera, you multiply by 1.5, not divide , the 85mm will be apx. 135mm on a crop sensor camera.
I was using a 56mm lens for APS-C on a full frame camera which applied a DX crop to make it 85mm field of view. Think we are on the same page?
I love long lens street photography. I think its slightly overrated to be all up in peoples faces 100% of the time. You can capture just as much, if not more, candid emotion from farther away, IMO.
Yes I love the 85 for this reason - 250 is a bit extreme though, was hard shooting on it for a month haha. What’s your go to focal length?
@@BokehTherapy I'm on a Z8 and usually have the 24-70mm f/2.8 on most of the time. Otherwise, it's the 85mm f/1.8.

Haha I’m sure it does but Australian sun js too bright at noon. I trust the exposure comp if I’m shooting in aperture priority. Thanks for watching!
I noticed your voice is different on the narration which is throwing me off
Hrmm is it for the whole video or just some sections? I will double check my audio presets, thanks for the feedback
It’s from 20secs onwards, you lose your deep voice so it sounds like someone else narrating the video 😂
Haha nope it’s still me lol. OK will double check my cables
Think I found the problem - let me know if my voice sounds weird in this week’s video if you get the chance? Thanks so much!
