I always remember my first time in Amsterdam, It was a 14 hour lay over for a connecting flight to china. Man I toured that place, walked for miles. Even stumbled on the red light district but also found it a bit weird and found the nearest way out. Public transport has to be the best way to get around, whilst there, I went on a bus a tram a train and a plane 🤣 Amsterdam is quirky and strange but interesting and fun at the same time. Drew is right about the bikes, you really do need eyes in the back of your head . If you have never been to Amsterdam before its a must city to visit. I would 100% recommend to anyone. Best food in Amsterdam is easily either Surinamese or Indonesian food. Both of course former colonies with lots of restaurants all over. The best ones are just outside the city centre in neighborhoods like De Pijp for example. Same is true for bars and coffeshops by the way. Also in these areas you will actually have a chance to see some locals.
The bakeries in the Netherlands were epic when I lived there, also street markets where you could pick up Malaysian food and amazing pieces of fried fish in batter called 'kibberlings'

For UK and Irish people, there's an Irish pub right beside "The Flying Pig Downtown" which is a hostel. It does great fry ups for breakfast and does your regular uk scran throughout the day. There's also a Chinese restaurant that is inside an actual boat, it's pricey though so beware.

Thailand. Always a great destination. Whether you like the tropical islands, the craziness of Bangkok, or the northern highland jungle around Chang Mai there is so much weed. Every man and his monkey is having a crack. If you’re happy to pay approximately US$15 per gram you’ll get top notch, often imported from Canada and the US. Exploring some of the less popular tourist destinations I found some really nice (and cheap) products. Nice organic bud and proper old solid hash. Just remember cannabis is legal but anything else you may get offered is probably not. Best to polite and mindful when you’re smoking and not flaunt it, it could attract the wrong attention. Always great value with options for every budget.

They also charge you a recycling fee in the supermarkets when you buy a bottle of coke or water but you can get it back if you take the empty bottle back and receipt. Its kinda strange
Last time I was In dam a lady at the station helped us out with a travel card as we were staying outside of central and needed the train daily and was only about €17, by the time you pay €5 each way to central and back you're paying an extra €7 to travel as much as you want and it also covered trams which was helpful when trying to find 1e hulp
There is one Hidden Secret in Amsterdam that not many people talk about!?! Van Stapele Cookie Shop ... BEST COOKIE IN THE WORLD it's right beside a coffeeshop called tweede kamer. They only sell "one cookie" not by Number ;-) but only one type of cookies... if you try, you will know why. If you are like me and like some sweet stuff together with a coffee or a chocomell .... go there try it!!! Pure Love
First time i was there was when it was still the guilder me and work mates went for 10 days. It was super cheap. £10 was about 30 guilder. My god we were smashed. I agree the red light district was not my thing either. But a very interesting place to visit for sure. I went lanzarote in September this year I went to the local csc lanzacanna €10 to join not a tourist trap. I also went to the calilanza i got a discount instead of the €20 I got to join for €10 because I had to go home the next day. But both was excellent and i did chill with the locals to. Best places we found to eat was Bagels And Beans for breakfast, Frens Haringhandel (crispy cod) for lunch and Burger Bar for dinner. All not too expensive.

Finding the pancake house in an ally after wake and bake in the morning was the find of the day xD Oh and i did get hit by a bike once. Derp, i learned my lesson and nobody was hurt. Found anything from buddhist temple selling books to the well known waffle house on my adventures :D and stay away from the tourist trap museum in red light district. There's nothing in them, just a bunch of crap you have already seen
If there for a few days worth getting to 2 or 3 day tickets can jump on all transport, including train tram metro and ferry amd aslo gets you back to the airport
Yes please! Looking for hotels because we are doing a cruise that leaves from the Amsterdam port so we have two days beforehand. So we are like do we stay closer to the port? Or should we haul our luggage to the more popular areas where we will spend more time? But I kept reading that there aren’t many hotels with elevators. Not a problem for walking but luggage is big for a 2 week cruise…also not rich here & not staying in a hostel haha
Get food from the carts or the little pizza shop behind the big bulldog and the Burger King, it’s hella good and it’ll keep you full up. Carts in the museum quarter are especially nice

Just come back from Amsterdam. Family first was by far the best service and menu out there. Staff are friendly in there, Please find them if your going, can see why they are friends of the Chanel. Big up yourself Drew
good avice and great video. My wife is French and Im American. We live in Oregon USA and I am a cannabis farmer. so access here is relaxed and unlimited. but in france it is forbidden. So I m pretty sure I will make it to the netherlands eventually...the prices there sound quite the same as dispensary weed here in Oregon. top shelf can be 14-20 a gram.

One good tip I think you missed is that you don’t have to buy weed from the coffee shop to smoke in there, as long as you buy a drink or something they don’t mind you smoking a joint while you enjoy your coffee. A lot of people I’ve spoken to that went for the first time felt like they had to buy weed each time they visit a coffee shop, this isn’t true. They may prefer you to buy your bud from them but at the same time they’re not gunna pass up your business for a few coffees etc. the profit margin on tea and coffee is way higher than the profit margin they make on the bud. I mean think about it, it’s what 1p for a tea bag, nothing for water, maybe 10p to heat the water. Total cost 11p, retail price £1.99 👍

It's not just how much you want to spend on smoke it's how much for food too. It's not cheap. Food is actually good in Dam you just haven't found it. I've been 30+ times anywhere from 4-8 days. Also, you can go to Dam and not enter the red light area. ✌️
You've missed a missive tip. When you pull into Amsterdam Station. Make sure you come out the right exit (Sorry it's been a while for me, so I can't advise beyond that). One entrance is where Drew come out, the other is where you're gonna get robbed (sorta like Clapham Junction 😉).

Best places we found to eat was Bagels And Beans for breakfast, Frens Haringhandel (crispy cod) for lunch and Burger Bar for dinner. All not too expensive.

Idk about Amsterdam so sure, but in a lot of other cities in the Netherlands dont allow fotos or calling in the Coffeeshop bc they arent allowed by their township laws

Many ppl wouldn't believe it but look up at the "jack herer cup" Dutch competition for the best shops in nl and you see that all best shops are outside of Amsterdam.

Finding the pancake house in an ally after wake and bake in the morning was the find of the day xD Oh and i did get hit by a bike once. Derp, i learned my lesson and nobody was hurt.

and stay away from the tourist trap museum in red light district. There's nothing in them, just a bunch of crap you have already seen
Amsterdam is apparently my second homeland , only been to Schiphol airport few times , have to head back again.
If there for a few days worth getting to 2 or 3 day tickets can jump on all transport, including train tram metro and ferry amd aslo gets you back to the airport

Yes please! Looking for hotels because we are doing a cruise that leaves from the Amsterdam port so we have two days beforehand. So we are like do we stay closer to the port? Or should we haul our luggage to the more popular areas where we will spend more time? But I kept reading that there aren’t many hotels with elevators. Not a problem for walking but luggage is big for a 2 week cruise…also not rich here & not staying in a hostel haha
Get food from the carts or the little pizza shop behind the big bulldog and the Burger King, it’s hella good and it’ll keep you full up. Carts in the museum quarter are especially nice
You definitely need €150 a day bare minimum bro. For food etc as well. Drinks in the coffeeshops plus bud. More like €200 a day
i wish you posted this earlier, was there for the first time about 2 months ago. first, i got a taxi, 50 euro. after i went to my hotel and i went to the central station and walked right down that street you said... found good bud in the end though thank god:)

Some main streets are insanely crowded. My advice, there's bikers zipping around everywhere, definitely watch ur back!

Just come back from Amsterdam. Family first was by far the best service and menu out there. Staff are friendly in there, Please find them if your going, can see why they are friends of the Chanel. Big up yourself Drew

good avice and great video. My wife is French and Im American. We live in Oregon USA and I am a cannabis farmer. so access here is relaxed and unlimited. but in france it is forbidden. So I m pretty sure I will make it to the netherlands eventually...the prices there sound quite the same as dispensary weed here in Oregon. top shelf can be 14-20 a gram.

One good tip I think you missed is that you don’t have to buy weed from the coffee shop to smoke in there, as long as you buy a drink or something they don’t mind you smoking a joint while you enjoy your coffee. A lot of people I’ve spoken to that went for the first time felt like they had to buy weed each time they visit a coffee shop, this isn’t true. They may prefer you to buy your bud from them but at the same time they’re not gunna pass up your business for a few coffees etc. the profit margin on tea and coffee is way higher than the profit margin they make on the bud. I mean think about it, it’s what 1p for a tea bag, nothing for water, maybe 10p to heat the water. Total cost 11p, retail price £1.99 👍

Wassup Drew, may I suggest as a local, that coffeeshop Central is an excellent shop right across the Station. It's on the left side when exiting the station though, just a bit after St.Nicolas Church. Would be cool to get your opinion on that one 👍🏻

It's not just how much you want to spend on smoke it's how much for food too. It's not cheap. Food is actually good in Dam you just haven't found it. I've been 30+ times anywhere from 4-8 days. Also, you can go to Dam and not enter the red light area. ✌️

That Main Street outside central station is called damrak I was 14 when I first went to the dam 1978 .
If you want good vibez and some food with ya smoke,try Prix D’ammi. Its like a 2 minute walk from the station. I reckonmend you go there

When you pull into Amsterdam Station. Make sure you come out the right exit (Sorry it's been a while for me, so I can't advise beyond that). One entrance is where Drew come out, the other is where you're gonna get robbed (sorta like Clapham Junction 😉).

You can use Maestro and Vpay everywhere, Mastercard is usually not accepted in supermarkets. In NL it’s usually cards > cash so leave the ATM
no creditcards, just debit
Visa debit should be fine,if you have that. Also, inform your bank of when you are going so they don't restrict withdrawals.
