Neil-*spends 10 years building a car*
Also Neil-“just drive your car folks and enjoy it don’t just let it sit in a garage” lolll
Hahaha the ultimate hypocrite, although this 86 has been the definition of a snowball, and I wish I could just drive it, but here we are.
@@juiceboxforyou My son is 15. He's never seen my aw11 run. He saw it for the first time the other day😭
"I cannot take it with me when I'm dead" well, if you wrap it around a nice tree going 150mph you kinda can
Hahahaha true
3:24 "The pockets are empty". I know the feeling, man 😂
Hands down the most repaired and back to factory spec 86 on the RUclipss!
Its pretty mental at this stage! Keen to show the next step, things ramped up after this elephant in the room was tackled
@@juiceboxforyou I wouldn't go messing about with elephants. Me uncle tried to feed an elephant some peanuts in London once and it hit him in the knackers with a water bottle. To be fair, I think it might've just been a bloke in a costume who was doing a fun run.
The definition of insanity with the amount welding and cutting to this car 😅
The 86 of Theseus.
It really is, thankfully this was the end of it... for now
I swear these chill ass juicebox vids are better than therapy
The Irish always find a way to make you feel less nuts 😂
13:52 The painter getting all the credit 😂 Big shout out to all the panel beaters, we appreciate your service!! 😄👍
You are 100% right about enjoying the car you have. Anyone trying to have a showpiece / museum car over a certain age is fighting a losing battle, unless they want to spend ungodly amounts of money every 5 - 10 years. It really surprised me when I did my panel beating apprenticeship many, many moons ago. You would have the cleanest and shiniest looking classic cars come in to have a panel replaced or a door reskinned, and there would just be a horror show waiting inside. Where there is welding, there will be rust. Drive it, slide it, enjoy it, but don't obsess about preservation unless you are a museum or Mr Moneybags.
Exactly! I’ll try find a happy medium to enjoy this shit box
Once it is finally painted, Pump it full of deodorised fish oil. Still smells a bit and will keep dripping for years but helps keep the rust away. When it sits in the sun it seeps between all the panel joins. I live at the beach in NZ and my 75 Escort was restored over 20 years ago and still no signs of rust popping out. Just a thought Neil.
Using cavity wax on the inside, seems to be a decentish iob, cheers for the tip though
The pockets are mint !
This series is the reason i sold my twincam 4 years ago,,,i new what was coming and i wanted notting to do with it
Probably the best move tbh
Tis an early squeeze of the juice, sure look it, be grand. The dinner isn't even ready. Keep on pushing!!!
Absolutely incredible craftsmanship. Hope you add on the wing to your hatch. Absolutely needs that integrated wing on the hatch. Thanks for the awesome update.
Theres some really cool stuff coming up on this soon
By the time the 86 is finished it'll be time for it to start its next rust cycle haha
Hahahaha
On a scale of 1 to 10 how much does Jackie regret offering to spray your 86 all those years ago 😂
He hates me hahaha
I can't wait to see this finished Ae86 ‼️😄🤩🤩
It will drive just as nice with a full interior Niel. If you are going to spend as much time driving it as you did building it, it's something to consider. Or just drive with ear protection.
Nah shes getting a cage, going for the mullet look, stripped our rear, carpet up front
@@juiceboxforyou a reverse mullet then!
So satisfying
Love seeing progress on your ae86
Drive it, enjoy it! Well said brother. Thanks for another one, salute & kudos!
FUCK YEA! Keep em' coming! The 86 is nearly there :)
Progress! Love it. It’s gonna look mint. Enjoying this process through the years. Whew.
So much work. Never ending.
3 step forward 2 steps back. 👌👌👌👌
well you can't leave it half assed at this point
Thats some nice panel work done ther now 👌💯🤙😁
Bro i really fucking enjoyed your video's when its about your car, love it!
I’ve completely fell out of love with driving & cars in general over the last 5 years or so but I end up waiting for & watching every one of your videos. I used to read the blog & I’ve been following along with the vids from the beginning. Just want to say keep it up, you and the lads are definitely doing something right.
I know the feeling it can come in waves! Really appreciate the kind words ❤
This is soooo good Neil!! Steps forward, no matter how small, is progress!!
This was the elephant in the room for so long, glad you enjoyed this
RESPIRATOR WHENEVER SPRAYING/SANDING/LAMINATING ANYTHING PLEASE. I understand that messing around with the boys is fun, but cancer and chemicals are no joke. Your health is incredibly important for the longevity of these videos and your enjoyment of this car!!!
It’s so close! I can feel it!
"I can't take it with me when I'm dead, so enjoy!"
Hear, hear
The only reason why I check RUclips daily is to see if anything has been uploaded. DYING for more
Loads more to come ❤
Coolest 86 on the web
Its going to be worth all the work! Wish we got ae86s here in sweden, i cant say ive ever seen one in the wild. We got the nissan 180zx s12 however 😅
Good that you decided to deal with that panel. It would have always bothered you if you hadn’t. This is going to be one neat 86!
Happy the guys pushed to go this route
Oh man i cant wait when the ae86 gets his Body Panels, and Interior, but what i mostly like on this that you guys are putting VERY much time into youre projects and also the ae86, which im respecting Very much. Even the welding looks Clean and not from other people, that throw weldline over this and painted it over, but yeah. I really love this project and also cant wait when the little trueno hits the streets. And yust do me one favour: dont sell the ae86, youve putted so much work into it, to make it looks like art. Love you guys and also greetings from Germany
This will be a keeper ❤
Nearly there now!
And you know it'll be good for another few decades after this, which is a certainty I've never had in my car life before.
But it must feel extra special with a car like the 86!
It’s a weird feeling, blessed to have the right guys helping out on this
Coming together now Neil savage 🤟🤟🤟
This was being pushed off for so long glad we sorted it
“The pockets are empty” had me dying 🤣 “ah yea, the pockets are mint lad, but they’re empty “ Thanks again for another update Sheehan lad. She coming on well, I’ve 3 years and twice the welding into a starlet and I’m not out of the floor pan yet haha drive on kid
It’s misery but we love it
proper craftsmen
Feel bloody awful for you, Neil. Just when it looked like you were in the clear! Hopefully you can get these bits sorted out then get your momentum back. Great eye opener for anyone with a Japanese car - living in constant fear whether the shell was immaculate on import or not!
It’s scary knowing what’s going on behind ! Glad we got this sorted though
Just a heads up in case you never heard of it Neil... I use a german product called "brunox rust inverter with epoxy". I found it a few years back when doing my hilux chassis. Its by far the best stuff ive ever used for rust treatment and prevention. Ive used it on my sw20 and zzw30. Ive painted over it too without reaction. Its expensive, but good insurance over regular epoxy for anything internal/around the welds.
Great video as usual 🙌
Will keep it in mind thanks for the tip ❤
Nee way are you cutting it again in this episode mate 😂 what a nightmare. Gonna be perfect though.
Agreed; enjoy your cars, drive them. Happens to all of them.
Yeah I would do the same Too cuz WheN all this Done It has to be Perfect I agree With this no matter how much Cutting and Welding Is fine as Long as its for Satifaction and perfection You can't go wrong
I actually can't wait for a cinematic video of whe the car is "done" the work done to it is amazing and the lads are an absolute blessing to have. It'll be great to see you be able to enjoy it at the end of it all and not just leave it back in the shed till another but is sorted
Can’t wait for the first road drive with this it’s been a long time coming
@juiceboxforyou well there's a spot kept for you at DB on the Quay for you when it's ready
and here i was thinking ill be sad when this cars done with. looks like well have content for a good while longer when youre chasing this level of fit and finish :)
Imagine the feeling of driving a new twincam fresh off the lot back in the 80s, I'd bet Neil already feels that way!
Hope it’s worth the effort hahaha
@@juiceboxforyou seeing your excitement over other things in your life I'm sure all the effort will be 1000% worth it! Love what you're doing, big inspiration
The bitsa86!
Bits of this 86 and bits of that 86
15 cars - and a shopping trolley - gone into the body
Insane really
i want a 86 more than any other car right now so at least you have that thing
Some of it at least 😂
I cannot wait to see this thing when its finally done, whenever that will be lolol
Sometime this year is the goal it’s not a million miles away now
the pockets is miiiiiiiint
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. You’re making head way on a dream. Don’t stop now, not for us, we won’t get to drive it. Youll have that moment the music plays over a slow walk out to a perfect car, as you start it up and take it for a picturesque drive.
Been fantasising about that moment for a long time!
@@juiceboxforyou the payoff is mind melting I’m certain. Well played.
robbie williams in the back ... lnice hahahha
I’d swear every bodyshop in Ireland has one of those Seat Leon cup cars in it 😂
Special tanks
Thank god your gone full time. many more videos for all of us and less tv. great News as Clarkson said😂
Let’s see how the year goes ❤
Holeeshit Neil, seems you can't catch a break for foks sake. AT least the 86 will be just about brand new when you're done with it.
This was a big elephant in the room since day one, delighted to see it done properly, it was onto the home stretch after this
Now this is an 86 I can recognize. Missing a panel? Must be juicebox
Лайк авансом 👊👍
Neil, why no weld through primer before spot welding? I know it wont stop the spot weld from rusting but it will surely help the overlap area? Maybe the old weld thru ain't all its cracked up to be? Insanely good finish on that QTR.
We used it, I just didn’t add in the clips for some reason
I know that slightly sweet and very chemical smell of the polyester resin all too well, I was a laminator for a few years
Hell yeah dude! No more cancer, on to makeup! Lol
This was the last piece of the puzzle it’s been flying along since
you are doing a nuts and bolts resto at this point mate 😂
Seems like it
you could have this part. i crashed and have to replace my quarter and the part you cut out is in great condition on mine
Watching those two put the quarter in was one of the most theraputic things ive ever seen. Its a shame to put paint on it haha.
For sure it needed its own video ❤
Is this the same 86 dragged out of the mates back yard yeaaars ago full of "fookin spoidey coonts!" ? :D
It is indeed
fuch yes mate, progress will speed thru now surely?!... 😅
It did pick up pace massively after this
Get her motorin
The primer insidethe panels isn't all that good, just a slight green sheen and that's it.
As with most cars, the bad rot starts from within.
You'll have a great car you can be proud of when it's done though.
Btw dont throw away the interior even if you wont install it like you said before, that stuff costs a FORTUNE now.
And the amount this has been welded/patched doesnt even register to the Mazda Cosmo that Yorkshire Car Restoration is working on, really made me think that AE86's are soon getting to the point that even the badly rusted ones (which also doesn't register compared to the above mentioned car) might be worth doing up considering the costs.
I’m a hoarder everything will be kept 😅
They make a black brush on weld through primer for seam welds..and spray on zinc thats weld through.. you can zinc coat all that shit..Whatever you miss just shoot fucking cavity wax inside with the long ass tube they have.. and underneath the car cosmoline lol.
Can also get cavity paint from Buzzweld. Good stuff.
My first thought with the thumbnail is WHY THE DUCK IS THE QUARTER OFF!!!
I will not watch another episode untill i see a colour 😢😂 credit due for the work but fuck me the suspense
Every year I'm checking the progress on your car and I feel like nothing changed 🤣
Imagine how I feel 😂
the first pothole it will hit the car will fall apart 🤣🤣
If only u could get the car dipped in rust neutralizer and then get the whole thing dipped in primer that would be extremely convenient
I dont know much about these things but could the car theoretically be dipped to remove rust and then dipped in something else to seal it? I cant unsee the the inside of the panels now and it makes me feel sad 😂
Its a Toyota harlequin but instead of the vw version of colour's its a mix of metal from other cars and trollies "neils harlequin"
😂😂
Go make from this Polonez
😢
Progress in reverse is still progress though
Cut up bits from what of the original shell you have, sign them and sell them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that would be epic
Flatten them as much as possible and CNC the juicebox logo out of them
Ive kept every cut, would be awesome to make keyrings from them hahaha
@@juiceboxforyou I'm sure lots of people would love it. Even if you only managed to make a few of them maybe do some kind of raffle. Any money you get could be put back into the car 👌🏻
Pockets ain't empty cuz
Do it right or do it twice.
Why you guys don't use cooper for welding ? Or weld thru primer ? That will be all rusted again next year 😢
Weld through was sprayed before welding 👍
Ижанит не победить
10:28 is that the subaru from rrc restoration?
I don’t think so
Pockets are never empty cuz 😅
This time they might be 😂
I wonder if a chemical dip would be worth it.
Always wondered because of all the hidden rust, would it create new holes where you could never see? Maybe it would be good but I’m gone too far now
It's probably a bad thing, but fibreglass resin smell always makes me ravenously hungry. I get the munchies sooo bad.
Hahaha
Mate, I love your videos and love the car but please for the love of God wear masks when you're painting
wake me up when its done ffs :)
Moist
Will you even want to drive the car after? This is years and years of this shit on one car!!!!
100% never expected this to go so far but I can’t wait for the first proper drive
Ah jeezus I though we were done, man what a perfect job though, those boys do amazing work Barry would approve I think 🤌
Yeah the lads know the score, thankful this part is behind us now
