Thanks for sharing Neil one of the biggest steps of this car build, the final color. As an AE86 3-door Trueno owner (zenki in my case), I could not be more happy to see another person who dreamed more than one decade and a half ago finally realize his dream. And, as other people said here, thanks for not making something like the thumbnail; too many try-harder koukis are already painted and with decals pretending to be something they aren't. Greetings from Japan!
I had a smile on my face this whole video, and it brought a small tear to my eye and this isn’t even my car. You guys have a weird impact on people. Thank you.
Don’t undervalue your joy. It is real. You have had so many good times, met new people, built a whole global community of fans who are rooting for you. All leading to this reward. You earned this joy. 💖
Also, hats off to Jackie for the top quality paint job. All the unseen hours of work show in the final product. That paint finish is like still pool of black oil or a liquid black mirror. Absolutely beautiful. The finish is sublime. Cant wait to see her all bolted together again. Gonna be unreal
At the start I was smiling by the end I was genuinely tearing up 🥹 I went through two secondary schools, collage, 3 jobs and 2 cars to get to this moment! I quite literally had waited years for this video and I’m so proud of the outcome from where it began to painting the car, I’m so glad to be a part of this journey We’re all so proud of you Neil and everyone else involved in this journey ❤
I must have looked like an idiot sitting in the living room and staring at a screen with a smile for 27 minutes straight, only interrupted by laughing at Maserati Mountain Brown. The quality of that paintjob is unreal! Usually I think there's too many black cars, but you convinced me that it was absolutely meant to be for this build! So happy for you Neil!
When Neil started this series with his ae86 I didn’t own an ae86 anymore, but his passion inspired me, and I managed to get a hatch sr5 from a local friend in February 2021, and now it’s on 7j14 white TEs and has a blacktop swap. Keep up the good work Neil!!!
I still remember watching the video of you pulling this thing out of a bush, this has been quite the restoration project, but now its finally coming together, all the misery is finally worth it now
When i was a kid I went to Ireland and we went to the horse races and I'll always remember the accouncer saying that "number tree comes in turd." I've watched many a car painting video but this one hit different. Looks mint pal.
It almost feels like a different car now that its actually in one colour, really makes it hard to appriciate the effort that goes into the body work when its all missmatched. But it all comes toghter the second you see the paint. Fucking incredible work boss man
Still can’t believe it finally happened. Can’t tell how happy I am for you right now Neil. And wow, what a masterpiece of paintjob Jackie did, hands down on him. This is pure dedication.
Fair play to you, I'd never own another black car because of the maintenance it took and the misery involved in trying to rectify the previous owners missteps. But you're starting with a blank canvas. Keeping it mint shouldn't be too hard. Enjoy the car!
I legitimately shed some tear watching this come to fruition This is so freaking awesome, Neil. Great job to everyone! Jackie is a real treat, as well. You can see how much he loves what he does in his face and how excited he was showing how the paint’s mixed and the little trick with the sun gun to see bleed through. This is class. Thank you for sharing with us!!
For those wondering; this is why a good, a properly good paint job costs a lot of money. The labor intensity is off the scale really. Hard to compute in our current fast paced economy. I can see that vision though. While I equally love the JDM stuff for me it would be a old big block B-body Mopar or that 455 '78 Trans-am.
I've said it all along, I'm so glad you've gone to this much effort! In a world of show builds that in real life look like rushed shit, it's good to see real builds and preservation of classics and going over the top. This car will be the benchmark for AE86s now.
Hey Neil, what I like the most about you is how relatable you can be. The childhood dream, making it happen! Bring a tear to my eye. Top job man, much love, keep up the super videos :)
As someone who has painted a car before I appreciate the effort put in to show what goes into painting a car. A lot of stuff gets over looked by many as viewers of builds these days, you’ve done a great job capturing what goes into this sort of thing.
I started watching this build from the beginning when I was working in a body shop blocking panels all day long and have been waiting for this car to be in paint ever since. Paint and body work looks phenomenal!
Its not sad that this brings you so much joy and happiness. Thats the whole meaning of the human experiance. So many people fail to hit that goal in life and if you it takes an old japanese icon of the road then you sir have won. I cannot wait to see this assemble and that first drive. The hard work has already paid off dude. Well fucking done to you and everyone who was onboard to male this possible x
Looks like glass lad 👍. Like a shinier 205 black. Jackies EG was class back in the day, remember getting a good look around it in mondello at japfest 2013 id say it was. Probably one of the first hondas with a clean engine bay. Fairplay lads.
From finding a rusted frame to having it painted and sealed. I've been strapped in the whole time and hope to be here long after you're already chirping the wheels and doing RINGS, LAD
I'm speechless I've been watching the series for about 2-3 years now. I sprained my both ankles and couldn't walk for about a year and I saw your videos and it gave me hope and joy when I was in a dark place. didn't know anything about cars you inspired me to do custom graphics on cars and now I'm a paint helper/prepper and will be painting my 83 camry soon. this channel doesn't get enough attention that it deserves. you clearly don't do this for any other reason than PURE PATION for cars. You're the best Neil every episode is pure gold and well worth the wait thank you for sharing.
Jackie has the patience of a proper craftsman. My full respect! I'm as happy for him that this part is finally finished. Well done, lads. This was a pleasure to watch.
I've been following this series and 86' since the ninth grade, I've been graduated for a while now but I'm so glad to see this thing finally getting paint! Thanks for getting me into 86's, I hope I can own my own soon.
Been following this build for years, to see paint go on, I’m tearing up. This build has felt very personal after a while, I’ve grown attached to Juicebox and this AE86…. Can’t wait to see it all tgt
I have followed this build from day 1 and it has been by far my favorite build on RUclips, the amount of time, care, passion and craftmanship you and everyone has sunk into this car is truly amazing and unbelievable. Thank you for documenting all of this and I cant wait to see you enjoy this car for the rest of your life! You have absolutely earned it man!
That shot of the 86 right when it pulled in the booth needs to be framed. Such a cool shot. All that primer gray had such a black and white vibe. Very cool. Can’t wait for some rings!
i literally jumped in my car so i could keep watching my kids play outside and this video at the same time i wouldve missed work for this video we have waited 5+ years for this day it looks amazing
Fair play to you neil and all involved.. the car looks savage.. would love to be standing next to it with it all put back together.. i have my 86.. 13 years now and it will be going for a new colour after 86 corolla day in mondello.. 👍
Hell yeah ! I nearly called black too dammit ! reminds me of Honda's Pirates Black with the purple/maroon metallic love it 😍 can't wait to see her all together and the choice of wheels too
the resoult, that attention to detail, that care with the silicone in the panel joints, the mint pockets xDD just imagining what you must have felt makes me excited hahahaha the time to enjoy it is near! totally agree with the misery part tho xDDD
So happy for you! It's incredible how many people have blood sweat and tears into this and it really shows. Looks fucking amazing. I have a Mx-5 that I have put some serious body work into that was mint and I have such a love hate relationship with it because I was so afraid to drive the damn thing. I recently "totaled" it and bought it back and am working on re building it. I can't get rid of it because my dad passed away while we were in the middle of building it. These recent videos are helping me stay motivated on chipping away version 3.0. I won't be able to recreate how perfect it was before but I'm definitely going to drive it and enjoy it. I know you're going to but I really hope you drive and enjoy this car brother!!
unbelievable how emotional some irish blokes 86 build gets me. sooo happy for you!!
Yep
Yeah - and I don't even like 86's :D I have no idea how I got hooked on this journey so many years ago now... Good on ya Niel!
Thanks for sharing Neil one of the biggest steps of this car build, the final color. Cant wait to see her all bolted together again. Gonna be unreal
I live in his home town and can't believe I don't know more about him
“The last little bit”… heard that a few times over the past 6 years of videos
The most attention to detail & professionally done paint and body work that I've seen on YT.
Salute gentleman & Kudos Neil
At the start I was smiling by the end I was genuinely tearing up 🥹
I went through two secondary schools, collage, 3 jobs and 2 cars to get to this moment! I quite literally had waited years for this video and I’m so proud of the outcome from where it began to painting the car, I’m so glad to be a part of this journey
We’re all so proud of you Neil and everyone else involved in this journey ❤
Thisss is ittt the moment we’ve alll been waiting for lady and gents
As a cosmetic paint specialist of 15+ years, your man Jackie has done an absolutely FLAWLESS job, cherrish it Neil it will be a work of art!
Well done 🔥
It's stunning the body is so straight and glossy and it's not even had a polish yet. Congrats!
LOL the thumbnail being panda is the best, so glad you didn't miss out on that
When I saw the panda I thought that I was gonna get rick rolled when I clicked on the video.
I'm so glad it wasn't. Too many weebs nowadays
Should've had the Satisfaction Guaranteed flashing the entire video
I must have looked like an idiot sitting in the living room and staring at a screen with a smile for 27 minutes straight, only interrupted by laughing at Maserati Mountain Brown. The quality of that paintjob is unreal! Usually I think there's too many black cars, but you convinced me that it was absolutely meant to be for this build! So happy for you Neil!
Haha dont worry, u were not alone 😅
Opened my eyes to different black
Same here 😂

Ive never been so keen to see a colour revel before. Not what I expected but my god is that lovely
Looks class. Looking forward to seeing it with all the panels on! Long time in the making.
I still remember watching the video of you pulling this thing out of a bush, this has been quite the restoration project, but now its finally coming together, all the misery is finally worth it now
So fuckin sick!!!! I love how you picked the black!! DARTH FUCKIN VADER!!
I’m so glad that you shared the whole painting process. People usually cut it out but it’s Like watching someone cut the grass very satisfying.
When i was a kid I went to Ireland and we went to the horse races and I'll always remember the accouncer saying that "number tree comes in turd."
I've watched many a car painting video but this one hit different. Looks mint pal.
So happy for you! Ive been following for years it's kind of crazy to watch things finish
Wowowowow man the feeling after body work prison is unlike no other and I’ll just say i didn’t expect any less, she’s a piece of art
It almost feels like a different car now that its actually in one colour, really makes it hard to appriciate the effort that goes into the body work when its all missmatched. But it all comes toghter the second you see the paint.
Fucking incredible work boss man
Ive paused this video so many times to look at this paint joy this makes us proud to be Irish seeing unreal body and paint work n the car is amazing

two of the best 86 builds on youtube, jimmy oaks's millienium green 86 and neils black 86.
Wicked to of followed this long journey to paint, what a lush colour! ❤️ It!!! Can't wait to see it back together. 🤘
There's no way that this isn't the most rust free AE86 on the planet. What a meticulous project
As someone who has painted a car before I appreciate the effort put in to show what goes into painting a car. A lot of stuff gets over looked by many as viewers of builds these days, you’ve done a great job capturing what goes into this sort of thing.
The greatest 86 restoration captured on film
I started watching this build from the beginning when I was working in a body shop blocking panels all day long and have been waiting for this car to be in paint ever since. Paint and body work looks phenomenal!
I just get goosebumps of the excitement of Neil

Seeing this car in final paint job is something amazing after all this year's, remembering how it looked on the beginning. 🥳🎉
Thank goodness you went black, they look best in black! I painted my first one white and regreted as soon as the paint dried.
Black is the hardest color to lay down in the booth too! Shows all the body lines, body work, and imperfections! This is MINT lad
Wow Jackie has gone above n beyond, I love how obsessive he is about his work, serious talent!
Bet your buzzing now it’s at this stage eh lad 😎
Great color, reminds me of my mica black gt86 😍
That shot of the 86 right when it pulled in the booth needs to be framed. Such a cool shot. All that primer gray had such a black and white vibe. Very cool. Can’t wait for some rings!

@@JP_A3 i got it in sept 2011 for €2900.. and have put €€€€€ into it.. its a passion now and it gets worse as you get older..
