Christopher Robin would ABSOLUTELY have walked over the little wall and posts! As would I have, until about 10 years ago . Now, I would want to but I would resist. Sigh.
I had no idea that green sticks sink. No clue. I don’t remember floating sticks as a child. I floated something, skipped rocks and counted cows floating by when the snows thawed. We had a river in our backyard. Mom wanted the house next to the water, but dad was familiar with flooding and not as keen. We lived about 45 minutes drive from Durango Colorado and the river gathered the waters coming down a mountain range (not to be confused with a single mountain) and the runoff from the snow melt encouraged to clear out by the early rains. The water dropped down about 4500ft from 12,000ft at the mountains to 8000ft where we lived. Because of the steep drop, the water would come down very rapidly and often without warning. Cows that were getting a drink from the water or grazing near the water’s edge would be caught in the wall of water and float very quickly downriver. There was a sharp bend to the right and the cows would wash up at a very shallow beach like incline, where the cows would enjoy grazing a new pasture until my parents could make out the brand and call the owner(s). The farmer across the river where the cows washed up would try to claim them as his. My father did not think much of that and shared the man’s brand with the farmers upstream. It didn’t matter that much because the new marks of branding would make it obvious that the original brand had been modified. Ear tags were not as common then and I don’t know that they were as good as a brand. Not as cruel. Stealing cattle was a hanging offense, though those caught were often given time in prison. It took the local sheriff to explain the law to the man and make it clear that washing up on his property during a flood did not make them his. He threatened to kill and butcher them before they were found, which was probably not the smartest way to handle it. He learned to leave the be but he was a very angry man and made his opinion known about the trespassing cattle. Big rabbit trail of a post. Sorry! So dad put the house about 25ft from the water’s edge and dug a trench halfway between the river and the house. He took one end of the trench further away from the river to an irrigation ditch of a decent size one the north end of the property and took it to the property line on the south end. The next farm over took the trench further south to someplace but I can’t say where. We never had a flood, the house was close enough to the water to make mom happy and that’s all I can say about living next to the river. Watching you two floating things under the bridge in the stream looked fun and I might have missed out but we had lots of fun and I was sorry later for moving away and not building a house there so my kids could grow up there. I wasn’t thinking but I did have to make a living.
Great video! Thank you for that!!!

Watching you two keep trying to win at pooh sticks makes me wonder if that's where the term "" STICK TO IT "" came from tsk tsk ??? I make pizza quesadeas all the time like that but with finely diced green pepper , green onion , pineapple , ham , pizza pepperoni , shredded mozzerella then when cooked i cut it like a pizza using a pizza wheel cutting from the middle outward ( to keep the filling inside ) and dip it in a mixture of sour cream and salsa whilst eating it ,,its sometimes easier to put one round in the pan ,, load only one side with ingredients fold over the other half , this makes it less messy to flip as it is flipped right in the pan ,,,mmmm i'm getting hungry !! Oh and there are no calories ( I may have lied a little ) Cheers Cherryl from Canada

That sounds delicious, Cherryl. We must invest in a pizza cutter for the van 😁

Hi, love the video, can I ask whether you now need to pay to park in Ashdown Forests car parks? They used to be free.

The one we parked in for the walk to Pooh Sticks Bridge is still free but in most of the others you have to pay - £5 for the day and you can move between car parks without paying again.

Oh my word that was just gorgeous! I shall have to see if I can do some of that when I get back down that way in July... oh yes, am finally with wheels and will be on the road by end of June (though not in full get-out; enough to take a test run for a few weeks and figure out more of the hows and wheres of operating it). Now I only need to get my video head working... you two are one of my handful of inspirations and role models! YAM xx (I have 'rebranded' slightly... @yaminthegrey)

Still eat too fast and I’ve been retired for almost 14 years… you can only reheat food a few times.
Working on the helicopter it was worth it though 😂😂

Yes we have all come away from the job with that affliction. Helicopter, you had to have a cast iron stomach for that game not that I ever did it 😁👍
