They really have some beautiful ponchos. I just got one from the market. I love it so much. Would love to visit Ecuador soon too, to meet these beautiful local people. Thanks for the very inspiring video guys!
45 years ago I was on an LDS mission in Ecuador. I went to the market and bought the same Poncho that the Otavalo Indians wear (I had to specify this to the vendors). I wanted something that was legit and not touristy. I still use it to this day.
As a weaver (with some knowledge of shearing, spinning, and dying wool) I can tell you there could easily be over 200 hours of labor in that poncho. You didn't pay too much.
1. I’m not American so I don’t know the t-shirt price in that country. 2. It’s customary to haggle in the market. 3. As a short/long term traveller/backpacker I need to stretch my saving as much as possible.
In USA a tee- shirt cost $20, so a poncho for that money, it worth it. Enjoy guys traveling and continue making wonderful videos.
Thank you kindly! ✌️
