It baffles me that Jodie was a child actor, and yet grew up so well-adjusted, intelligent, creative, and genuine. And Contact for me, as someone else has also said, changed the way I watched sci-fis, but it was just such an amazing, well-crafted role for a female that it inspired me on multiple levels - even as a 7 or 8 year old watching it. She's aged enviously well, but aside from the physical, she is just a beautiful person.
Kendra Lewellyn Well because everything is about choices. Being in Hollywood doesn’t mean being corrupted by drugs or cults or sexual misconduct. You make your own choices. And Jodie is a very wise woman.
I've had a crush on Jodie Foster for over 40 years. She's a real, down to earth person. I'd Love to spend a day with her and just chill out and have a great talk. She's awesome. I have a family and all that, but still, I'd Love to meet her and introduce her to my grandchildren. What a lovely person she is.
"How?" was it 'amazing?' She essentially 'played a character' and that's all. An utterly 'flat' and 'automaton'performance. (she imitates well...an excellent 'mimic' of others)
Gerry Nightingale, you have no idea about acting. The subtleties in her performance were amazing. Acting is far more than just memorizing and mimicking. She played a strong willed, intelligent woman who persisted. Her accent was also done well. Her performance is far from flat. Watch it again and look at her facial expressions, body movements and all around performance. Maybe you’ll learn something.
Gerry Nightingale Did you even read my comment ? I didn’t even make a reference to your name. I typed a actual fair argument and you respond to someone making fun of your name ? Then when someone is showing you up with facts as you complain that people are fucking with your name ? Pathetic. And you say you don’t care , And I Beleive you. But that’s what RUclips is , You comment first and others reply to your statement. Wether you like it or not is irrelevant. Welcome to the real world.
Gerry Nightingale No response? I didn’t think so. Go back to your basement where you belong. Don’t act tough with your comments if you can’t defend yourself after.
ItalianoYMexicano I have a feeling that if someone were to assassinate the current US president, that just might impress her and win her heart... Just throwing that out there...
It's actually in the interview after the commercial break at the end of this video. It's the video clip on this channel with "Black Mirror"in the title.
Jodie played Ellie in 'Contact,' based on Carl Sagan's book of the same name. She was fantastic in the role. It's one of my all time favorite movies and what cemented my respect for her acting chops.
Was just about to type the same thing. That move gets me every time and a big reason is her performance. So captivating how she portrays the character fragile and strong at the same time. And BTW, what a cast in that movie!
Read the book in the 1980's, was amazing they finally made it into a movie. The book was much better and had nothing to do with the main point of the film, a conflict over religion vs science.
For one who isn't a fan of scary movies, 'The Silence of the Lambs' still is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just so g o o d ! Jodie is an amazing woman by the way, so down to earth too.
Have always adored her during her entire acting career and always will. She is still drop dead gorgeous too and sooo classy. She is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. This was so nice to see her these days and actually hear her speak so casually and candidly.
she really didn't age that fantastically. she looks nice, thin and natural but she does look she is in her 50s. Sandra Bullock is similar age and looks much younger/better. Halle Berry and Jlo are both close to 50 and look natural and like they were 32 (I suspect they aren't 100% natural though).
it's just sad that we talk about jodie fosters appearance and how well she has aged in the comment section of a video that is titled "We Need A 'Next Step' In The Sexual Harassment Movement"... seriously guys? :D
It is, and I'm french. It surprised me when she talked, I was like "wow, she doesn't have an accent, that's amazing". I can tell you, if she was in France, we wouldn't be able to tell she's american.
Jodie Foster is the only person I know whose first language isn't French but who can still speak it without an accent. It's really impressive how she dubbed her own movies, I'm French myself and didn't realize it until I read it online a couple of years ago.
carla juana I’ve always known she’s a Packers fan, therefore my admiration for her grew up more lol. JK, I love her because she’s is for the Art of acting, not for the fame and I do respect that a lot.
She's one of those highly impressive, highly intelligent and wonderfully made individuals I have ever seen on film. She is one of my idol of an actress and she has proven herself as a very good model as an individual and as a woman who can do all sorts of things and still be feminine at that. More power to you and may your Star shine as brightly as the noon day sun coz gurl, you can spread a lot of sunshine here, right here, right now!Thank you a lot for being you!
I first saw Jodie in Bugsy Malone on TV and later on VHS. I just checked the release date fUK release date) for Bugsy Malone - my birth year. I didn't even know that it was that old.
I appreciate that Jodie Foster believes that there should be a dialogue between the men and women involved in these sort of things, and for them to have a chance to better themselves, rather than, as Stephen put it “just disappear”.
Omarose Moon yeah. Loved that version way more than the Lohan one, even with Jamie Lee Curtis in it, too. But my favorite Jodie Foster movie was Candleshoe.
she's talented , smart (which I love the most about her) , badass , has aged so well (hard to believe Stephen is only 2 yrs younger to her, seems like 10 yrs older to her). A completely perfect person in most possible terms 👍
One of my high school science teachers showed us Silence of the Lambs in class and laughed at us being startled by the face scene. That's my public school experience in a nutshell.
Not a cooking class, thank God, but I have no idea why we watched it. Plus, it's rated R, so I don't think the teacher was supposed to show it in the first place.
Jodie Foster is an actor of exceptional talent, depth and beauty who was always ahead of her peers, by the time actors of her age were in their diapers she was making commercials, by the time they learned to speak, she was making movies for Disney, by the time they starting going to the school, she was winning awards and getting nominated for the Oscars, by the time they decided to enter films, Jodie decided to leave it behind and enjoy the ivy league world which she graduated with magna cum laude, by the time her peers had their breakthrough she already had won two Oscars and transitioned to the director's chair. An extraordinary talent, who's contribution to cinema is unparalleled and exquisite. A sheer gift to the world of acting and filmmaking
What's funny is she has a disconnect. She doesn't see what's so scary about silence of the lambs yet she herself was scared of Anthony Hopkins during the movie at one point even having a visceral reaction to Hannibal during one of their dialogs. One of the reasons the movie is scary is because she is scared. And Anthony Hopkins being Anthony Hopkins scared the hell out of all of us.
no purpose of offending anyone but homosexuals are so much greater than heterosexuals, I mean look at this woman she's a perfect paradigm of a intelligent and sane person 👍
Nice. But Stephen is a bit wrong at the end, saying that the translation for the title of the movie ( "Le silence des agneaux" ) doesn't sound scary. As scary for a French speaker as when in English for an English speaker.
"But you were like, 'Naw. I caught him in the end.'" You're half right, Stephen. Remember, there were _two_ villains in _Silence of the Lambs._ Agent Clarice interrogated the one played by Anthony Hopkins to catch the _other,_ and yes, she successfully _caught_ the other, but then the one played by Hopkins got _away_ in the most gruesome way _imaginable,_ and then called back to say that he was "having a friend for dinner."
Kendra Lewellyn same here!
High emotional maturity/emotional intelligence. She's gifted.
Kendra Lewellyn
Well because everything is about choices.
Being in Hollywood doesn’t mean being corrupted by drugs or cults or sexual misconduct.
You make your own choices. And Jodie is a very wise woman.
i know Im kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Dennis Alfred flixportal xD
I've had a crush on Jodie Foster for over 40 years. She's a real, down to earth person. I'd Love to spend a day with her and just chill out and have a great talk. She's awesome. Silence of the Lambs is a masterpiece and one of the best thrillers of all time. Her performance is Amazing in that film!!
"How?" was it 'amazing?' She essentially 'played a character' and that's all. An utterly 'flat' and 'automaton'performance. (she imitates well...an excellent 'mimic' of others)

I know by reading your idiotic comments. Now calm down, junior.

This video is not aptly named.
I was waiting for the "next step" convo...
They mixed up the clips - here is the aptly named clip. ruclips.net/video/x8lKPzFDHpU/видео.html
ugh, was frustrating
Jama Thaughn
Haha, that clip is inaptly named as well since the title isn't about the sexual harrassment scandals.
spb what would you rather it was called?
she has the most incredible voice
GEX so so so so hot. and witty and smart. God she's gergeous
and a great laugh!
ItalianoYMexicano I have a feeling that if someone were to assassinate the current US president, that just might impress her and win her heart... Just throwing that out there...
She didn't talk about that in this vid though.
I'm curious as to what her 'next step' would be.
It's actually in the interview after the commercial break at the end of this video. It's the video clip on this channel with "Black Mirror"in the title.
definitely mislabeled
Emhyr looks like they mixed up the titles.
Jodie played Ellie in 'Contact,' based on Carl Sagan's book of the same name. She was fantastic in the role. It's one of my all time favorite movies and what cemented my respect for her acting chops.
loved that movie too!

Yup.
One of my all-time favourite movies too, and it most definitely solidified Jodie acting abilities.
Carney with Robbie Robertson and "no bike helmet" was also good.
Video title is misleading she doesn't talk about it in this video
lol I didn't even notice that until I read this
Here here!
Jodie foster says words.
Suleiman Mustafa - Yes she does.
It's around 8 minutes in when she talks about the Green Bay Packers and Cheese Heads.
She is PURE CLASS.
What a Classy woman...
J. Sams
So intelligent women scare you huh? Interesting
For one who isn't a fan of scary movies, 'The Silence of the Lambs' still is one of my favorite movies of all time.
It's just so g o o d !
Jodie is an amazing woman by the way, so down to earth too.
camelshit Never have seen it. I've heard it's a masterpiece, but I simply cannot watch films like that. My loss, I suppose...
She looks fantastic. Has aged just as gracefully as she comes across. Incredible actress
I have loved Jodie since her guest appearances on 60's sitcoms. Always an intelligent, classy act.
The face, the brains. The accent. ugh! just.. just... beautiful. going to binge in youtube videos of her now
Her French is so absurdly flawless it's like I'm listening to a native
moiseman she went to Lyccé français de Los Angeles which is a French school
I think this video was mistitled
All youtube videos are mistitled.
Indeed. I'm surprised by how small the dislike button is.
Have always adored her during her entire acting career and always will. She is still drop dead gorgeous too and sooo classy. She is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. This was so nice to see her these days and actually hear her speak so casually and candidly.
She looks so elegant. And I cannot believe she is 55
Jane Eyre A lot of people seem to think people in their 40s and 50s are old and wrinkly. They're not, unless they've led a very unhealthy life.
She looks 55. Which is fine. Looking your age is A-OK.
I loved her in Flight plan and the movie Contact.
God, Jodie looks amazing for her age, what a beauty!!!
I will always associate her with Contact over anything else...❤❤❤
Same here mate. Changed the way i perceive of sci-fis for ever.
"They're alive!"
LOVE her in that !!!
Taxi Driver
To me she will always be CLARICE!!
She has definitely aged fantastically. Very impressive, success suits her well.
It's not hard to age well when you can afford it.
she really didn't age that fantastically. she looks nice, thin and natural but she does look she is in her 50s. Sandra Bullock is similar age and looks much younger/better. Halle Berry and Jlo are both close to 50 and look natural and like they were 32 (I suspect they aren't 100% natural though).
+tamas varga Halle Berry definitely had work done...Especially in the lips and check bones.
it's just sad that we talk about jodie fosters appearance and how well she has aged in the comment section of a video that is titled "We Need A 'Next Step' In The Sexual Harassment Movement"... seriously guys? :D
why the hell shouldn't we. people are free to talk about stuff you know.
Will always love Jodie Foster!
She looks so young.
And yet doesn't seem to have had any work done! She's so gorgeous.
She's only 77.
mmmmno she doesnt. she looks her age which is 55. but she still looks beautiful
@Ady P loool!
Her pronunciation in French is actually perfect!
Non, ce n'est pas vrai.
It's beyond perfect for an American imo
ruclips.net/video/L6S8xrYmJDM/видео.html
It is, and I'm french. It surprised me when she talked, I was like "wow, she doesn't have an accent, that's amazing". I can tell you, if she was in France, we wouldn't be able to tell she's american.
Bejeerk I completely agree! 👌
I love her so much!
I do too!!!!
Jodie Foster is the only person I know whose first language isn't French but who can still speak it without an accent. It's really impressive how she dubbed her own movies, I'm French myself and didn't realize it until I read it online a couple of years ago.
She's one of the few actresses you can call a TRUE movie star! She's witty, classy and down to earth! Love her! Brilliant actress!
This is delightful! I love her so much but never seen her so chill! Fantasy football??
carla juana
I’ve always known she’s a Packers fan, therefore my admiration for her grew up more lol. JK, I love her because she’s is for the Art of acting, not for the fame and I do respect that a lot.

The genius of this woman knows no boundaries
i wasn't really interested to watch this interview but I remembered she have a way of talking and wanted to listen again. But, she's still beautiful!
I love Jodie Foster
"make sure you sit down, because...if you stand up too long, your feet are gonna hurt" ....LMAO!!!!
I've had a crush on Jodi since I was about 5 or 6 when I saw her on Kung Fu and it is always a pleasure to see her
CONTACT.
I first saw Jodie in Bugsy Malone on TV and later on VHS. I just checked the release date fUK release date) for Bugsy Malone - my birth year. I didn't even know that it was that old.

i remember her first in Taxi Driver. We have been dedicated fans for a long time.
Just watched Silence of the Lambs and looked her up on RUclips. This is like the perfect interview.
I saw her in Silence of the Lamb, and I knew she was Brilliant!!!!
Sharon Isaac
Since I saw her in “contact”...I fell in love 🥰
Mislabeled, nothing about sexual harassment in this clip, but an enjoyable interview about Jodie Foster herself. Charming.
Two clips with Jodie from the show - they mixed up the titles. Here's the other clip. ruclips.net/video/x8lKPzFDHpU/видео.html
She has never been in a bad movie.
Tres bien! Jodie is a badass. "Sounds like a delicious dish." 😄🤣😄
actors are so amazing. they are truely way more special than common folks.
She dubs herself! Awesome! I really love it when actors do that
Freaky Friday, oldie but a goodie.
I go back to "Paper Moon" I've loved her acting for years.
I Love Jodie Foster! I've Grown Up Watching Her Grow Up In Movies! Thank You For Having Her!
She seems to have a perfect French, my jaw dropped when i heard her. She is such a talented and intelligent person. I hope we'll see more of her :)
Green Bay!!! omg I love her. She’s fantastic.
AdLibby
Me too lol “G” ❣️❣️
IT PUTS THE LOTION IN THE BASKET!
One of my high school science teachers showed us Silence of the Lambs in class and laughed at us being startled by the face scene. That's my public school experience in a nutshell.
Was it a cooking class? What high school subject could possibly be enhanced by watching that movie?
Not a cooking class, thank God, but I have no idea why we watched it. Plus, it's rated R, so I don't think the teacher was supposed to show it in the first place.
Candleshoe...
loved her in that movie. Still trying to find an old VHS copy.
Helen Patterson you, too? I loved that movie!
Hahaha Loved candleshoe. Loved all of her kid movies. Freaky Friday, bugsy malone etc.
So nice to see her, and she seems to have it all together.Glad to have someone to still admire.
She is so delightful. 💙
Freaky Friday and Foxes. I grew up with those films. Love her!
Loved her in Foxes and Bugsy Malone. Two movies people rarely talk about.
Still sooo cute and hot! Interesting face features as ever!
I had no idea she spoke French fluently. She s awesome!
We need an attentive title writer in the Late Show Video movement.
I just had a mental image of Weinstein in the Buffalo Bill getup, dancing for the mirror.
And now you do too. Marry Christmas!
Misleading title.
I like it when Steve is overwhelmed by a guest. He is really excited.
Her French is soooo good! Beautiful accent :)
I miss her movies, loved her 00’s run as an action star in those thrillers
C'est incroyable ! je ne savais pas que c'était elle qui faisait le doublage en Français dans ses films ! Très impressionnant Madame Foster !
Ce soir à 21h, le Silence des Agneaux. Bon appétit !
Absolutely love her she has been my biggest inspiration since I was 12 years old
I wish I was as good at talking to women as Stephen Colbert. He always turns up the wit and charm.
1:48
me: omg she looked at me!!
Love her laugh and talent!!
Thank you
She is still exquisite 5 decades into her career!
Beautiful woman. Nuff said.
She is so elegant and gives off a happy vibe.
The scary character in Silence... was Ted Levine. He was amazing as the bad guy.
We are the same age. I fell in love with her at the age of eight, and I still am.
I remember her most from "The Accused".
Jodie seems like such a nice person in "real life." Very down to earth and friendly
no purpose of offending anyone but homosexuals are so much greater than heterosexuals, I mean look at this woman she's a perfect paradigm of a intelligent and sane person 👍
Jodie Foster: I never went to college, I feel like I dont have any credentials, only jobs.
... AND she's a Packer fan!?!?? I didn't think I could like her even more than I already did... ❤
She is adorable :)
Yo, Is this a promo for silence of the lambs or what? :D
Nice. But Stephen is a bit wrong at the end, saying that the translation for the title of the movie ( "Le silence des agneaux" ) doesn't sound scary. As scary for a French speaker as when in English for an English speaker.
Such a wonderful woman. And I love how she is aging, very naturally and so attractive.
Stephen really rubbing it in with the "Five decades! 50 years! Half a century!"
He seemed a bit intimidated by her....maybe just because it was the first time for him to interview her.
I was still in highschool...at the time it was the scariest movie ever!
she's one of the most loveable celebs i know.
The Princes that never ages, what's in your water holy silence of the lambs Wow !
"But you were like, 'Naw. I caught him in the end.'"
You're half right, Stephen.
She's always cute no matter what age
How is she 55!! Gosh I look older than her :'(
Me too, ... you?
One of the best actresses !!!!
Jodie Foster is just a kickass person
