Monster Strike is also an interesting story. I played it when it first came here, but I think the match making failed in the US because we have far less population density than cities in Japan. Anyway thank you for the fun video.😊
That was a great video. Splatoon and Dragon Quest are still hanging in there. Impressive. I’m old. I play 三国志、悪魔城のドラキュラ、Marvel vs Capcom and Puzzle Bobble.
Splatoon and Dragon Quest are two of the most popular franchises in Japan right now, I'd say.
Dragon Quest is the most popular RPG for sure, even Final Fantasy isn't as close. Here in Europe DQ is sadly very niche in most countries. FF is more well-known, but in general people prefer Western/PC RPGs in my experience. Different strokes and all that.
I still play rocket league and crash bandicoot 4 just find them so fun and addictive
@@therunawaykid6523 oh yeah well I still play Psychic Force 2012, Power Instinct 3: Groove on Fight, Yu Yu Hakusho Tokubetsuhen, and Astra Superstars how bout that
really heartwarming I gonna say everyone looks so happy talking about games and willing to share,no one gonna believe japan is a introverted country when watching this, and I personnally envy the abondant game culture here,a bunch of games people are playing right now, that`s so cool
Initial D arcade is so cool, especially if your car matches one ingame. Really pretty, hypnotic nighttime levels illuminated by headlights on some versions.
also I'm playing Webfishing and Balatro rn
Wangan Midnight Maximum Time is pretty wild tho. The sense of speed dodging regular cars is on another level.
Jaw dropped when starfox assault was mentioned. Absolutely loved that game growing up. Buddies and I would always splitscreen vs each other for hours!
As a fellow gamer in the States, I love this topic. Glad to see japanese adults enjoying gaming as much as we do here. So much variety too.
i feel like, if you asked this in a US equivalent city like NYC you would get like max 3-4 different games with COD and fortnite being the most popular.
lots of games are literally made in Japan tho...
@@sigitkus7029Ya but a lot of Japanese games and consoles don’t really do too well there. Most young ppl are playing mobile games and gatcha stuff
Blud has no idea that games are part of Japanese culture. 😂
You do know that the Majority of games came and originated in Japan right? 🗾
Kid you have still have much to learn about the history of the world 😆
2:53 STAR FOX ASSAULT WOAA I HAVENT PLAYED THAT IN FOREVER im so surprised to see it mentionned here!! LOVE THAT
Nintendo should make a proper sequel to "Star Fox Assault" with no control gimmicks.
I mean she COULD speed up on the mountain pass in real life, she just doesn't want to get arrested.
I think arrested is the least of your worries if you do that. She has a very cool taste in games I think
more like she doesnt want to wreck her car

Great video! Japanese people are just so cool, calm, friendly, and seem really at peace. I love it!
I loved that about Japan
That was very sneaky with the RAID commercial. Well done and great video!
I miss playing pubg with japanese people. They had the best teamwork and would do their best to communicate in English with me. Good times.
Do their best? Bet it was difficult to communicate if they knew little to no English- even though I remember playing chained together with three online randoms and for some reason we were totally in sync and helped each other all with zero worlds apart from the 3 2 1 button prompt that is still one of my favourite online gaming memories of all time
The fact that Sephiroth dude’s favourite game is Pokemon Snap is so based
I myself am a gamer, so I love videos like this. Thought the intro was cool too :) Currently I'm playing a few games but Metaphor: ReFantazio is the main one right now. Keep up the great work!!
Hows metaphor, i botught it, but havent played it since im playin other games rn, me monkey brain gets distracted real quick.
@@CarlosDiaz-fs6cv I'm loving it so far. Pretty long game so expect to spend a loooot of time playing it, but it's pretty much Persona in a medieval fantasy setting. So if you enjoy Persona, you'll enjoy Metaphor.
More games videos like this please! It's really fun to see so many different people and all the different types of games they like. This was cool!
I know a Star Fox game on snes from my generation. IDK the correct title anymore but it was fun. i still love it when i see footage of it.
Guys tell this game's name. I wanna play it...
on the SNES, the original Star Fox game was simply called Star Fox. Is that the one you mean?
I just recently bought Monster Hunter World actually. It came out in 2018 and there have been two more Monster Hunter games since so I was surprised to see people mention it in the video. I have not played it yet but am looking forward to it. (Note: "Iceborn" is not actually part of the game's title, it's an expansion pack.)
I bought MHW a few months ago and it didn't really click with me but I hope you like it !
@@selfloathingweekly Thanks bro
Love seeing how much they like Splatoon over there! It's also my fav
what do you mean 'over there'? Splatoon is literally a japanese game :)) *kidding
yassss!!! im was amazed how many ppl said it was there fav game too!!!
Wish some of my IRL friends were into it. But not a single one I have known since Splatoon 1 has cared. Its the most fun and innovative shooter imo.
Hell yeah Nikke fans represent 7:22 best story in videogame history. Nothing has ever made me cry as much as Nikke has.
7:22 bro forgot to explain the part where you play NIKKE with one hand only 😂
Those ads are so annoying
I do not know many games where you hold the phone vertically and play with two hands
What aloser
🤣🤣🤣
we be playin on pc @@RuruLaRuru
Oh may god, that dude plays Beatmania! I'm shocked people even still play it. Such a great game that barely anyone knows outside of Japan or Korea it seems.
Also, it's SO nice to see younger people talking about and playing older games like Initial D (wow deep cut!) and that Megaman collection etc. Plus, some of those cosplay outfits were terrific.
Love this. Favorite game is such a hard question for me because for me game experiences are so different, contribute to different things I value, and defined my life up to my late 20s, so it's hard to pinpoint any singular game I want to hold in the spotlight, but I can by certain categories.

What an awesome gaming community. Gotta love it. ✌️
@0:40 As someone that absolutely adores the Gundam EXVS franchise, this man is my hero right now
The real suffering is the games basically never getting home ports.
@ I don’t know about all that. Starward is starting to gain real mindshare ground against Gundam EXVS, and the only way Bandai Namco will stop that from becoming worse is to find a way to make it available worldwide.
I laughed when the RAID music came on. But man, great variety in these choices, and even with a lot of picks that are top picks within their genres, you get fun answers like Snap.
I like these light-hearted interviews along with the serious ones, but this one is probably one of my favorites
It's like that meme, "when you're an adult, no one ask you what your favorite color or dinosaur is when you're an adult"
I've just gotten back into FFXIV I grew up playing mmos like WOW but grew to love the world of FF so here I am. Would defo love to see some more gaming topics. I asked Japanese exchange students at my uni if they knew of 'Trails of cold steel' (aka Eiyuu Densetsu Sen no Kiseki) since I really love the series, but they totally didn't know. I thought Nihon Falcon was popular or maybe it just isn't their most popular game.
I think that, even in Japan, Falcom is a Niche developer.
7:23 I knew their would be a Nikke mention. That I recently just started playing and wish I had picked it up years ago. It's clowned on as a gooner game because of the fan service designs of the characters but the story and squad based tactical gameplay is really fun.
Really? Try playing genshin impact
Haven't played it yet but in today's Konbini Confessions video, Miyachi interviewed a Nikke cosplayer lol
@@Remonzo100 I played Genshin back at launch years ago and some of my friends still play it. It's fine but the story and characters don't really interest me very much.
@@coolbrotherf127 Genshin at launch vs now is a completely different game.
Good luck on your journey, new commander 🫡
3:48 bros jawline is impressive

Jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkkkkk
Been playing Nikke since day 1 and the guy sums it up pretty well. The developers really seem to pay attention to their playerbase and even though I initially got baited to play because of fan-service, the story locked me in. The other game I've been playing is Deadlock. Third-person shooter/MOBA currently in Alpha that's known to be a passion project by IceFrog. Anything IceFrog touches is Gold.
They even embraced doro
I just started playing and I got so many free summons. And yeah the story is actually interesting. I was surprised.
Nice second anniversary event. I really love Cinderella.
Do you play it with one hand?
@@ricerice9486 indeed 🗿

This was fun to hear! Interesting what Japanese people are playing lately, j definitely need recommendations and loveeee the zelda and yor cosplay ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Starfox Assault mention 🔥
7:23 Based Commander caring deeply for his Nikke.
To the guy who payed Elden Ring...respect bro!
Such an underrated game 😔😔
@@sailingadventurer I think its perfectly rated ngl
@@AtomicZamurai Yeah it's praised pretty highy lol
@@sailingadventurerIt's a 2022 GOTY, what do you mean by "underrated"? I've heard jokes about the "dung eater" related to my character's name in FFXIV coming from everyone and their mom while never played it myself. There's no way a game hyped that much is underrated.
Righteous tarnished. We will have our victory.
Love that reaction to Portable 2G/Freedom Unite. Nostalgia overload.
Battle Network brother is cool as well
more game videos pls takashi! i learned about games i'd never heard of and now am excited to play

Love the new intro!
Really cool to hear what people like to play over there!
Great video! It must be so nice to live in Japan, With a lot of options for gamers!!!
This was cool :) The mix of games was very diverse. Surprised there was no Metaphor Refantazio mentions though
The cosplayers in this video did such a great job with their costumes!
more of these!! its fun hearing what people play and why.... you should also ask them what platform they play on, I hear PC gaming is starting to finally get bigger in japan
Initial D mentioned!!!!
Those cosplay were incredible, oh my gosh
Also, also! I love how much everyone was willing to give a little peek into the things that they love~
I personally like Splatoon, but also, I've got mad respect for some of those deep pulls from the interviewees
I❤luv this.... Awesome and interesting subjects as always. 😂

"Is there any game you do know" Takashii: "Uh....." Lol
my favorite part of the video! so funny

Oh wow Monster Strike! I used to play that with my little cousin years ago. I was so sad when they discontinued the english version
YESSS PLEASE MORE VIDEO ABOUT GAMES !!!
loved seeing wangan midnight getting a mention
also initial d arcade
It's always so cool seeing how popular Splatoon is, I feel like it never took off in the US but I was always curious
Great video, lots of interesting and varied choices here, but I was surprised that no one mentioned a single horror game. I still think Japanese game developers are the best, cheers from Brasil 💖 Also, NieR Automata is indeed very heartbreaking, been thinking about replaying it
Did you play Replicant too? It's as good as Automata and also heartbreaking :(
@KingDarkness100 I've seen an in depth video about it after I finished Automata. I only remember thinking the lore was confusing, but I may play it eventually. I also don't remember the details from Automata by now, but I remember it really broke my heart and stepped on it afterwards lol
That Raid ad plant was smooth. Well done
I heard that Gundam game with 2v2 was getting shut down last year! What happened? It's still up? People loved it that much huh?
I'm also very surprised no one said anything about retro games as all my JP friends/vtubers is all they ever play the past 3 to 4 years I've known them. I was so sure all these people in this video would have said either retro games or genshin and I wasn't gonna be surprised.
Also I want to give the man who said Star Fox Assault a high five. That game was the **** back in the day! My god the multiplayer was CRAZY!
You might be confusing it with Gundam Evolution which did get shut down a year ago. The Gundam Extreme VS series has a long history in Japan and is still very popular and alive, I visited a Tokyo few weeks ago and saw a bunch of the machines at the arcades and some people playing
Also cool name, I love Mushi!
NIKKE Mentioned 💪💪💪
