He's likely stating that Dragon Ball, showing the progression of Goku's child and teenage life (before finding out he was a Saiyan), and both Frieza and Nappa were non-existent in that show, is overrated because of how childish it can be (I haven't watched the video yet, this is my assumption), which I agree with but certain parts of it can also be mature (just like SpongeBob and many other cartoons that are "made for children") which I like. Well you have to consider their perspective: are they getting the definitions confused or is this based off the people they see/interact with overrating the anime? I’m pretty sure it’s the latter over the former.

I think overrated means people speak highly of it but you find it meh which usually equates to indifference or dislike. For example, the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once. It won so many Oscars but lots of people including a bunch of Japanese people find it meh. My brother even said to me after watching it on Netflix recently that it was 🗑.
Underrated means you think it's so good but it doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. For me for example I think Takahashi Rumiko's Urusei Yatsura is her best work but it's not as well-known as Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. Probably because it doesn't involve fighting like shounen manga. But to me the characters and gags are so creative and memorable.
Someone mentioned Natsume Yuujinchou being underrated and I completely agree. It is one of my favourites. I'm reading the manga while waiting for s7 lol
I watched Erased, Tokyo Revengers, and Bartender this last month, which are not my usual style of anime, and I was FLOORED at how amazing they were. I just wanted to suggest them to people who haven't watched them for some reason. Just fantastic storytelling... 10/10

Not an underrated anime or anything, but Kaze Ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (or Run with the Wind if you prefer) is such a hidden gem! I know it's short and based on a novel, but the level of humanity in the characters, the realistic approach to their struggles and how the story keep transitioning from a sports anime to a slice of life (and vice-versa), all of that with the music score by Yuki Hayashi just made this anime one of my favorites. No wonder why I am running a marathon next month.
And I say this as someone who is up to date with the manga because I adored love is war by the same author, but really oshi no ko just has some weird af incest parts which are a huge stain on the story
I love that there are so many people that have totally opposite opinions on so many anime and it was a good edit to have someone call something underrated or their favorite only to have the next person say it's overrated. Blue Lock being named as underrated is so real (ok it isn't THAT nugu, but only in comparison to other sports anime like Haikyuu, Kurokou and Slam Dunk). I like how that one guy mentioned it focuses on personal growth much more when other sports anime focuses a lot on friendships and teamwork. In particular, the perspective of Greed and selfishness was very nuanced.
Hibike! Euphonium mentioned! Love that show with every fibre of my being. Revue Starlight is very underrated too! If you like Hibike you will probably appreciate Revue Starlight

Thank you for your interviews! I personally love Gintama and i think its overlooked by a lot of people. So if you like comedy give this show a try. Its considered the best in its genre. As the show goes on the jokes and overall comedy gets better and better as well as action and main story progresses.

I think you should interview an older audience that watched the older anime of the 80’s and 90’s. Love to see that interview. The ones you are doing now are very repetitive. I really think you need newer content than just overrated/underrated Anime or anime that they like or dislike. Maybe talk about cars, Toys, Video games, game console. Both new and vintage also. Interviewing not just the younger audience, but also in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s that grew up with older anime, cars, toys, and video games. Would love to see their input of the 80’s and 90’s.

I kinda understand this... so you had over 20 years now to watch one piece... and it get better and better every ark. forshadowing from 10 years ago finaly gets revealed and all that easy and enjoyable to follow. Otherside AOT very dark alot of complicated plot lines... and I felt nothing when the last seaon came out.... When the last one piece ark is done oh boy....I will watch that over and over again.
An underrated anime that I wish was licensed in the US is Major. For some reason the sequel series is (Major 2nd), but the original series and OVA aren't. There's lots of baseball anime out there, but Major is by far the best. I love how it focuses on a single character's journey from Little League all the way up to achieving his dream of becoming a player in the Major Leagues. I also like that the main character isn't always successful and has realistic setbacks such as injuries, and eligibility when he gets to the high school level of baseball.
It was cool to see someone mention Sora no Ootoshimono. It's a silly ecchi comedy/battle manga, but it has some truly great gags and the story was unexpectedly touching at times. Also I love how the one complaint about One Piece is that it's too long with no other complaints.

I understand the 9:00 girl. I own some Sora no otoshimono mangas and even an Ikarus action figure. It's definitely an underrated anime/manga plus it's very funny.
I do love them but not the best in the field, we're in for the storyline which was failed by the series but the anime has one of the greatest Fanservice ever(Not too much just at the perfect amount).

Have people forgotten Samurai Champloo? The intro song might be my favorite all time anime intro song and a must have on random playlists along with some other chill Nujabe mixed beats. It's a great story about two master swordsman who reluctantly agree to play body guard for a young woman that's looking for a missing person. The fight scenes are top notch interjected with vinyl record scratching and fun facts from the Edo Era of Japan. It has character growth, tons of comedy, break dance fighting, and possibly the best all around vibing anime soundtrack that I've ever heard. It ties itself up very nicely and you can't help but be emotionally invested in Mugen, Jin, and Fuu. Lots of mature themes but nothing a teenager can't handle. If you haven't even heard of it then it's because it's been forgotten in shuffle of near infiinite mediocre content that is everywhere. So yeah...that's my all time fave. Underrated anime might be Netflix's "Dorohedoro"? Totally bizarre but despite it's dark magic theme has cute relationships and an obvious love for dumplings and psychedelic colors. Really cool fight scenes, strange masks, weirdly embraces the macabre, and a cool intro song. Not for kids but it's so over the top that it doesn't take it's own violence seriously. Kind of impossible to accurately describe but it's wonderfully weird. Would LOVE a live action because it would be so nuts to see in that format. I still haven't seen "Chainsaw Man" but animated gifs that I see here and there have some really epic animation. One Piece is amusing but moves so slow I'm surprised more people didn't give it an overrated rating but I've only see a few episodes. I was shocked to enjoy the Netflix live action but they really honored the source material in a way that impressed me. Would love to get sucked into a new anime or old one that I wasn't aware of...

I know it's short and based on a novel, but the level of humanity in the characters, the realistic approach to their struggles and how the story keep transitioning from a sports anime to a slice of life (and vice-versa), all of that with the music score by Yuki Hayashi just made this anime one of my favorites.
No wonder why I am running a marathon next month.

Blue Lock being named as underrated is so real (ok it isn't THAT nugu, but only in comparison to other sports anime like Haikyuu, Kurokou and Slam Dunk). I like how that one guy mentioned it focuses on personal growth much more when other sports anime focuses a lot on friendships and teamwork. In particular, the perspective of Greed and selfishness was very nuanced.

I personally love Gintama and i think its overlooked by a lot of people. So if you like comedy give this show a try. Its considered the best in its genre. As the show goes on the jokes and overall comedy gets better and better as well as action and main story progresses.

Demon slayer is not famous for it's story but instead the animation quality and fight scene choreography is just top notch.

I think you should interview an older audience that watched the older anime of the 80’s and 90’s. Love to see that interview. The ones you are doing now are very repetitive. I really think you need newer content than just overrated/underrated Anime or anime that they like or dislike. Maybe talk about cars, Toys, Video games, game console. Both new and vintage also. Interviewing not just the younger audience, but also in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s that grew up with older anime, cars, toys, and video games. Would love to see their input of the 80’s and 90’s.
The 90s and early 2000s were (imo) a golden age for anime.

Otherside AOT very dark alot of complicated plot lines... and I felt nothing when the last seaon came out.... When the last one piece ark is done oh boy....I will watch that over and over again.
An underrated anime that I wish was licensed in the US is Major. For some reason the sequel series is (Major 2nd), but the original series and OVA aren't. There's lots of baseball anime out there, but Major is by far the best. I love how it focuses on a single character's journey from Little League all the way up to achieving his dream of becoming a player in the Major Leagues. I also like that the main character isn't always successful and has realistic setbacks such as injuries, and eligibility when he gets to the high school level of baseball.
It was cool to see someone mention Sora no Ootoshimono. It's a silly ecchi comedy/battle manga, but it has some truly great gags and the story was unexpectedly touching at times.
Also I love how the one complaint about One Piece is that it's too long with no other complaints.

Fairy tale is kinda boring though i watched 100+ episodes....it's similar to 1 pc but 1pc is exciting and enjoyable to watch...i love 1pc btw, my no.2 fav anime...demon slayer is always my no.1

I really enjoyed it at first but at one point, it felt like the writers were forcing events with poorly written reasons.
Have people forgotten Samurai Champloo? The intro song might be my favorite all time anime intro song and a must have on random playlists along with some other chill Nujabe mixed beats. It's a great story about two master swordsman who reluctantly agree to play body guard for a young woman that's looking for a missing person. The fight scenes are top notch interjected with vinyl record scratching and fun facts from the Edo Era of Japan. It has character growth, tons of comedy, break dance fighting, and possibly the best all around vibing anime soundtrack that I've ever heard. It ties itself up very nicely and you can't help but be emotionally invested in Mugen, Jin, and Fuu. Lots of mature themes but nothing a teenager can't handle. If you haven't even heard of it then it's because it's been forgotten in shuffle of near infiinite mediocre content that is everywhere. So yeah...that's my all time fave.
Underrated anime might be Netflix's "Dorohedoro"? Totally bizarre but despite it's dark magic theme has cute relationships and an obvious love for dumplings and psychedelic colors. Really cool fight scenes, strange masks, weirdly embraces the macabre, and a cool intro song. Not for kids but it's so over the top that it doesn't take it's own violence seriously. Kind of impossible to accurately describe but it's wonderfully weird. Would LOVE a live action because it would be so nuts to see in that format.
I still haven't seen "Chainsaw Man" but animated gifs that I see here and there have some really epic animation. One Piece is amusing but moves so slow I'm surprised more people didn't give it an overrated rating but I've only see a few episodes. I was shocked to enjoy the Netflix live action but they really honored the source material in a way that impressed me. Would love to get sucked into a new anime or old one that I wasn't aware of...
