I play my pallets over some weed blocker and I was concerned that the plants wouldn't be able to get through. They won't. The only be able to get as deep as the pallet. I was suspicious of that

I duno. May as well take some of the top planks off, use those for the sides and put the cloth over the top. Then you can have only the holes exposed and you can water over the top of the whole thing without disturbing the dirt.
Dinora Arias I was thinking e same thing. I think he didn't have to because he's gardening on concrete patio blocks. I'm going to try out a pallet garden this year! But I think I'll cover the whole bottom because I'm putting the pallets on soil.
Angelina g I just thought the soil would "spill out" if you decide to move the pallet lol... But yes I'm also putting it on dirt... Let me know how yours goes. Good luck!
Ohhh haha yeah. I was thinking about weeds getting through. I'd have put fabric down even if it was on concrete because like you said I might want to move it around!

make sure they're Heat treated and not chemicaly treated pallets (should say HT stamped somewhere)
