This episode attempts to answer the question… “Are airlines putting dangerous planes into the sky?” Recently, a Boeing 737 Max 9 had a door plug blow out at 16,000 feet, creating a gaping hole that sucked out, among other things…the shirt off the back of a startled teenager. Really, no Really!
That incident (along with a few others) reminded us of that Netflix documentary exposing the egregious decline of Boeing, a once great American manufacturer. 2023 was considered a travel nightmare for many and 2024 looks to be no better with shortages of air traffic controllers, pilots, and planes.
To enlighten us about the current state of air travel, Jason and Peter invited CNN’s, always entertaining - aviation expert and correspondent- Richard Quest. Richard has interviewed every major airline executive and covered the crashes of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, and the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
IN THIS EPISODE:
Aviation’s surprising “Do Not Pair” list!
Safest seat on the aircraft is…?
Richard breaks down why Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 & Lion Air Flight 610 went down and what’s changed.
Why airlines outsource critical maintenance overseas.
What happens when a plane depressurizes at 35,000 ft?
Are pilots being pushed to the breaking point?
True/False: Water and ice on an airplane are safe to drink?
Is it possible to be sucked out a broken window?
“Sully” Sullenberger’s genius!
Jason’s favorite Seinfeld plane episode.

You people should get Michael Richards on your podcast. That would be great
Love that
Honestly love a podcast that briefly mistakes the 737 for the 747 and calls Boeing and McDonnell Douglas 'airlines'.
"..well, you don't know Matilda like I do but, okay.."🤣
That was fantastic - thank you!
I was acquainted with a flight attendant from a major airlines in the late 90s. She told me there was a culture of intimidation among the crew. If a pilot came on board smelling of alcohol they dared not report it. That airlines has been in the news recently with safety problems. Makes you wonder what slips through the cracks. That being said, I’m sure the majority of pilots across the board are true professionals and take their job and the safety of passengers very seriously.
Richard Quest is great - thank you very much!👍
Really! Fascinating, love your channel…
Jason Alexander has such a beautiful smile
Regulators should pass a bill requiring airlines to offer a warm blanket and shirts for kids when flying in a B 737 max just in case !!!
Your theme music makes me think of some of the TNT hosting shows from the 90s.
Not just applauded it’s REQUIRED knowledge from each 737 Pilot from memory and has been since the 1960’s. Every 737 Pilot knows it.
Finally Richard injects brains into the conversation
I think Boeing, I hear "Boing!!"
The cost of writing manuals in different languages is unreal. Terms and translations make it difficult in different languages.
I heard writing instructions on how to do anything even in your own language is pretty difficult.
It's worth the cost.
Figure out how to get it done and be cost competitive.
And get it all on PAPER, please. We need an accurate record...
Love your podcast! You all really have something cool here!
Absolutely!
6&a half minutes in... Boeing is based in Kansas...... Food for thought
I loved this guy in Austin Powers
English is the established common language among everyone in the flight ecosphere.
1:15 Jason can't comprehend how funny he thinks he is, even as he says it, even though it's not funny at all~
Damn CNN expert. But I'll try to watch.
After listening to this "expert", I'll never fly again. All the boxes have checked.
Free flight fare if you agree to sit next to the emergency exit.😅
I'll be happy to take that seat if I can fly in peace.
Well I know for a fact some aircraft come back from MRO’s with defects they shouldn’t….fact
Not quite correct, the runway stabilizer checklist is a MEMORY ITEM, it must be done from MEMORY.
It is ALL on a checklist. The Aviation industry is respected world-wide for their scrupulous adherence to checklists. They're almost Buddhist about it.
Yes and this one is called a “memory item” it must be done from memory first then later the check list is read to confirm all steps were done correctly.
Memorization is to be applauded but a list of words on paper is more reliable.
Answer to your question……NO
