Repurposing Two Pieces To Create a Cooler One, Blending & Textures

I'm taking two vintage mismatched pieces, putting them together to create a really cool piece of home decor. I'm beginning with some blending & texture. My goal is to create a piece that can be used either as a bench or coffee table.
