    It is interesting to see people that we have admired showing their vulnerable side. They are just as star struck as we are when they share the stage with their idols. (Though I doubt I will ever have an opportunity to share the stage with a VIP). Though I have made a fool of myself when I had a conversation with a local NC celebrity once. The only thing missing was a shovel to dig a hole-tile floors make that difficult.

    I will go out on a limb and say that by Alice saying Adam did it like Freddie, Alice may have meant that the music was recognizable and in the spirit of Freddie, sung and conveyed to the audience the way that Freddie would have done it - with style and flamboyance, etc; not necessarily an exact imitation (vocal or otherwise). This was his way of differentiating Adam's interpretation from Paul's. I look at what Alice said as positive for Adam - that Adam was closer to the true spirit of Freddie and Queen. But that's just me :)

  • @pinkmilkywaymilk7234
    @pinkmilkywaymilk7234 9 лет назад +14

    What they thought about Adam is inaccurate (38:00). Adam did not do it like Freddie did, in fact, IMO, he 'interpreted' it better than what PR could. What Adam does is far more complicated, and his delivery of the intentions of the songs are on point! He breathed life and theatrics back into the songs (Dragon Attack at Hammersmith, Killer Queen during the Q+AL tours etc), and he could hit every note on The Show Must Go On and Who Wants To Live Forever. I think Brian and Roger found the perfect piece of puzzle with Adam. I have seen both PR and AD with Queen. PR didn't feel right, in many ways whereas Adam fits Queen like a velvet glove. He's an interpretive genius!

    • @turboplazz
      @turboplazz 8 лет назад +5

      I went to listen to Dragon Attack and Killer queen sung by Adam Lambert. ....I want to say first of all that he is a good singer. However, Adams delivery is feminine. Fredie Mercury was a very masculine singer regardless of anything else. He was raw and had a bit of that "metal" feel of rage and anger. Lambert appears to be a prancer. To a masculine man that is something that doesn't connect. His moves made me cringe in all honesty. Overall, he puts in a decent effort but his stage persona does not connect with me at all. ...Again not hating..just one mans opinion. Take it for what its worth.

      personally I found the televised Queen/Adam show a massive turn off ( literally ) . I didn't particularly like Paul fronting them either. the only vocalist who has done them justice was George Michael. His version of " somebody to love " was as good as the original.

    Enjoyed this conversation between two great performers. But might mention, while PR is a superb singer, he wasn't the best fit for Queen. Saw the show with Lambert and he synced perfectly with B&R and Queen's music. Another thing - Lambert, while paying respect to FM, definitely was his own man on stage - saw no evidence of any imitating or copying - a unique performer in his own right -

    Interesting divergence of opinion on the relative merits of Paul Rogers or Adam Lambert as a front man for Queen. Obviously some Queen diehards on this thread here preferred Lambert. I'm not one of them. In my opinion Lambert couldn't hold a candle to PR as a vocalist, the power, the range, or the stage presence. PR is a rock legend. Lambert obviously has talent, but his performance comes across as much more 'manufactured' in comparison to PR. Maybe that is an unfortunate by-product of these woefully synthetic talent shows, like 'American Idol', that somehow pass for 'live' entertainment these days. I can understand some Queen fans thinking Lambert was a better interpretative fit for Queen, but as a front man/vocalist he's honestly not in the same ball park as either PR or Freddie.

Alice said he randomly thought of his name and in the newer version he said him and his band mates asked what his name was in a past life. 2. I like Alice and all, very charismatic and funny and a legend. As it happens I"m a meat eater myself but it's pretty hypocritical of him to agree with Paul about not hurting animals when he said himself elsewhere that he got his snake live white mice cos the snake wouldn't eat dead ones. I hate these fucking hypocrits who go on about animal cruelty so long as the animal being mistreated in question is cute, domesticated or a typical pet. If it's a mouse it doesn't matter. It is so hypocritical. And before anyone says '''you're a meat eater yourself and you criticize Alice for hypocrisy!''. But I'm not going on about cruelty to animals like I'm a kind considerate animal welfare hero and then hurting them.

    • @sasha07775
      @sasha07775 6 лет назад +3

      Mice, reptiles, insects, etc are some of what snakes eat in the wild so it's not really cruel. Is it cruel when a lion kills another animal for food?

    • @padraiglyons3709
      @padraiglyons3709 6 лет назад +1

      I don't agree slynnc kitty. Not 'really' cruel? Nature is really cruel but that's nature and there's nothing we can do about it. However, engineering cruelty is another thing as of buying mice specifically for the purpose of feeding a pet and then saying don't be cruel to animals ie 'other' animals so long as those other animals don't include mice which will feed my snake!

    • @sasha07775
      @sasha07775 6 лет назад +2

      Whether that snake is in the wild or captive, he will want to eat the same thing. Would you like the owner to starve him or give hime veggies that he will never eat? Even dinosaurs were divided into carnivores and herbivores. I guess perhaps Mother Nature is the cruel one. I love animals. I volunteer at a no kill humane society and I foster kittens. A few years back I rescued a praying mantis. Kept him in a fish tank and fed him crickets. That's what they eat. Not my choice, his.

    • @padraiglyons3709
      @padraiglyons3709 6 лет назад

      We are just going to repeat ourselves here. As I've said, purposefully feeding animals to animals is cruel and hypocritical of Alice. I consider that a fact whatever reason or excuse you give slynnc kitty. We'll simply have to agree to disagree. Not being sarcastic with this but happy Xmas to you.

    • @sasha07775
      @sasha07775 6 лет назад +1
