  • Edit: Zepound requires an obesity code on the prescription, not diabetes code. Sorry for the misstatement.
The fifth and final (but probably not) video in our Zepbound and GLP-1 medication series is finally here! Sorry it took so long to get out.
In this video we talk about the costs of GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. Saxenda is off the radar now and won't be formally discussed.
These medications are not cheap, but that's because they're incredibly effective. There are discount programs available to save money on them, but only if you have private insurance. Government-sponsored plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and Tricare are not eligible for the manufacturer discount card. This is due to balanced billing, explained in the video.
Whether you are looking for Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, or Zepbound, you will likely pay a significant amount of money for the dose, unless you have excellent insurance coverage.
The good news is, there are ways to save money. Splitting doses, using compounded versions, extending dosing interval are a few options. Ordering from Canada is a thought but that's generally not cheaper than obtaining the medication with a discount card here in America.
Whatever you do, make sure you are obtaining a safe version of the medication and handling it appropriately.
