I like how this arcade is like a museum, a relic of the past frozen in time. That’s a bad thing to some, a good thing to others. Love it or loathe it, these arcades are few and far between, they’re like gold dust. Only real complaint i have about this particular arcade is the lack of maintenance, whilst being a bit rough round the edges definitely adds to the character of the place, it definitely deserves a bit more TLC than it currently gets. A deep clean every now and again wouldn’t hurt. And the opening times aren’t the greatest compared to other nearby arcades. Overall tho it’s a nice enough place that I like to pay a visit to whenever I’m down north wales.
I can still smell the rubber face mask of the boat bombing machine from 55 years ago at The Black Cat.
Used to save all my old pennies for our weeks holiday at Winkups Camp and divide the cash Into days so it would last the week… if never did! 😂
Love your videos appreciate seeing all these places from the other side of the world in Australia. Thanks for your uploads.
You're welcome! What's the scene like out there? Are seaside arcades a thing?
@@s34nvideos it was great in the nineties like most places, died right off after the millennium but we’re starting to see a rise in arcades like arcade club. Not to that scale, but boutique retro arcades opened by games lovers for games lovers. We don’t really have a big arcade on the beachfront culture like the UK does, and the more mainstream arcades (eg attached to cinemas) are majority filled with ticket machines. Not exclusively tickets, but the majority. Thanks again for your fantastic channel.
That's interesting to hear! Thanks for the info! I had a 10 year stint in America, and it sounds similar over there too. A lot of the beach-side arcades closed in favour of restaurants and the-like! Even Coney Island in New York looked a bit sad when I visited a few years back and that place was bustling decades ago, up until maybe the late 90s.
I'm not sure why ours have hung on, I think its a few things:
- The brits are big on tradition. People will go to the same places in the summer over and over again
- Seaside arcades make a good whack on the gamblers. The same folks pump their salaries (or government aide money) into the fruities and keep them afloat.
- Introduction of way more redemption-based games
- I swear some are a front for something sinister haha
or a combination of the 4. It's great they are making a comeback again over there! I would love to visit one day! Maybe soon!
Thanks for watching!

Used to play Space Invaders, Galaxians, Astroids and Phoenix in there in the late 70s early 80s seemed so much bigger to me then.😁
That's great! I bet they still have some of those cabs too! This place is a museum!
Remember this place as a kid it had some great coin ops like a Sit down OutRun Hydraulic cab 😎👍
@@TheKayliedGamerChannel-RUclips They have a great selection of rarer games! It's like a mini time warp
I played on that sit on out run a lot in the late 80' s early 90's they also had a sit on super hang on 😊 then we'd head off in to Rhyl. Great time's.
Remember lucky strike next door too 😊
Used to go there in the late eighties when I was about ten, it was a museum even then.
They had a Spy Hunter ('83) sit in at the front to tempt you in and 'Fire Truck' from 1978. There was a Sega Turbo sit in ('81) and Gorf ('81) towards the back.
They had a bunch of mechanical one-arm bandits and even a few of those 1960's dioramas that you could shove an old 5p coin in and see 'the haunted house' or some dude being executed.
There were also loads of 1970's fruit machines, the ones with the wooden cabinets and big round buttons. I think Wonder Boy from 1986 was the newest thing I ever saw in there.
It would have made an awesome museum today.
Some nice Classic Old 2p Pushers in there shame put rubbish prizes on bed like sweets that put me of playing them.
Euromix blasting through the place and bowlingo in the corner. Reminds me of how 90% of UK arcades used to be
those were the days!!
3:19 Dancing Stage EuroMIX, Again!
Looking good retro.
Back in the 70s there used to be a small fair ground ride in there
wow! How long has this place been open!? 😆😲
@@s34nvideos it was there when I was a youngster back in the early 70s I turn 56 this year
When I think of UK, these are the kinds of arcades I think of. Time capsules ftw. That OR2 machine needs a basic tuning to get its colours back to normal. The F&F screens need some love too but both machines are easy to fix. Sick to see Sega Rally 1&3
The change counter has 3 old men inside, probably in their 60s or 70s. The arcade seemed to reflect thay. Lately, that seems to be a good thing (when comparing to some modern arcades haha!)
@@s34nvideos that's just adorable to hear haha bless them
Nice old skool arcade
Anyone remember lucky strike next door 😊👍
Nice machines. Shame about the maintenance.
Never open when we go down
This is a nice arcade, do you think its worth the 500 mile round trip from county durham?
I'm the wrong person to ask haha! I've done 2000 miles for one 😆☃️🎄
