I live only an hour from Ashville in NC. This is definitely on my bucket list!! Thanks for sharing!🙏👍😊
Excellent! It’s a great trail!
Another nice video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Thanks, Rick! Happy Trails! 😄
Wow Audrey love this video. I’ve heard of the trail and as the AT is out for me as a thru hike right now this looks amazing. I also love the wild flowers and little critters. Love when your videos pop up. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thank you! :) This will definitely give a little taste of what the southern AT is like! Have you considered a Foothills Trail thru-hike? That's another great short option, and I absolutely loved that trail!
@@AudreyAdventures Yes I’ve heard of that trail and would love to do it but the AT is my dream and in my heart. Hopefully one day when commitments aren’t as many and I can afford to attempt. In the mean time section hikes and backpacking and trail magic to the class of 2023.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
@@susietopspin Love that!! Oh and I just meant while you're waiting to do the AT, not instead of course. :)
Thank you for taking me back to that wonderful time in my life-with just a few bucks in my pocket and a flimsy hiking kit - I would explore the lush green mountains of Appalachia in the early 00s. I vividly remember the afternoon thunderstorm that drenched the mountain laurels and rhododendrons as I hiked the Smoky Mountains. And let's not forget that time I tried to climb Mt. Washington in the winter and had to emergency camp in a three-walled hut. Harvard School hut, I believe. Thank you for the motivation! By the way, I love the retro flip-phone quality footage in this video.
Haha usually I would cut the low quality stuff out, but I was having filming issues so had to use whatever I could. 😂 Sounds like you had some great adventures! Getting caught in a storm on Mt. Washington in winter is my nightmare haha - glad you lived to tell the tale!
As always such a beautiful and relaxing presentation! Your narration is always so beautiful and simply enjoyable!
Thank you so much! :)
This looks very intriguing. I was looking at the foothillls trail, but think this would be a good pre-hike to that. It would be nice to shake out my gear. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I appreciate your insight.
You’re welcome! The Foothills Trail is amazing. This one is shorter but harder. It would definitely be a good shakedown hike for that.
Where was night two camp site?
Seems like they put a new shelter up along the trail
I hiked southbound also last summer camped nite one on black balsam knob and nite two in the second shelter
That was Butter Gap shelter.
Cool
following your jmt hike now
Thanks for sharing video nice trail and definitely on my bucket list
I will be doing at 2024 hopefully with a February start
Did you do it in two days?
About 48 hours, but over three days. We started around noon on a Thursday and finished around noon on a Saturday.
