Bon jovi is in the rock and roll hall of fame and the Cramps aren't....is a travesty of justice if there ever was one. The Cramps are one of the definitions of rock and roll.

Pittsburgh, 1991, I think, definitely at Graffiti. Front row up against the center of the impossibly low stage there. Lux right in front of me, literally 3 inches away, wearing only lady’s panties and red glitter pumps, sweat pouring like rain from his practically naked body onto me.
It was soooo loud. I remember trying to tell my friend something. I had both hands cupped around my mouth and over his ear, screaming as loud as I could. Not only could he not hear me, but I couldn’t hear me. The only reason I knew I had to be loud was my throat was killing me afterward.
We will never get shows like these again. Everything is Disneyfied now and oh so freaking safe. These concerts were fun because you just knew that any moment it could all come off the rails and sweep you with it. But you didn’t care because…well you’re watching this video. Great footage thank you! I had the pleasure of seeing the Cramps in 91/92 in Brussels for the Look Mom No Head tour!
I wore a pirate flag bandana on my head. standing at the first row, Lux grabbed it from my head, put it on his and poses with a pensive look on his face. Then he threw it back in the crowd, but the guys in the audience kindly passed it on back to me. I do not think I ever washed it since then, still in my drawer, ha ha!
Then outside, spotted them on their tour bus. I was waving wildly, smiling like an idiot at a pointedly disdainful Poison Ivy. When the bus started, she aggressively put her tongue out at me for half a sec, I could not help laughing. what good memories, what a show, what a band! too bad I lost the tour poster I had on my bedroom wall for years. Top Rank Suite, Brighton, 1986, I'm 15, this band blew my mind live. Lux dressed as above, drinking wine from the bottle no hands, climbing everywhere, eventually he collapsed wasted. The best fun ever.

I had the good fortune to see The Cramps three times in the 1980s. Their live performance at the now-defunct Hammersmith Palis in early 1984, has to be the most demented set
I've ever witnessed. Lux Interior was the love child of Iggy Pop and Elvis circa 1956. He was a fabulous frontman. He is up there now with Elvis, Gene, etc having a great time. RIP
I saw this footage when it was first shown. How time has flown?

I saw them a few times on that tour in the UK in 1984. At the Hacienda and twice at the Palais. On one of the Palais dates, Lux landed next to me when he jumped into the audience during She Said. He would point the microphone to me and other audience members next to me so that we each got to shout "She Said" straight into the mic. I was about 17/18. I have a vague memory of Lux stripping down to nothing by the end at least on one of those Palais dates as well.

Great show. As far as I remember this show went out at teatime, unbelievable for the time it was let go. But like the Smiths performance on the Tube, this is one of those memorable iconic TV memories. The Cramps were just awesome, stripped down, sleazy rock n roll, I mean that guitar is just pure Buddy Holly. Fond memories of the Tube.

Yup 5pm on a Friday. I'm pretty sure it was the inspiration for TFI Friday that was on 6pm on a Friday and kind of the same thing with live bands etc in the 90's. Channel 4 was pretty great back then with a lot of 'daring' content.

Another mid-50s Cramps virgin here. I subscribe to Guitar World and several months back they had a variant cover and the one I got was with Poison Ivy on it. I read her interview and was fascinated by how she insisted on rejecting the Chuck Berry element that was prevalent in punk soloing styles and went hard into the rockabilly/surf aspects of the early rock era. I definitely see now what she meant. Love bands that can channel controlled raw-sloppy-dissonant-feedback yet somehow held together by a loose-tight rhythm section. Definitely see a lot of Iggy Pop in Lux's performance. A fun watch for sure. Thanks for posting this, Simon, an eye-opener for sure.
