    Bonus points - there's no backup keyhole to be picked. Simplex rocks.

      I've decided to stop shying away from showing the real thing. I've always been afraid of running afoul of RUclips. But I'm tired of tip-toeing around my own RUclips channel. There will be more changes.

    I will probably purchase this 'residential security box' (or the VS-35SX) to replace a ~23 year old "R & D Enterprises" rsb whose Simplex Lock mechanism finally wore out (after several thousand open / close cycles or more) and would not reliably open any longer.
    The R&D is similar to Fort Knox' "Personal Pistol Box" but larger by ~1/3 in all dimensional aspects and I would like to replace it w/the same size (VS-35SX) or larger (VS-50SX).
    Thanks for the review!

    Glad to see some new content! I'm looking for a simplex lock safe just like this, but some of the welds look questionable and the simplex lock housing doesn't look the most robust. I'd like to see an attack video investigating the integrity of the door/hinges and simplex lock housing. Thank you for your work!

    • @HandgunSafe
      @HandgunSafe  Год назад +2

      For a safe that costs around $330.00, this safe is plenty robust. The housing protecting the Simplex lock is perfectly capable of defeating a screwdriver-and-hammer attack. I'm not ruining the lock on this safe for an unnecessary demonstration. I'm using it for an ammo cabinet. If you're looking for a more robust, floor-standing safe, you're going to have to spend more than a few hundred bucks.

      @@wynstoman That's a really good safe. I don't know if they'e shipping those safes with any kind of liner, but if you want to dress it up with liner you can always find felt and other materials at places like the Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

    Trivia: Did you know Ballistol also sells alcohol beverage in Germany? It's shaped like the small 50ml glass bottle they use for the oil too.

      I can try writing to them to see if they would be willing to send a safe for a review. That's all I can do. I review donated safes. I'm not buying products anymore. I want to challenge companies to send products that have already been through R&D and testing.

    I’m going to be picking up this safe for storage of my non-daily carry firearms. I want a small bio safe to keep my daily carry in while I’m at home. Basically, for our sitting area when I’m home (otherwise the gun will be on me) for peace of mind with the kids. I don’t expect my kids to be trying to pry open my safe, but is there any other bio safe other than the S6000 that you recommend if it’s strictly for safety and not for keeping intruders out? I’d like something that opens a bit faster. Thanks for the time.

    • @HandgunSafe
      @HandgunSafe  Год назад

      Sorry, I haven't found any other biometric handgun safes that I'm comfortable recommending. If you buy the Stealth ShadowVault, you ought to be able to replace the entry pad with a biometric version of the pad. You might contact Stealth about that. I believe the locking system is by Securam, and I'm pretty sure you can order a replacement entry pad of your choice from the company directly.

      @@jeffschumacher452 Sorry, I took another look at the ShadowVault. Those safes are fitted with SG locks. You can go online to Sargent & Greenleaf and buy a replacement entry pad with biometrics. It's going to cost you, but you're paying for quality. So that would be my recommendation for a small, secure, quick access handgun safe.

    What would be your top 2 small safes and larger safes that you have approved? Thanks

    • @HandgunSafe
      @HandgunSafe  Год назад +2

      I don't really have top picks out of my recommendations list. I like them all for different reasons. For example, I use the larger of the two Rhino Metals safes I've recommended, and the Viking safe in the above video is now my designated ammo and cleaning-supplies cabinet.

    Hi there! How do you set up the panels inside the safe? I can't seem to do it with mine, and I already tried attaching the supplied metal pieces to the panels to no avail

    • @HandgunSafe

      I can't help you with it. I no longer own that particular safe. I gave it away and replaced it with another.
