I could tell from the first time you showed the red 3DS back that it wasn't installed and fitting correctly. Now we see what a terrible job they did refurbishing this with 3rd party parts. Especially gluing the back cover.
Not fake consoles, but most likely refurbished with cheap parts, especially those shells. Still saves them from a landfill where these consoles would've otherwise ended up.

I like the idea of them reusing the clear protective shell as the box it comes in. It's a waste of cardboard to throw it out just to use a different box.
my mom ordered me one of these, bless her heart, and honestly I was happy with the custom firmware and access to retro games. in fact, just because i could, i got doom and doom 2 on the thing. only issue is that the joystick on the 3ds was terrible like it was super sticky-ish and barely worked. i’ve been thinking about trying to replace it myself but idk if it’s worth it

honestly is very much worth it, sometimes the input errors are due to a hasty soldering job so with stuff that you know is refurbished is always worth to pick it apart and take a look inside if you feel something's not right
Eh, is super easy to add them now, decades ago when I sent my 2ds to mod years ago the guy just added the very first version of luma alongside bootstrap and left the rest to me to deal with across the years Using guides and reading community messages I learned how to upgrade the CFW to the latest and switching from bootstrap to godmod Once you make the first mod everything else is very easy to inject into the console, just drag and drop and install
Its seriously not worth the extra cost to buy a modded console. It takes like 15-20 minutes and can be done from a cell phone. Its so easy and basically risk free plus if its premodded and you dont know to make a nand backup when you get it you're in for an awful time if something really does go wrong
thought it was crazy they come modded, because Wish definitely didn't have to do that. now i'm thinking it's to make up for all the crappy craftmenship

It sucks how bad the replacement shells are for psp/ds/3ds/dslite when we have such nice ones for gameboy i hope as these devices become more retro we will get better replacements
I wouldn't assume the 3rd party casings have the issue, but the reason they came with the see-through case is because of OEM 3ds paint does not last, even sunlight over time will make the paint bubble and fall apart, it physically tears overtime (mainly what the hard case is for)

This is my biggest fear. I love 3ds and tbh my real ones are getting worn out. You can't find real ones easily and I dont want to buy crappy replacements and fake parts to replace. My rubber in my old models are worn and fell apart off the slider stick is fine just had to glue homemade ones on it
If you don't find luck in local areas, buy a Japanese 3DS on ebay and softmod it. The softmodding removes the region lock, and then you can do a locale switch to make it the proper region to restore backups. I got a new 3DS LL in great condition for around $130 with shipping.
about my free 3DS a couple of years ago when I got it it was brand new but over time part of it was physically falling apart lucky for me I fixed it with Gorilla Glue Gorilla Glue is a great material to fix it typically would do good job too if I can't buy a new shell I might as well repair it with a few extra dollars right? right

@@jrob0021 You can put the screens side by side. Or if you want, have only one display that can be switched, or have the top screen be big with the bottom screen be small in a corner. Depends on how you want to set it up for each game.
@@jrob0021 no. The lower screen is minimised as it usually does not actually do that much and in some games it can disappear altogether as it's redundant. Mario Kart 7 for instance just uses the lower screen as a race position guide. Don't need it. 3DS is excellent on the Deck.
I think that these 3ds have been built with defected pieces of legit 3ds manufacturers. 3Ds family system uses an old authentification system which is generally disable by defaut now for cause of unsecure method of connection on modern routers.
this 3DS are real, but the shell are fake, and i think the screen on the black 3DS also fake. still very expansive for used 3DS with bad shell, i think this 3DS were broken and they were fixed with bad shell and resold.
OK out of all games Mario party island tour. Yeah that game is cool, but you don’t see a lot of copies of the game. You should test download play with some of the games and see if the two devices connect up with each other before you sell them. Like if you agree.

They have no way of fabricating the motherboards 🙄 it's an official motherboard with a ton of aftermarket parts, probably from one that was previously destroyed and was in ewaste for recycling but still turned on. So they took the ewaste motherboard and used 3rd party parts to refurbish it.

Ah ok. I guess I just correlated cfw with taking longer since all the homebrewed consoles I’ve used had a ton of games downloaded and took forever to turn on.
With those consoles you should also try to download an update for a cartridge game. At 14:20 the OS version was visible and it had the E for europe at the end which would make it impossible to access the US eShop and download updates for US cartridge games. They only load because the modding removes the region lock. And even if the system says it's an US console, attempting to download an update can also expose if the region has been changed through mods, because also then the download will fail.
I remember a new official "New" 3DS costing around $129 USD when I was looking for one back then. (wound up buying a bundle from Costco because there was games I wanted to play on the DS-3DS. If I recall that bundle cost around the same as the handheld by itself.) So yea that's overpriced for what it actually is and is false advertising because it's fake/bad replica.

@@BRUH2004FTW new 3ds runs better, better frame rate. It also has a very cheap c stick to use as a second analog stick. It's not amazing, but the c stick beats nothing. I feel a huge difference in frame rate on a new 3ds xl compared to an original 3ds.

The thumb stick isn’t too difficult to replace on the 3ds, just need to have the correct screwdrivers and be patient when taking it apart

they arent knock offs at all they are just reshelled systems. this is what alot of companies do to refurbish systems with 3rd party parts.

Ah ok. I guess I just correlated cfw with taking longer since all the homebrewed consoles I’ve used had a ton of games downloaded and took forever to turn on.

Also may be a low speed SD card. If it came with the console, the Chinese seller probably grabbed the cheapest card he could find.
With those consoles you should also try to download an update for a cartridge game. At 14:20 the OS version was visible and it had the E for europe at the end which would make it impossible to access the US eShop and download updates for US cartridge games. They only load because the modding removes the region lock. And even if the system says it's an US console, attempting to download an update can also expose if the region has been changed through mods, because also then the download will fail.
I remember a new official "New" 3DS costing around $129 USD when I was looking for one back then. (wound up buying a bundle from Costco because there was games I wanted to play on the DS-3DS. If I recall that bundle cost around the same as the handheld by itself.)
So yea that's overpriced for what it actually is and is false advertising because it's fake/bad replica.
I mean this price is about the same as a normal used 3ds. A New 3DS XL goes for $225+, depending on color

@@BRUH2004FTW new 3ds runs better, better frame rate. It also has a very cheap c stick to use as a second analog stick. It's not amazing, but the c stick beats nothing. I feel a huge difference in frame rate on a new 3ds xl compared to an original 3ds.

I'm am from Spain, concretely from the Canary Islands I bought a 3ds in September from Facebook marketplace, never thought it would be a fake one at all but this video helped me discover it since the first console is exactly the same as mine 😭 Oh well, at least it works the same as a 3ds I guess
