  • I hiked across the virgin rainforest of Borneo... 🇲🇾
Sabah of Malaysian Borneo is home to various pockets of virgin/primary rainforest. But did you know that right in Sepilok you have a virgin rainforest that you can go hike in? The Kabili-Sepilok Rainforest Reserve is an incredible patch of protected rainforest and in this reserve, you will find the Kabili Trail. This trail supposedly 7 kilometers (actually 10,5 kilometers) one way leads from the Rainforest Discovery Center in Sepilok straight through the rainforest to the Laut Reception in the mangroves. And apparently no tourist comes here... So is this trek actually worth it?

It's so nice to see someone who is so excited about wildlife and everything they see. :-) Not many people have that. I'm not much of a wildlife enthusiast myself but I love the way you vlog.

Well if this comes from someone who isn't usually a wildlife enthusiast, it warms my heart you can enjoy the excitement I have. Thanks for watching! And I hope the videos will encourage a little bit of enthusiasm toward wildlife haha😜

Looks like such a beautiful hike! I really can't get over those insect noises in the forest - I don't think I've ever heard anything like that! Nature is unpredictable but I still think you saw some awesome stuff. I don't know why but I actually kinda like leeches in a strange sort of way 🤣

Idk whether they have done it or not, but one way of attracting foreign visitors there is by advertising for volunteers, merely provide them decent meals and accommodations, each session probably lasting between 2 weeks to 2 months?

My advice to you and others going into a tropical jungle like in malaysia, with regards to defending yourselves against yucky leech invasion of your body especially yummy legs, is to smear or rub some butter onto your legs from the ankles up to the calves and knees, because (1)makes your legs or rather the skins on your legs very slippery giving any leech an extremely very hard time to climb up to a nice spot to start burying its tiny fangs into, so instead of that bloodsucker already happily draining away your blood, it is draining away the bloodsucker's energy, and that tiny ridiculous creator actually does not have that much energy to begin with. And (2)that will serve to train the species on a new diet regime, and hopefully as more and more people apply butter on their legs and more and more leeches are exposed to the butter, then they'd turn from being scary bloodsuckers to cute wriggly cuddly creatures craving for butter!

Regarding people who believe that someone is watching them in the forest, I expect that they have seen or sensed members of the jinn who live in the forests. The jinn are concentrated in isolated areas that are not inhabited by humans in general, such as forests and mountains, and also in areas inhabited by humans, but to a lesser extent.
