jesus christ finally i've been trying to figure out how and when i get the weapon skill and everyone just kept saying go to the wiki, the wiki literally has not been updated that fast for this information. you're a life saver

First thing i do when i do story mode. I look up the achievements.
So i only have to go into the story instance 1 time.
Saw how to get it. Easy no brainer 😉
Always just do story asap and u get everything.
After 1.5 hours of gameplay i got all the achievements for the story 😀

I was a bit confused when I logged in yesterday why I couldn't use the new weapons. I quickly found out about the achievement and was very happy that I had enough WvW currency to buy the items right away. Just a few klicks and I had it. Why they felt the need to hide the new weapons behind an, albeit easy, achievement is beyond me. Just let people play with them from the get-go. They could have at least given you a heads up somewhere like "you wanna use the new weapons? Get that achievement first."
If I were to speculate: especs unlocked access to their weaponry by a proficiency in the specialization tree. Base SotO unlocked access to espec proficiencies with achievement, and new proficiencies again are per achievement. To be it kinda sounds like a limitation of a code used to grant classes new weapons with especs in the first place. Maybe the unlock system could be easier to expand to "has espec or achievement" than "has espec or that specific expac bought". And new weapons just got hooked up to that expansion of that system.

Great guide as usual Muk, 1 addition is that you have to have played Chapter 6 of SOTO or you can't play Chapter 14 to get the unlock permission.

It should be noted that this is simply an extension of the "Weapon Mastery" that was unlocked in SotO (allowing players to use weapons from specialties that weren't part of their build), so it is likely that SotO is required for it to work...
Can confirm. When I logged in earlier I looked up how to unlock the weapons cuz I couldn't find an in-game thing referring to it and went into WvW to buy the 5 things. Dude didn't have em. Decided to finally buy SotO and now he does.
Is it possible to delete the books that the task is completed? will you still need those books?
do the items only spawn in the world when you get up to that quest or are they hidden through out the map and then when you get to that quest it just points you in their direction?
Had trouble yesterday with starting the story.
Did first 4 chapters of SOTO story when it came out and never finished it.
Yesterday wanted to try new weapons, and you can't start new story if you haven't played Chapter 6. I start chapter 5 and when i am on the map, there is no green marker on map to continue the story, so was forced to spend tokens in WvW.
Don't know if someone else had this problem or am missing something.
Can you collect the items by going to the map outside of the story chapter.. Or not possible? If possible which map?

Hello Muk, I have a small question.
Do you know if having the expansion "SOTO" is requiered or can I do the WvW method on an account that does not have this expansion? I saw the currency was the "EoD" heroics so I assume you must have that expansion at least.
I have not been able to test that myself but I have been told by others that soto is required even with the wvw method.
The "weapon masteries" that allowed a player to use weapons from specialties that weren't used in their build was dependent on SotO, so it would make sense for this expansion of that to be also linked to it....
Confirming that you indeed NEED SotO to unlock the weapons in WvW at least.
@@_XR40_how do i get the weapon mastery? I trained the flying mastery, the mastery for using ley lines and stuff and one mastery of the new one for obsidian legy
@@gronkhfp I may have been a bit careless in my phraseology. It's not really a "mastery track" (like gradually increasing a mount's abilities or leveling up skills in a "Specialization"), but just a single thing you do called _Weaponmaster Training._ If I recall, somewhere in the 3rd "chapter" of SotO, you get a letter from an NPC called Frode. You talk to him in the first area of Skywatch Archipelago and after that it is unlocked for all characters on your account. The odds are that you've already done it without realizing it.
Can you mix and match between the two options?
I don't have enough calcified gasps to buy the fifth item in the Inner Nayos option.
I don't have enough Testimonies of Heroics to buy all five from the Heroics Notary.
So I'm wondering if it's possible to collect the first four for free in Nayos and then buy the fifth in WvW in order to complete the collection. Kind of important for me to find out if this is going to work rather than risk my short supply of either currency and come up empty.
I have not tested this but I would assume you could mix and match since each item is bought or picked up individually.

Lil frustrated - I waited to do any of the new expansion fully anticipating these weapons from day 1 (I did buy the expansion right away to support the game cause it's fun) - plan was to do a full playthrough on dual pistol guardian...
I am... annoyed. I will get over it.

I'd wager it's rather for SotO owners, but to be perfectly sure one would have to go to wvw with account that does not have SotO and see if notary vendor has dem artifacts.
EDIT: commenter just below have stated they did and the NPC did not have those artifacts available at all untill they bought SotO, so yeah, SotO owners only.
Are there new skins for these additional weapons, like the previous elite spec ones?
I did not find anything in achievements. There are achievements for having 1k kills with new proficiency weapon that gives a selection chest from a specific skins, but I am unaware if those are anyhow new, or just a black lion set.
