Postal 4 Review | I Regert Everything

- SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT: I realized while I was editing that a lot of the footage actually showed the game playing close to 60 FPS. Then I remembered at some point I changed something in the settings early in the game because of how poorly it was running. Anyways my point still stands that this game is really unoptimized, if you need further proof look anywhere on the Steam discussions, reviews, and hell even RUclips videos. It's generally agreed upon that Postal 4 is far from feeling like a full release.
I am aware that Postal 2 took about a decade to get it to the state that it is now, but in all honesty this is a really bad counter-argument. Firstly RWS is most likely a much different and probably a bigger company than how it was in the 2000s so they should've been at least somewhat capable of making Postal 4 semi-complete upon release. On top of that, why would they decide to repeat the prolonged development cycle of Postal 2? Again they're probably a much bigger company, I don't see the point of them wanting to go through this again. And even if they did, the decision to release the game so prematurely is mind-boggling.
I swear to bob, I feel like I'm going to have to re-review this like 3 years from now.
I played Postal 4 and omg what for a huge disaster. Funny how they shit on P3 but they made the same quality disaster
I know this video is literally a month old but it's great to see actual criticism of the game and not blind praise, this video is really good great job on it cant wait to see more from you :)
Thank you! Great timing too btw I literally have a review of Postal Brain Damaged coming out sometime tomorrow lol.
Regarding Postal 2 in the description, it's worth mentioning that the "support" that RWS gave it is mostly made up of adding fan content into the game. Many new weapons in Postal 2 Complete (that's the name of the Steam version, it was like this when it appeared on Steam in 2012 before being promptly changed for some reason) are from Eternal Damnation, before Steam there was already a mod called AW7 which basically combined Postal 2 and Apocalypse Weekend, and so on. And Postal 2 is indeed a janky game but it isn't broken like Postal 4, so this comparison doesn't exactly work.
I was not aware of this. Thank you, for bringing it up.
Edit: I should say that I was aware that Apocalypse Weekend was originally a separate expansion. But I had no idea that most of the weapons in 2 were ported in from Eternal Damnation or that Postal 2 had a lot more fan support throughout it's development cycle.
@@danhalencool postal 2 is the minecraft of shooters. they created a base game, people loved it but felt it could be better so made a bunch of mods, devs thought "thats a great idea" and either implemented the mods themselves or hired the mod developer to have them come add it in
Finally, somebody who doesn't praise POSTAL 4 as the best game of the Postal series
While I do love the POSTAL series, I don't think RWS didn't put as much effort into this
Your descriptiom explains it all and I agree
Postal 4 is a good game and a very fun game. But it's a very unfinished game. It should NOT have been released in this state. It also has some fundamental flaws like most of the errands being mediocre and not that good. The only good and memorable ones were Border Patrol on Tuesday, the Poop Clean Up on Wednesday, and Voting on Thursday. I also enjoyed the boss fights.
But the rest of the errands could have REALLY been better.
You ranked it above 3? I didn't even do that as 3 feels more complete.
I only "like" 4 a little more because it feels like it actually has a sense of direction. RWS simply wanted to recapture and expand upon Postal 2 and they did do that to a degree. Don't get me wrong I still think the game is miles away from ever feeling as complete as 2 but at the very least the game has the basics like an open world albeit a really empty one but y'know it's a start. On the other hand, I have no idea what Akella was trying to make with Postal 3. It's like a whole bunch of ideas, most of which don't work well with each other, clumped into one to make a really buggy and confusing mess. I'll give 3 some credit in that I knew exactly what I was going into before playing it, unlike 4 which left me feeling sad, disappointed, and a little frustrated.
@@danhalencool sorry for Being late, but check out behind the scenes and videos related to Postal 3
@@marko-gj1uj Yeah I've seen a few things about its development and how there were a whole bunch of scrapped ideas and concepts that could've shaped the game up to be something much better. As sad as it is, unfortunately I still don't think the game is all that good or fun but I give a whole lot of respect to people who give it a second chance.
@@danhalencool yup
The Skull-Dude… Returns!!!
i bought this game on week 1 of early access and it was 15 bucks i got my money's worth out of it.
$30 should have been the final price
Mall level performance is the worst. All those high detail props and empty store with no function npc.
So many issues with that place. First time I was there the theme songs for all different stores started glitching out and would keep playing even after I left. So it caused all the songs to play over each other, it made the entire mall mission one of the most unpleasant things I had to go through. Then once I was done I ran into some sort of bug that stopped me from leaving the mall, thankfully there is a teleport cheat but if that wasn't a thing I probably would've just called it quits at that point.
its funny how most of the ideas from 4 came from p3's design docs lol
And RWS still shits on P3 like it came out yesterday, unbelievable. I really don't like P3 but even I have to admit that the memes are getting very old.
@@danhalencoolyeah but tbh I don’t think p3 is like that bad of a game it can be very fun just mediocre
@@big7650 Still though if they're going to borrow ideas from it, don't you think it's a little unnecessary for them to keep making fun of it at this point? P3 now serves a bigger purpose to them than just being the "Postal game that never existed" . Idk perhaps I'm just making a mountain out of a mole hill here.
@@danhalencool yeah it is very unnecessary for them to be making fun of p3 so much, especially when they are literally making a patch for p3 and re releasing it on steam
Postal 4 has some good moments, but the bugs are killing me. I lose my trenchcoats once i switch outfits, the sign AND petition are stuck as my hand equipped so i cant finish the day.
Plus there are so many areas that have nothing going on. I mean its buggy enough without all the detail, but whats the point of exploring if every area after Wednesday has so little to find?
Ive beaten it once, and would like to beat it with the other 3 dudes, but every time i boot the game it behaves differently.
Now that some time has past and RWS has been ironing it out and adding new stuff, I actually love it. Honestly, in its current state, it’s almost on par with P2. But I do respect your opinion.
Yeah I might have to revisit this game sometime in the near future. I'd rather not do that but with how much RWS has been updating it, I feel like I have to.

Thank You for saving me money good sir. lol
r/Postal tried to talk me into buying this shit.
tbf I haven't played this since I've made this video so it could have gotten better but seeing as how it's been stuck on mixed steam reviews for as long as I can remember, you still might not be missing out on a whole lot. Plus I occasionally hear a good handful of people saying that it still runs poorly and that Postal 2 is just better.
@@danhalencool Nah, The recent steam reviews are still highly negitive I even checked the dates of the reviews.
@@TheFourthProdigy Yeah I see that, though the game is still marked as "mixed" for recent reviews.
Don't get sucked into the reddit hivemind ever.
@@jsunn315 That's another thing, when I'm thinking about buying a game it's subreddit is literally the last place I'd look into. Not saying like it's a bad thing but you're always going to get fans that are going to "overhype" it and make it seem better than it actually is.
What I do is I always filter through negative steam reviews. You'll get your fair share of people who complain about something stupid but there's always a good amount of people who will actually provide some good criticism. Reading through that stuff helps me expect something that is a little more reasonable.
just like red3d
Can't say I'm familiar with who that is.
