Hi beautiful souls! This vlog is so incredibly important to me to share with the world. I truly hope that everyone has the chance to watch this video in its entirety because it illustrates how the propaganda is negatively impacting this country and its people. The lies told about Jamaica is not only instilling fear into foreigners, but it is also instilling fear into to its own people. This is only leading to more poverty, more crime and more violence as a result. Being in Kingston for the last months and having spent some time Downtown, I am seeing with my own eyes how people are suffering and it weighs so heavily on my heart. Places like Trench Town and Downtown Kingston are so misunderstood because of the lies we are told and stories that are spread around like Chinese whispers. It needs to stop! I am seeing with my own eyes the classism that exists here and I am seeing how the money that comes into this country from tourism is not reaching the people of Downtown. People are scared because of the propaganda, but they really shouldn’t be. So please don’t be afraid to go Downtown. There is really so much heart, soul and also history that exists there. LOVE!
The Jamaican media is to blame as well. The gleaner for sure they use to even rehashed old crime stories just to sensationalised the situation. That's what Jamaican abroad are use to seeing until the Internet Reading the gleaner abroad you would Think enocent people on the street getting killed at random. They don't make clear that it mainly criminal or domestic
Yet when you say 'this is leading to more poverty, more crime and more violence as a result', your statement unintentionally reinforces the stereotypical view.
@@hotstepper8420I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I think the stereotype that exists is that Jamaica is “overly” dangerous. Reality is, it is still dangerous but just the same amount as any other big city that you go to, because there is good and bad everywhere. I don’t want to sugar coat that either because you still have to be careful and vigilant when coming here. But the truth is, poverty does add to the cycle of crime and violence. However, the crime and violence that does happen here, for the most part, is internal and doesn’t effect tourists. People who live downtown have realised that tourism is beneficial for them so they want to protect their tourists. I’m not trying to pretend that crime doesn’t happen here, I’m just trying to say that it’s not what people think it to be. You still have to take precautions when going downtown and that’s just reality.
You should try meeting the priminister as a young lady who is travelling solo, and out line some of these great points that you’ve made such as the historical aspects of downtown, and how it would attract more tourists, it is very sad as I was born down town, I now reside in London, it was very emotional to see you walk though steets were I grew up, I’ve always had a big vision to see down town developed and show case the very rich historical and cultural aspect of our great reggae music, they should have a reggae yard down town for tourists to visit, show casing artefact’s for back in the days, people lack opportunities and resources, the government needs to create educational opportunities and create jobs to better our country Jamaica land we love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🏾#blessupjeass you are sweet you got a great soul and a big heart ♥️♥️♥️♥️ #andrewholness @bessupjess @andrewholness

Jess, I've been watching since you started your youtube channel in jamaica. I have so much respect for you after you treated that homeless man who was deported from the uk like a human being and not walking past him. You even invited him into the shop. I can seriously say that after that, you're one of my favourite youtuber the others that come to jamaica only come to make content and get likes your very different caring, fun, loving and have a heart ❤️. Keep it up.
Jess just stumbled onto your channel and after watching multiple youtubers, I come to realize you are the kindest, realist vlogger I run across in a long time, most of these vloggers profess how much they love Jamaica when they are only here for the amount of money RUclips pays them, they don't love the country, they lie for views using click bates, I like how you treat the less fortunate
You are a beautiful soul sis... love your energy. Maxium respect to you and the sister who accompanied you throughout the city. You epitomise the fearless Jamaican spirit because you traverse the various locations with confidence. The way you treated the kids to ice cream at Meisha's place and the snacks that were given to those two men at Juici Patties by you was very touching. Such goodwill gestures can inspire others to be more caring. Thanks for highlighting our beautiful country in such a positive way

There is some truth to the dangers of Jamaica. RUclipsrs go for the click bait titles, which Is usually nothing positive for the locals. Poor homeless dude. Was born in Jamaica and raised in England and was probably deported back to Jamaica. I hear a lot of Jamaicans raised in England are getting deported back to the Island ever since Brexit. So sad!
@@blessupjess Ever since Brexit, England govt has been deporting black people back to where they're from whether Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica simply because they can since they no longer have to deal with the EU or answer to them. England is showing who they really are now.
@@blessupjess Ever since England split from the EU, They've been racially discriminating against the black folks there at high levels, even deporting some of them back to the country their parents are from yet they were born and raised in England. It's terrible!

I have British status and it says as part of my status if I commit a crime I can be deported back to where I was born so if Jamaicans who come to Britain and don't seek citizenship any crime committed will be deported
