For that Super Duty to even keep pace is impressive. That's a heavy ass monster. I'm very impressed. I'm a Chevy and Ford guy, so I was impressed with both.
Me too and I don't see why everyone's so uptight about certain car brands. I like Dodge's, Ford's, and Chevy's. Not much of a GMC fan. Some years I like more than others.
Finally. Somebody who sees the light. I've read so much hate on these videos, it's crazy.
Most of the comments about what brand sucks and what brand is awesome, usually comes for twenty somethings living in their parents basement....using mom and dads money to buy and fix up their trucks. People who work for a living and use their trucks as such, could care less about brand. It's the truck that gets the shit done; is the truck they like.
I talked to a Chevy guy who used a F-250 (2001) for wood hauling, pulling trailers in mud, and he said the truck was a 'Work Horse' and very dependable. A lot of people would rather follow a crowd. I like doing research, and randomly asking people about their trucks. Out of 6 Fords, One Issue. Out of 5 Chevy's One Issue. No Dodges or Toyota's. Did I spell that wrong? Toy-O-Ta. Yeah, that Sit.

So my silverado has an LQ4, $2700 4L60E (as bad as Pheonix Trans in Weatherford, Tx could make it) with 3.2k stall, and 3.90 gears with TruTrac diff and has had a busted windshield since the day I brought it home! Rock chip spread across the entire windshield the very afternoon I brought it home from the dealership... It's all about priorities! I don't even notice it anymore, been there for years.
Why is the "replace engine soon" light always on in Chevy pickups? You think GM would have fixed that by now.

Turbo diesels are fairly cheap and easy to "unlock" their potential. Simply adding an intake, exhaust, and a generic tune to a turbo diesel can get you some serious performance(or towing in my case) gains. Manufacturers are infamous for dogging down the engines...for safety and longevity.
Simply put, engines are just air pumps. the more air you can put through them, the better.
That surprised me on the 2nd race.. not bad for an F350! Stall would really help the Silverado but it's probably going to need some boost to turn over these torqued up diesels.

That vintage Chevy bone stock in a 4 by 4 is actually the best carpentry / General construction work truck. the super duty is great if you're literally hauling a trailer on pavement. I don't want to jump up and in and out of that for tools material. Noticed most construction Crews super poopies are sitting while the half-ton Chevys are out working

Tanner Johnston doesn't matter to much because the turbos are there for towing and more power and torque for Towing. Not for speed. i love fords to death, and would choose one over a Chevy any day, but i am genuinely surprised it beat the smaller truck.

One reason why your chevy is so slow off the line is torque management, get a custom tune from wfm performance or black bear, ect and have them turn all that crap off and you will see a huge difference in take off performance...huge difference!

Diesels are very easy to make fast. You can buy a tune that can add 200 hp to your truck for about $300 to $500. Then just add you a straight pipe and you can beat any gas truck. Also the 6.4 if you do those mods can run 13s in the 1/4 mile for less than $800

Should've done downpipe, intercooler pipes, egr delete, and a better trans cooler. Those 6.4 and trans can run hard for a long time with the right mods.
i raced a 7.3 dually with an edge tuner and i got a stock 6.0 chevy 03 with 6 in lift with 37's and the dualie got off at first but chevy always comes out on top :)

is anyone really surprised? It's a gas vs a diesel. the gasser is on slicks and in the lightest form available vs an extended cab dually that is diesel. There's got to be a good 1000lbs or more difference. Gasser also has headers cam blah blah vs a diesel with a tuner.

I don't know much about diesel, i just know that the combustion chamber is in the piston instead of inside the cylinder head. When you delete DPF & EGR and put a 4" straight pipe with it and cold air intake, it will become an animal. Why? I don't know.
It's because most diesels have very restrictive intakes and exhausts, as well as very conservative tunes. With such a big turbo and a large motor that can easily spool the turbo, increasing airflow can really let the turbo build lots of boost and make huge power. Oh, and FYI: the combustion chamber is still in the same place as a gasoline engine. The difference is that diesels have very high compression ratios and the compression of the air and fuel in the combustion chamber is what ignites the fuel rather than a spark plug.
It's sad that he beats him first race then all the ford does is basically add exhaust and re then it when the Chevy does more performance stuff and gets it's ass handed to it... It's just sad it's over half the weight but I'm a ford guy so I'm happy the ford won!

Same here I really want a 04-07 classic body duramax and yeah that's the things with power strokes you put exhaust or sometimes even straight pipe it gains a lot of power cause me and a buddy did it to his old power stroke he had and before he could barely burn the 38s after we put the exhaust it could no problem
Josh Bird Yeah, most diesels are like that, they're all to restricted (and WAY too quiet) from the factory, so a quick easy afternoon of work and you've got a lot more power and a slightly lighter wallet lol :)

Brandon Rogers it's the fact that it's a diesel, you can make easy power with them, my duramax has a stock trans, tune, intake, exhaust and lift pump and it runs high 13s and its lifted 11 in front 9 in back and weighs prob a good 10k

That upgraded exhaust really opens up , but you have to remember that ford is a 55k truck. I would expect to out perform a 1500 any day. when you have all that weight smash down on the rear of that ford, your going to get a good head start. It's all about the weight and power

The Ford is a real work truck not a toy like the 1500. Its mint to tow loads not race hook a trailer up to both and see how far behind that gas truck falls behind.

You need a stall converter for that cammed 5.3L V8. Do that and switch out your pistons with flat top pistons and you will be good to go. These 5.3's do like 4:10 and 4:56 gears but you would definitely need to swap out the transmission.
What transmission would you put?
@@LowNSlow5.3 Depending on what you're wanting. If you're wanting a reliable transmission for towing an enhanced Allison 1000 transmission would be your best option. If you're wanting performance a 4L80-E / 6L90-E with an aftermarket torque converter.
Bryson sadly you are incorrect, my 08 F350 with exhaust intake head studs and H&S Tuner(On HOT) made 530HP and 1020lb/ft. Friends 09 3500 similar mods different tuner (unsure about head studs but it doesn't matter) makes no where near my numbers and is not nearly as quick.

A turbo engine, weather it is gas or diesel, is going to respond to mods better than a non turbo engine. This isn't really about brand vs brand, its about turbo diesel vs NA gas engine. The same would happen if the F350 had been an HD 3500 DMax with the same mods.
