    My favorite band since I was 12. Was incredibly lucky to meet them by accident while I was on vacation in chile. The night before they played, I ran into them and invited to a local bar. They ended up giving me free tickets for the show. Needless to say, they were amazing, super down to earth. I never, ever thought they would agree to sit with me in this bar.

    The Jamerson call out!!! He would go crazy on that bass, but somehow sit perfectly in the pocket and not overshadow anything else in the tune.

    This is actually my favourite all time guitar solo, it just suits the song so perfectly and still goes hard. Glad this tune was in the 7! 🥰

    Awesome STP reactions! They were such a great band! All of their albums were different, but great. They always were able to reinvent themselves on each album and be successful at it. It’s great hearing them again! Thanks! 😊

    when i saw them live Scott was so cool ..they had tech issues so while it was being fixed he grabbed his acoustic sat off the end of the stage and just played and sang to us...was such a special moment

      Scott didn't play guitar. I mean... he wrote the intro to Tumble in the Rough, but he didn't write music on instruments and couldn't play it. That just didn't happen, dude. I saw STP 10 times, VR twice, and Scott solo once. Scott didn't play instruments.

    Totally agree that STP is up your alley. Just wait till you hear tracks from 4 and Shangri-La Dee Da. Might be worth just doing some reactions from those two albums. The best ones IMO. STP were truly the kings of the 90's.

    Love the STP rabbit hole you’ve been on! Since you love bass players so much. You should listen to Dawes. They have an amazing bass player who also builds his own basses and guitars. They also have a phenomenal pianist too. Shit, all those guys are amazing

    Great song, great reaction Dave. James Jamerson, The Original Funk Brother Bassman. True story: When James recorded the Four Tops hit Bernadette, a bet was made that he coudn't play/record the song lying on his back in the studio. He did and that was the track that was used on the recording. He also played intoxicated while on his back on the floor while recording Marvin Gaye's song, What's Going On.

    • @natecorning
      @natecorning Год назад +1

      I believe that was for "Whats Going On" by Marvin where he was drunk and couldn't stand so he recorded it lying down on the floor

      @@natecorning We are both correct. It was definitely Bernadette and What's going on. I corrected myself above. thanks for the heads up.

      I heard that for What’s Going On, he had hurt his back and needed to lie down.

    My favorite STP song! Wasn’t the pre-chorus riff taken from their Zeppelin Dancin’ Days cover?

    So glad to bear witness to the making of a new STP fan. However, for more fun and games with a grunge-era bass try Rotten Apple by Alice In Chains.

    Im a pretty big STP fan. I was a little disappointed by this album, mostly because of Big Bang Baby and Scott's complete vocal reversal. However, this song may be my favorite STP song of all time. The pace is wicked, the thing has to be tiring as hell to play on drums, the bassline is amazing and pops out as its own solo at times, and absolutely love the guitar solo. It gives this song a LOT of heat. Of course Scott is great too, but he actually gets overshadowed a bit by his band here. 🔥🔥🔥

      @@omilett when this came out , me and a friend were listening for the first time. He said, Scott sounds like Chester trying to pick up kids at the middle school. I get it, he was trying out styles to get away from his grunge "Vedder like" sound idiots always compared him to. It just didn't work for me.

      @@73sdawson The whole band was showing off, not just Scott. Proving they would have been a force in any era. They nailed that 60s sound.
