blender sucks for animation because it cant play it back in real time without dropping to 4 fps.... so disappointing.
I mean it literally has a realtime renderer so that reduces time quite a bit
But yeah I do agree to what you say , playback lags quite a bit in complex setups

Yes, most of what you mentioned have been changed or updated in more recent releases
