    I can't get past the beginning with the 2 stitch markers. I chained 21 like you said. SC 20. Then the stitch markers where you put yours. Then I start on the shells. And the first side works fine. But when I get to the second stitch marker, I always end up one space short. And I don't understand why. I've taken it out and started completely over 3 times now and the same thing keeps happening :/

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад +1

      If you are always one short, add one. So try chaining 22.
      The outcome is the goal not the numbers!
      Don’t give up! It gets easier.

    Lovely tip. For us beginners it would be helpfull to know how much/long yarn is needed for a specific size blanket😇 Some yarns are expensive so very good to know how many meters are required.

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 месяцев назад +1

      Typically for blankets that grow like this one I do not give yardages. Also you can use many different kinds of yarn so this would also give different number.
      There are estimated yardages for different projects using different yarns on line.
      I would recommend 1800-2500yards for a throw sized blanket in worsted weight yarn.

    • @helenestiernstrand6575
      @helenestiernstrand6575 5 месяцев назад

      @@JonnaMartinezCrochet Sure. But it is very helpful w this extra info. For example an estimate with a certain hook size and yarn quality.

    Thank you for your tutorials. You have the cutest lil voice. Very soothing. I do have a concern about this rectangular blanket. For the regular beautiful shells blanket there are 7 dc in each space while with this one there is only 5. Is there a reason for this?

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад +1

      +Cynthia Mcintosh thank you so much!💕
      Yes because of the Shape using 7 stitches may cause it to ripple or curl .
      You can try it though 😊

      Jonna Martinez Thank you for you videos. They are always easy to follow. I have a question regarding the rectangle shells. If I want to make the beginning a bit longer, how many chains do I add? I was trying to do the math and think it might be three extra chains per shell. Does that sound right? Thanks and keep up the great videos.

    I have tried so many times to make this blanket and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I had to chain 22 for 21 sc. My shells and sc's don't match up. Will my blanket turn out crooked and wonky?

    • @ArtByKarenEHaley
      @ArtByKarenEHaley 5 лет назад

      In the beginning she said to chain 21, and when you are done with the sc there should be twenty. I was confused at first too

    Hi Jonna, thank you so much for such the great video! I am kind of new to crocheting and made this blanket you made it so easy to understand and follow along, my blanket turned out beautiful only problem I cut my ends way to short and they keep coming loose, is there anything that I can do?

    Are we sure we need the chain 5? It seems bulky? Maybe 4? Or maybe try making the chain section a bit tighter? It seems kind of floppy lol

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад

      +CaraChrétien16 it really depends on how you chain. Some chain tight so they need the 5 others chain-loose so go ahead and chain 4.
      No right or wrong, just make it work for you and have fun!

    Would this pattern work using 7 dc per shell, like the square beautiful shells pattern?

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад +2

      You can if you like but you might get some rippling. As the extra stitches have to accommodate for the shape.
      But I’m sure a few of my shells have seven 😄 I’m so used to counting to 7 in this pattern.
