Good morning! It's 8:34am, April 30th, 2022 as I type this on my computer for the first time as a 19-year-old. Yes, I'm 19 now?! How crazy is that... (:
This film has been one of the most challenging projects I've worked on. A video that I thought would take me one week to edit turned into a 2-month long "headache" of sorts.
A lot of the editing and story structure is a bit experimental and a bit "anti-RUclips." There's no hook, no voice overs, just an experience captured in a way that reflects how I felt. The funny thing is, I actually don't know if I want a lot of my future videos to be edited in this style, however, I'm proud of giving myself the freedom to experiment and to try pushing my boundaries further. I think that's beautiful and something I want to continue pursuing throughout this next year.
I've been journaling a lot more these past few months and it's been really facsinating to watch my values and ideas of how to live my life evolve, be challenged through experience, and surprise me in unexpected ways. I've been asking myself more often: Why not give yourself the gift of experimentation? to say, I might completely fail at this, but at least I gave myself the opportunity to try it. Why not put myself out there? Why not smile at people when they walk by instead of moving past them with no acknowledgment to their existence? Go ask that person out, who cares if they say no, at least you made an effort to make your life more interesting and fun. At least you're going out there and doing something, creating something, and living. As I grow older, I feel my adolenceent nostalgia clock ticking faster and faster. I feel as if time will run out sooner than later and I'll snap my fingers and be an adult with kids. That's great and all and I cannnnnnot wait to be a dad someday, but I want to find ways to slow time down by being fully present in moments.
I believe life is a collection of small beautiful moments and this film was an attempt to capture as many of them as possible.

So i put this video in my watch later list and then waited till my exams were done I mean yeah they are not, but I was continuously putting this vid back.
I have stressed very much on the fact that these videos make me feel things and like I seriously sit here and go into deep thinking for days after watching the videoes.

I feel like it was just yesterday we were all plotting to make you a video for your 16th birthday (16 or 17 idk lol) I was only 15 at the time and now I'm 17 and about to turn 18 in September, what the heck time flies by soo fast.
I loved the editing style in this video, people around the world are so genuine I think that's the best part of traveling. The film was so casual and it felt like we were there with you. I'll be stepping foot in South America for the first time next week actually, in Santo Domingo which is in the Dominican Republic for a tournament.
