    Thanks Annette, that was really interesting about the ladybird larvae. I did know about keeping them in the bag. I thought you just let them go on to the plants. Our weather in South Australia has been beautiful for a few weeks, low 20’s but we have not had rain for weeks and weeks. Don’t know how long now and things are very dry and starting to wilt even though it’s autumn. I am still having to water my garden. Excited as I’m getting a green house today. 💐🥰

      Hi Carol, I think you can just let them go on the plants but the bag is easier! I did 'encourage' a few onto the actual greenfly - I was determined to tackle the problem immediately 🤣
      Wow! A greenhouse! I envy you - I can't tell you how much I'd love and want a greenhouse but we would need planning permission because our property is protected. One day, I may just tackle this problem!

    Everything is starting to come together now with all your seedlings ready to be planted. You are going to have some beautiful flowers and many I have not heard of. When I see your garden and it is looking starting to look lush and beautiful, you should see mine Annette, shrubs still look like sticks in my zone 5 garden. It will come but we need some nice weather, it has been really cold.

      Hi Jane, I can't wait! Yes, I feel lucky to live here where we have shorter winters but then, I'd love to live somewhere with snow every year - some years we don't get any snow at all! Hope your garden warms up soon 😁

    So dreamy! I am ordering new alliums. The stalks on the ones I have are bent, and some are even curled. They were a gift from a friend. My millennium alliums have sunken spots at the base of the plants. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I'm sorry about your aphid problem. 💗

      @cottoverdi  Месяц назад +1

      Oh gosh, Dawn, sorry to hear about the alliums. Do they have sufficient drainage? they sound like the bulbs may be rotting if they are sitting in too much water. It's good to plant them with some grit mixed into the soil. 🧅

    Gret video Annette. Do you have any organic, environmental methods of combating black spot on roses please? You do your crocks exactly the same way as me, ha ha. Your pots are going to look so pretty on you Summer patio, Today, I have been to the allotment to plant up the perennial beds with Hemerocallis, Asters, Achillea, Solidago, Penstemon, roses and Oriental poppies. Poppies. I still have some Rudbeckia to plant too. This afternoon we are spring cleaning the patio and the patio furniture- ready for a hopefully warm and sunny Summer- fingers crossed! Happy gardening. Have a great weekend 🙂 x

      Thanks Be. Unfortunately I've not found anything environmentally friendly for black spot - other than removing the leaves as soon as you see some. Our patio chairs are coming out this weekend - ready for some warmer weather and meals in the garden - hopefully. ☀️☀️☀️😁

    Its all looking stunning, and so healthy! Id be really interested to know what you do regarding rose blackspot. Not sure if youchave it there, but i really struggle with it here in Northamptonshire.

      @cottoverdi  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Kathy, thank you. For blackspot control, I remove and burn the leaves as soon as I see any signs. It's important to stay on top of this and be vigilant because it will spread so fast. Good luck. 😊

    How do you manage your Viburnum Opu;us, do you loose a lot of blooms with the wind and do you cut the bushes back HAPPY GARDENING 🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  2 месяца назад +2

      Hi there, We've never lost blooms from wind, in fact, these Viburnum are some of the easiest plants in our garden. I've never pruned them - yet...but I do intend to prune the lower branches this year once they've finished flowering. I've been growing these since they were tiny 30cm plants and it's taken a while but they are so worth it! My biggest problem with these is that they tend to be attacked by blackly/aphids just as they are about to bloom so I check them on a daily basis and deal with the problem before it gets too big and the blooms are ruined. 😊🌱
