1:27 "It can be used in different ways".
The words I fear the most, lol.
I always thought "on" means "we" in an informal way until I read something this morning where "on" means "they". I was totally blown away. Thanks, Alexa!
I guess it is pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
I think the best way to translate it into English is it means "one".
That was really brilliant - so clear. I'm trying to learn French as an adult, not having the opportunity at school, and I found this very helpful. I feel much more confident about using 'on' now. Merci beaucoup.
Dear teacher, I'm a learner from Brazil. Merci beaucoup pour les vidéos 😁
Thank you. This is gold. Most explanations ignore those first examples, which I'd seen in written speech but didn't understand (like, "On a sonné à la porte.") - or note the warnings about the object pronouns. This makes so much more sense. Edit: In English there's a similar form speaking to children: "What did we learn in school today?" even though you, the adult asking, wasn't in school. I found that really interesting.
Very clear explanation. You are a great teacher. Greetings from Evergreen, Montana, USA. ❤❤❤
I took four years of French in high school, three quarters at one university, and two semesters at another. Somehow, NO ONE has ever explained the proper usage. Now that I’m an adult learning on my own, I decided to deep-dive it a little bit. That’s for explaining something so simple that should have been explained in at least one of my past classes!
Instructor is a huge factor to make it possible...learning french!...not only learning besides of enjoying it!..Its critical to have fun when learning something and its the case with Alexa...Thank you Alexa!

Get aired mate
If 'on' is used for they then we can also use 'ils' for they?
best teacher
Another common use on _on_ is "Comment dit-on ... ?" The equivalent to the English "How do you say ...?"
Mick Six comment dire
Merci beaucoup 🙏🏻🙏🏻🇮🇳😍🙏🏻
VERSION FRANCAISE - Cher Alexa, dans une de l'exemple, tu a dit
I have an account with you, but I don't understand how to access the support guides for older lessons like this one. Can someone help? Merci!

If you want to email me at support@learnfrenchwithalexa.com I'll give you a step by step guide how to access them :)
thank you, Alexa.
I want to ask you about a website contains free grammar and vocabulary exercises for a level 1 student.
Parfait! Je comprends! Merci!
So how do you say we say that it is a restaurant? Wouldn't you also use on???
You can be reflexive with it. On va s'amuser. We're going to enjoy ourselves.
I am not a native French speaker and talking of differences, I fusion belly dance with my daughter and would like to know which is correct to say please:Je suis danseuse du ventre ou Je suis danseuse orientale?Thank you.
both are correct
some consider "danse oriental" more respectful

Thank you so much Alexa, all your videos are really helpful.
Love from Afghanistan
I use often ON and I'm french : )
Hello I'm koraeé I'm learning French hope u help me !!! Reply here or send massage in IG: 0u08y
Wow
Alexia we're proud of you!
ENGLISH VERSION - Dear Alexa, in one of your example.. you said on a sonne a la porte. i stand to be corrected but i think that means someone rang at the door not bell but you can elaborate why it's bell
Je t’aime ❤️💕😘
I am having a technical problem. Some of my comments appear for a day or so, and then disappear. Others, I can see, but no-one else can from their devices. Any suggestions?
Alors on danse! :-)
I very much appreciated the examples because my grammar is rusty. For instance, I don’t remember the definitions of subject pronouns and indefinite subject pronouns, 3rd person singular, etc. I almost gave up watching and wouldn’t have understood if it were not for the examples!
On y va à Paris
nickel meaning in french
On is hard to pronounce
Mon proffeseur explique tout le cours en français et est difficile de comprend, je parle anglais et espagnol et je q aprendrais français un jour 😃
On est arrivés = Nous sommes arrivés - Merci !
On est arrivé and not on est arrivéS : )
I dont know when to use (en ) and when to use (on)
Excellent explanation of a misunderstood subject pronoun. Merci beaucoup Alexa.
"Allons-y!" (Doctor Who)
Merci Alexa. I didn't think it was possible, but I think you are getting even better. So well thought-out.
However, I think there is a typo at 3:46.
It says: Oui, on est arrivés (plural), instead of: arrivé.
On y va:
1. On n'aime pas qu'on lui dise quoi faire.
(People don't like being told what to do.)
2. On dit qu'on aura un hiver très froid cette année.
(They say we will have a very cold winter this year.)
3. On a laissé son sac sur le bus.
(Someone left their bag on the bus.)
4. On a vu le bébé panda au zoo?
(Did you see the baby panda at the zoo?)
5. On ne devrait pas juger un livre par sa couverture.
(One should not judge a book by its cover.)
6. On est allé au baptême de mon petit-enfant.
(We went to my grandchild's christening.)
7. On veut qu'ils nous donnent un indice.
(We want them to give us a clue.)
I'm here to know why Stromae sang " Alors on danse " and not " Alors nous dansons "
Shouldn't "Someone rang the bell." use "quelqu'un" instead of "on"?
On... A tiny word has so many uses. Wow
Je donne ma soeurs une pomme merci beaucoup mon professeur Alexa
ici on parle français
She’s legit
I feel sorry that my brain gets confused when I hear a lot of technical grammar language, like indefinite and subject pronouns. I suppose I need to learn those again.
En france on aime le pain...In france people like bread
So, "on" can mean "they", "people", "someone", "you", "one" or "we"!
Merci pour votre aide, Alexa
Les gens ici - quoi de neuf, mecs!?
Qu'ont les gens ici : p
It's plurial and its not possible " nous "
Sorry I speak very bad English : (
Zoriolu Don't worry. My French is still beginner level, but my English is very good. I understood you. ;)
Couldn't you just say "on" is used when you're mentioning the absentee
These examples just made things more confusing
They and we not are the same..
???
Galaxy Tab
They = Ils or Elles
We = Nous or On
