  • If you've been following the chisel restoration over the last couple of months, you might have spotted the damage to two edges of the box.
Well, with the holiday period coming up I thought a quick repair and a few days away (for the glue to dry) might get this tiny job done.
I was so pleased with the results. I'll do a little more once the glue has had another couple of weeks to dry out properly. And we can see exactly how well its repaired.
It's shown me that I can make repairs to boxes and it could keep them in better condition for longer.

Thanks Pat. I'm really pleased with it. As I said I've not tried it before and it's so much better. We'll worth having a go to save a cool box from getting worse.

I've used a similar method for book binding, the PVA will take a long time for all the water to evaporate under the film but will dry out once you remove the film. A great fix and useful video as ever. Happy New Year to you and your family. All the best for 23.

That's what I thought.. There's a shiny part on one side now. I'll let it dry for another few days and add it to a Vlog post. On the whole though.. A Flippin gorgeous success 😁😁😁

@@twcmaker definitely! Was really worried the film would stick. I found an old box of the game ‘Pairs’ the other day while tidying the shed. Must be from the 50s. The box is quite bad in places and sadly irredeemable at one point but I reckon using this method it might see another 20 years at least! Might graft a new piece of card into it.

It's got to be worth a try hasn't it. I think a wipe with some Renaissance Wax on the film might stop it sticking. Polish up the film just before using it.

Thank you. Its a clear plastic film from packaging. Gloss side doesn't stick
