there are 4 types of diabetic neuropathy but the VA, only considers one( peripheral neuropathy , the one mentioned in this video, the 3 others Autonomic neuropathy ( controls blood pressure, heart rate, digestive system s and sex organs(erectile dysfunction in males, Mononeuropathy( focal neuropathy) symptoms include double vision, paralysis on one side of face, pain in your shin or foot ,when a nerve is compressed as in Carpal tunnel syndrome.. I have a C&P exam this Sunday and I am trying to get the va ( via medical evidence connecting the dots, web sites like NIH, WEBMD,Mayoclinic, etc. and a letter from myself stating the correlation between the different types. Hope it works, will let you know if it does.

Do you have any insight or possible examples that can help shed a little light on the subjective terms “mild, moderate, severe”? It’s so helpful to those of us with nerve conditions of any kind (regardless of which original Service Connected condition were filing secondary to) to have a better understanding of what differentiates those categories for VA rating purposes. Thank you so much! I hope you’re able to see and answer. I appreciate your help!

I have type 2 diabetes and I am service connected and after 7 years of being out of the military I have been put on insulin and my neuropathy in my feet 🦶 has been getting worse.! I filed a claim and they said that I am filing a claim that I previously claimed when I got out! I filed a claim for nerve damage because I thought at that time it was related to a injury.! My service rep kinda of screwed me by not wording things correctly.! I got a C&P exam for my increase for my diabetes but still haven’t got a exam for my neuropathy! I had to fill out a paper explaining what I am claiming and I put down neuropathy in my feet, so after 7 years of being out of the military I finally got a diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy so it is in my records and has been for quite a long time looking back at my military records.! I have complained about it for a long time.! So I guess the question is why haven’t I heard anything from the vba about my exam .?

I'm sorry, we would not know the answer to this as we do not have any control over the timeline of the VA. Thank you for watching and we wish you the best!

Easier said than done. Especially if you don't trust the person in the exam with you.
