After trust has been broken - never hide something and excuse it for yourself as “I don’t want to risk him worrying in vain”. If you feel the need to hide it, he should know and be prepared. Because if he finds out in some other way, you will just be way less credible and you only prove that you’re still not to be relied on.

I’m currently trying to fix trust between me and my boyfriend as I did something that hurt him. I took accountability and made it clear it would never happen again. I explained why it happened to him and once again explained why I would never hurt him like that again. I told him I would do whatever it takes and however long it takes to gain his trust back. I’ve promised to make it work but he just doesn’t seem too interested in a relationship with me anymore. It breaks my heart because it wasn’t something I was able to control at the time.

I think it entirely depends on how that trust was broken and to what degree. Some things are very serious and others less so. How you lost the trust matters.
My boyfriend broke me up because l lied about color of my eyes. I met him online and told him the truth after we met. He went livid and broke me up. I feel like garbage.

I really hurt him, not by cheating rather than stab him in the back! I love him more than everything and I would never give up on him. It months now he moved on, but every minute he is in my mind. How do you give back trust though without thinking that he/she might hurt you the same way again? If he/she has already cheated once, then there's a chance that he/she would do it again whether or not a pact has been made.

Realistically you don't have a good reason to trust someone who has cheated on you already, if you do decide to it's a decision made on blind faith, not sound logic.

I lost his trust because I told a friend of his that he seems insecure when I socialize, Not in secret, with his other friends. Now this friend of his told his other friends about this, and the story had gotten all twisted around. I did not mean for this to happen For for anything to get out like that 😞
All I said to his friend was “ I better go outside and look for him because it won’t look good to him that we’re talking”. I’m not flirting with this man, we were just talking about family and I brought up about how my boyfriend may seem insecure us talking.

I do not agree with the whole pact thing, how can someone trust you after you have broken his or her trust, based on your words. I think that trust will come after the actions have been made not the words being said!
+Em M I think the pact is a start, showing the commitment by stating the consciousness of the importance of the situation is a good thing, but it means nothing if there are no actions involved.

Matt, what if u broke ur partner's trust (not by cheating on him)but by making him insecure by smthg u said yet didn't mean then he completely shutdown. He still wanna have u but the pain seems to stay there no matter how hard he tries to forget it? What can that person do to fix thgs and gain his partner's broken trust again?

+Kelly Lorene, +Karrina Merino First of all, you need to give him space, so he can understand if he can get over something like this or not. Then if he wants to forget it as you said, but doesn't seem to be able to do that, that's where you help him, by making him feel more secure in the relationship and helping him understand why he ever wanted to be with you in the first place. So, if even after you say you're sorry and explain why you did it and that you're not going to do it again and you show him through actions that you mean it - and he still can't seem to forget, which is basically his unwillingness to forgive you, then I would argue you do not need such a man in your life. We all make mistakes, now you might have said it without even realizing it was hurting him and that doesn't absolve you of your fault, but when you go with that to a person who truly loves you and you are honest about it and explain all of that- your person, would eventually sooner rather than later forgive and forget about it. Because being so controlled by your own emotions isn't healthy at all, and if he can't get over himself for just one second to put himself in your shoes, then you deserve someone better. You shouldn't be looking over your shoulder and walking on eggshels all your life just because they can't handle their own feelings in a kind understanding and adult way. How more accomodating do you want to be to a manchild? Or do you actually want to love and be loved by a man who wouldn't get completely shutdown by some words you didn't even mean?

it's extremely hard almost impossible to get a man into a space with u that he was once,.. 1) men we naturally don't want love, we want excitement and variety, if u get one to settle with u only, u truly have his heart over all people, and to shatter that, u have shattered his inner being, 2, we have pride which is the biggest thing,.. thirdly, a woman, no matter how much he loves u, u lose full value to him. U were precious, his jewel his everything, the one thing in the world he doesn't have to share, to share yourself with another person makes u worthless to him.. that's y we can't stay or if we can, it'll always be there in our minds.. to keep it 100, especially when u married, he has to have a full mental view change in order to get over and move on. I cheated on my bf, because there was a void inside of me, I felt so invalidated. Then I realized that I had been too needy and was not contented. Now I am so guilty, it agonizes me every second, I feel shame. Now what I am doing to prove to him I wont do it again is by loving him without asking anything in return, as it was the root of the betrayal at the 1st place. I dont ask for his trust, I dont ask for anything. I am proving myself that I wont go anywhere even if I am not receiving anything back from him. I hope he would give me another chance.

My ex left me for another man because she felt panic and thought it wouldn’t work out. She found out after that everything that she wanted was right around the corner, but she pulled the plug too soon. I forgave her for leaving me in fear, but I will never forgive her for having someone else ready as my replacement. She regrets what she did, but she clings to this other man out of fear of loneliness. She wants me back, but she shows no effort of doing what is right by me. Same and the sad thing is his lack of trust is because his ex lied and told him I was cheating but I wasn’t. The mistake I made was not telling him about a text message from a male neighbor that had nothing to do with me cheating. The neighbor actually told me he was cheating on me with the girl that told him I was cheating on him. Confusing I know. I knew it was a lie so I didn’t want to fight about it & now he says that he can’t trust me and thinks that I deleted any messages I didn’t want him to see but there was truely nothing going on. It’s so frustrating! We only had communication because our kids played together. But he believes because I kept this text from him that I am lying about cheating too. I was able to prove that a lot of what they said was lies and they haven’t proved 1 thing they said about me even though they claim to have text, pictures & videos. 🤦🏼♀️ I just don’t see how he doesn’t realize that they are full of crap!!!!
Cheating is the most hurtful experience one can do to it's spouse.
If it's for a short time, if they break up right away and for good and real regret is showed to you, then it's worth forgiving...maybe.
If the cheating took a long time and strong feelings were between cheaters... you are better leaving that person because the hurt won't stop when they stop seeing their mistress, ( actually they will keep lying to you, and will continue seeing that person behind your back now) you'll be hunted for a very long time by sordid details, wake up in the night screaming for revenge, crying without control in any public space, your self image shattered by your spouse putting another person sexually above you for long time...
It's just not worth.

I don't know if Mr Hussey would ever read this. However, I had to mention something when you spoke about the "PACT". I think what you said is absolute wrong. Extremely immoral thing to ask a betrayed spouse. If one cannot cherish and respect the trust of the spouse and betrays, does not have any right to ask for it while "reset". Mr. Hussey, there are 3 things in life must be earned or else it will always be taken for granted: MONEY, RESPECT and TRUST. You DO NOT ask him/her blindly to trust you again, you earn it, nature it and treasure it.

I’ve done this but he won’t accept that I’m telling the truth. I didn’t tell him something because I didn’t want to fight about it. He can be difficult to talk to sometimes. His ex told him I was cheating. The thing I didn’t tell him had nothing to do with me cheating on him but now he keeps insisting that I’m not telling him the truth about cheating even though I am. Just because I didn’t tell him about this other thing. I explained why I didn’t tell him and assured him it would never happen again. I was trying to avoid an argument over something I deemed to not be important anyways. I was honest, admitted my mistake and explained why. Is there anything else I can do. Is this a lost cause? He had trust issues to begin with & after the ex told him I was cheating he started seeing signs everywhere. Like looks I was giving a neighbor to show interest when I was looking at everyone exactly the same way. It became an obsession but it never really happened.
We fight because of me and then he don't talk to me for a day and then I called him at the evening and then he switch off his mobile phone and feel so much anxious like I want to talk to him just for one time but he don't want to and then I opened Instagram and scrolling the reels and I got one reel that he'll leave you one day something something and then I go to my block list and then unblocked my ex for jo reason and I just scrolling the chats and then I find one chat where I said plz don't leave me don't talk to any another girl I love you so much and then I'm starting crying I feel like my current also leave me like he did and i screenshoted that chat and then my boyfriend saw that chat everything is ruined by mee I just hate my self I love him alot like and I can't live without him he is my everything things are not same as it was we were very happy in our love life but ruined everything

I am pretty good in my relationship but there is one thing that I do wrong. I compare this relationship to my previous one (not a lot but sometimes). For example, today I was upset because I said that I had to do all the cleaning and working a job and couldn't get guy x to do much at all in terms of housework to help me out. He said well I'm not that guy and you need to stop thinking about that. Everything we do as a couple is a team effort. I said I know but I need to get out of this mindset I have. It's bad. But he was wrong today too. I know he didn't mean it but he never should've said it. He said if we don't do things as a team I can just go back to my dad's and that's that. Again I know he didn't mean it but it did hurt a little. So we both said things that we shouldn't have.
