Kid Pambelé, magnífico boxeador con una técnica de privilegio, consagrado como uno de los mejores campeones peso por peso, pero todo ese récord apenas le alcanzó para mantenerse en pie hasta el final, se enfrentó a un hombre que estaba mas allá del mejor de los mejores, al incomparable, nunca mas volveremos a ver algo siquiera parecido.

Tuve el privilegio de ver todas las peleas de este hombre en el Luna Park. Nos alegraba. Nos cambiaba la semana. Lo que nunca pude entender es cómo hacian los árbitros para mantener la compostura, cuando todo el estadio era una carcajada ante los yerros de sus rivales. Fue el mejor del mundo en lo suyo: defensa impenetrable. Tambien pegaba y duro, lo puede testimoniar Paul Fuji, que abandono en el 10mo. round, creo. Un saludo a los amantes de este arte.

Ese día fue buena la defensa de Locche, pero no creo que haya sido lección, en la segunda pelea lo puso a llorar al no poder salir en el 9no round, aprendió mucho Pambelé esa noche y se notó en la segunda pelea entre ellos.

I have Whitaker 3rd, but I still can't decide who was better between Locche and Pep. Pep was definitely the greater boxer, but Locche was possibly, albeit slightly, better defensively.
