You hit the mark when you talked about running relaxed. That was the most important thing for me to overcome with my sprinting, the fact that I tensed up rather than relaxed when I would run. Once I practiced and practiced and got a hold of my mind and emotions in a better way, I became A LOT faster....
Doing it and saying it (teaching) are 2 different things, this video is Very Good. It helped my 13 year old daughter improve her speed while playing soccer. Thanks
My coach tells us to do those everything day at practice as a warm up and it actually works. I've had improvements on my form and my speed. Last year I was running 26secs on my 200meter, now I run 24secs and I won my 200meter race at state.
i play basketball, and i was really slow which was affecting my talents, and this video came along and BAM i have become a better complete complete athlete. Thank you
I got a few questions ; - What would you recommended for 50yr dash sprint, closed or open fist? - Where should we keep our head in other words look towards where - Is it better to run tall or low? (like crouch a little bit?) - What do you reckon i do when running towards the wind? I know it's quite a bit i just feel those are the areas i need to work on.. great video thumbs uppp!
i came here because i am about to sign up for indoor track racing at high school :), thx for everything! i use to move my hands like that but with a fist which somehow made my arms heavier.
Thanks im going to start tommarow I need this because this year im playin pop warner jr miget dont know what division im playing but need to train as hard as I can before the season im already fast back on my old team I played kick returner so need to get as faster as possible THANKS FOR THE HELP
@kakafastlennon Yes those drills can help a lot. I would recommend doing a speed training workout at least 2-3 times per week (combination of speed drills such as ladders, resistance work, agility drills, short sprints, etc). Coordinate these with weightlifting routines (do lower body on the days that you do the speed work so your legs can recover) and also plyometric exercises such as box jumps, etc.
Thanks for the tips. Long ago my friends teased me because I was slow in running. I was mostly teased by the athletes in my class. 2 athletes where mainly in my class. Then we had a race and I was second place. I ran 9.8 Miles per hour. The Other athlete ran 9.9 miles per hour. So close :)
thanks this really helps i play baseball and im not that fast and i can drive the ball butt i sometimes get out at two i want to be always safe (unless really good throw) so this really helps
thank you so much, this is my last year of football and im awful at it.. the smallest kid on the team at 145lb and 5'10" and my 40 is 5.1.. i'm not fast i'm not the most coordinated i mess up on plays but this year i'm going to do my best. run a 4.7 and bench 225 :)
Hdtechsoccer i play rugby and gaelic and im the fastset on both teams, i sprint with my hands kind of curved in irder to scoop the air, it helps , try it!
this helped me alot, just started running in high school as a sport and this guy thats a bit smaller then me and he ran so fast and for so long that i couldnt even keep up
interesting , you're good! do you have any videos on stretching before running or ways to prevent injury when sprinting?. i was doing HIIT training today and did a full on sprint and i think i actually pulled my thigh muscle. any advice? thanks?
@cian110 you should see some results quickly (that comes from just correcting your running form). The longer and harder you train the quicker that you'll find results. Speed doesn't come quick or easy...it is a process, because if it wasn't everyone could run sub 4.5. So work hard and train right with proven programs that involve hard work and sweat (get fast quick programs don't really work, only running form correction and combine tricks aka angling your feet, etc. work immediately)
@hugo88612 this is for improving speed and quickness, these are drills to work on your sprinting form, if your mile run requires you to run quickly/sprint it will make a difference
@123superplay i dont think it is a must, but i am a striker, and it really helps to feel where my defender is so when my back is to the net, i know which way to spin off when i receive the ball. if you make a fist, who knows what the ref will interpret it as
Hands open, decreases aerodynamics resistance. Which is another reason why it's important to keep your elbows tucked; swinging your arms out increases your area of contact with the air.
I'm 18, I'm 5'3 1/2", And I run a 40 yd dash in 4.44 seconds, and a 100m in 10.78 seconds. And in the 4x100 I ran a 10.5 split as the 1st leg (which is supposed to be the slowest out of all the other times
@bourquechris yeah, if you add weights to sprint drills, it will make you a lot faster. but do it short distances. if you sprint for more 75m with weight, you could get injured.
@potsticker11 You will just have to play the game as you normally would. Don't worry about you hands because its not something that you can control in lacrosse. If you play another sport or are at a combine, make sure to run relaxed with you hands open.
Will this help improve your speed in like 3 days because that is when my sports day is I always come second my like the length of my knee to my ankle and this year I would really like to win
@MrHaydenjh yes this will mainly with your technique, but you also have to do explosive workouts like powerclean, squats, explosive jumps like tuck jumps (using a weighted vest makes this more effective) the key thing though is training fast if you want to get fast, you must train fast
Nice video. Especially the scripture at the end. Galatians 6:7-8 ( Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.) Powerful May GOD bless you.
@GuyWithGun789 the key to doing these drills is to do them often enough that you're body automatically does these without you thinking. if you need to think about keeping good form, you're not doing these drills enough.

Good work man keep it up...

thanks i learned alot
thanks for posting
on the first day of my track training this is what my coach told us to do. just swinging the arms like that.
well the point is to make you faster so i would think keeping your hands open also contributes to aerodynamics and wind resistance.
Watching this to prep for USMC PFTs
cool vid thx it will help me play football better and smarter
Really worked, thanks
@hugo88612 this is for improving speed and quickness, these are drills to work on your sprinting form, if your mile run requires you to run quickly/sprint it will make a difference
@shreyas427 What about like squats or something? what would your rep range be? and would you be explosive on each rep?
@123superplay i dont think it is a must, but i am a striker, and it really helps to feel where my defender is so when my back is to the net, i know which way to spin off when i receive the ball. if you make a fist, who knows what the ref will interpret it as
thanks man, helped a lot.
that worked out even tho im fast already some more speed doesnt hurt still learning to do it perfectly but i see the improvements
What you'll need for the Corps is endurance. Not short distance speed. Heart and a lot of dedication!
@bourquechris It can, but only if u sprint in them. u can do jogs from time to time, but focus on sprinting, and that will make u faster.
@jarrodjm80 I used to play pop warner which state do u play in
really works , thx.. i used to run 100M normal is 11.65, now i got better and got 11.34!! thanks

1:00 So if i play soccer i don't need to open my hands right? Looks rediculous on a soccer field the other day
great video!
@bourquechris
yeah, if you add weights to sprint drills, it will make you a lot faster. but do it short distances. if you sprint for more 75m with weight, you could get injured.
I don't play sports, but I am a pretty fast runner and I would like to get better. Thanks for the advice.
