the fact that the whole plot of the administrator in the end was just the ultimate "fuck you in particular" is probably one of the most TF2 things to end on
That's what I always liked about TF2, it's "Seriously Goofy" Like you could have a story where some evil administrator is gonna cause major deforestation just cause a tree fell on his house, and there wouldn't be any deeper meaning to it, it's like that just cause. And even when moments are Serious they almost always have a joke to add in. (Tho sometimes it can be pretty wholesale and heartwarming like with the ending and the reveal of Spy being scouts dad!)
Exactly. It's so unbelievably simple and yet it works perfectly for her character. Also, the fact that she doesn't even remember why she started doing it is the cherry on top.
@@thelastcrow5660 Hence the comic’s title “The days have worn away” So much time had passed that she forgot the reason why she seeked revenge on Zephaniah in the first place, and the 3 different starting covers portray this: Did he kill her parents? @weeb_dweeb It fits with the themes of the game. TF2 is all about entertaining but ultimately pointless chaotic bloodshed on a land that is completely useless, driven by a childish conflict between two brothers. The mercenaries can't die because Medic attached all their souls to his, Merasmus is afraid of the Mafia despite the fact that he's thousands of years old and can't die, Pauling is loyal to the wrong person to the point of delusion, etc.
If Zepheniah was somehow responsible for the death of the Administrator’s parents, it makes it even more tragic because her hatred of the man completely overshadowed the love of her own family to the point she forgot about them.
even worse, time has degraded her emotions for so long that she doesn't even remember why she hates him, probably doesn't even "hate" him anymore, and she only continues to carry on because she knows she has to for a reason she forgot
@@freetoplayking7362 No, I think that the covers actually imply that the Administrator's family has been rivals with the Mann family for a long time and that for three consecutive generations the parents of the family have been murdered by the Manns. Finally after three generations of murder the Administrator decided to take revenge upon the Mann family and ultimately succeeded in completely destroying it in the most agonizing way possible.
I say, Miss Pauling's backstory never being revealed actually fits into the themes of the comics, one of them being obsession. Similary to how The Administrator lost her motives a long, LONG time ago and was only doing all of this out of pure obsession, so did Flo. Sure, she's nowhere near as ancient as Helen, but she was still heading towards a smiliar path lacking any real purpose, no starting point, no end point, just a straight, literally pointless line marching to absolute nothingness
Something I liked was actually Engineers role in all this. He suggested to Pauling that she should get rid of the Australium, end the cycle that had been going for ages. But out of every merc, he's the only one whose family has been part of the cycle as well. His father and grandfather, at least, were also both part of this endless conflict. Ms Pauling and Engineer both know, better than any other character, that latching onto a broken miracle never ends well. So allowing him to be the one who suggests she break away (much like how he ALSO wants to break away) is very pleasant.
I like how Engie says that if Pauling keeps the Australium, he won't stop her, but he won't help any further. Engie has decided to end his family's role in the cycle right there and then. He was the first to realize how pointless and warped this all is.
Even with his lack of presence in the actual story, only really appearing a handful of times, his character is insanely well developed. Also he has both of his hands. That still bugs me.
Since team fortress is the only group that the OG mercenaries failed killing off, doesn’t that mean they’re technically the best mercenaries to ever live.?🤨🐱
they are still the worst even if everyone else is dead, you could hire a gang of hobos and get a job done better fr it was a miracle that miss pauling managed to kill tf classic team by managing the worst team alive
I mean, what did you expect. They have: Maybe God's gift to humanity. A psychopath who can endure so much pain. Pyro A drunk Scottish cyclops, who can produce alchohol in his own body A strong man who won the genetic lottery The grandson of the man, who invented an immortality machine A doctor who managed to trick the devil A professional crazed gunman And a very skilled spy
Idk the whole "they're the worst team" thing is really strange. The craziest team would make more sense. I've always assumed that the mercs are insane in their own different ways but also really good at that they do. Kinda surprising that they are considered underdogs among the other mercenaries
@@deffa429 they're the worst not because they're bad, they're the worst because likely every mission they go through ends up with massive collateral damage and civilian harm, and things almost never go according to plan

I love that he showed up first to the reunion and kept up the reputation of being a nowhere man to Scout's kids, because I don't know if Scout realized that Spy is his dad
I think miss paulings loyalty was simply because of the administrators personality, Even without knowing her goal, without knowing what she truly wants, she knows the administrator is DRIVEN, she will stop at nothing to achieve that goal, and Pauling wanted to be part of that Until she learned what the administrator truly was. What that goal really amounted to.
More to the point, she learned there *wasn't* any goal. The Administrator had already achieved the closest thing her plan had to an actual goal and she'd done it ~100 years ago. Everything since then was going nowhere. She was 'driven', sure, but only to move in eternal circles.
The administrator's story is a good example of how revenge can poison someone. After she got what she wanted there was nothing left in her but hatred. She couldn't move on.
@@rawmaw Not really, when Cuckmann's alleged 'story' had sparing the target of vengeance come back to bite them in the ass. Kino Fortress 2's story had the Administrator achieving her vengeance, and leaving her hollow. When she was brought back with Australium, she went back for even more vengeance to the point where it was an endless cycle of pain and torment for Zepheniah Mann. It was too late for the Administrator, as even in death she still claims that the trouble she went through was worth it. When Miss Pauling was presented the same choice, she chose to break the cycle.
@@AnakinFury Thanks to TF2 I now have 2 games where the whole Consequences of Revenge are shown correctly. TF2 and No More Heroes Ironically, both games have Medic's VA lol
Tbh, yeah Miss Pauling is probably the main protagonist, but I would say that Jeremy is a close runner up, and that final scene of him leading the reader to dinner nailed what I’ve always thought about him. True to his loudmouth personality he really steals the show in some scenes, but more importantly he delivers a lot of the hard hitting characterization that the cartoonish mercs sometimes lack. He’s one of the most delusional and self-aggrandizing, but also one of the most genuine out of everyone. Like he’s put in situations that are way beyond him, and he can only barely keep himself afloat by puffing out his chest and repeating how awesome he is. Through all the big talk, it really does feel like the writers loved this character and wanted us to know he’s a lot deeper than what we initially see.
What did you think of it?? I feel so much relief knowing there is an end to this story. The comics was also really awesome and cool and really amazing and the best thing I have ever read (in my honest and unbiased opinion).
@@jzlazy1057 I'm happy to see an end to the story but it did feel like a kind of "let's runaround and cap the story real quick," sort of thing. In my head I think I was expecting a much more grand finish to the robots going out to suck all the australium out of the Australians. But it doesn't diminish my love for the series as a whole of course.
@@Seasparrow_8 Iirc the Australium robots were described as a failed project of the administrator by tfc heavy? Also, demo just destroys them all at the start of the naked and the dead. The comics end with the mercs finding Australium wasted on stupid hobbies like the rockets, only for it to be revealed that the Administrator only wanted Australium for an equally wasteful hobby.
Another detail that I think is important to point out, is that even as the cycle with the Administrator ends, there's hints that another cycle could be starting up, as Saxton Hale leaves Bidwell (Blue) and Reddy (Red) to "work out the details." The cycle might continue or start again, but that doesn't mean you have to be part of it.
I like how in the end, The Administrator's motives brought everything back to how the game all started off; no grandiose scheme or ambitions why these two people are fighting each other, it's a forever-feud fighting over literally and figuratively nothing.
Tf2 fans finally eating something after starving for years Also does this confirm that miss Pauling's full name is Flo pauling? Edit : im also happy to see you finally so enthusiastic about TF2 again!, I know you've been waiting for the final comic forever
I've always loved TF2, but when there's really not much going on game or lore wise, it becomes hard and soulless to scrounge around for things to make video content on. With the final comic releasing, there IS stuff to talk about again, stuff to be excited about, and most importantly, closure. I'm not totally sure if I'll make further videos regarding the revelations from this comic. If I do it'd likely be centered around the Administrator, but I'm sure someone will beat me to it. I don't find it enjoyable talking about seasonal updates in a scripted format. On the rare occasion I stream I'll definitely voice my opinions, but making a video for the sake of making a video on something I'm not passionate about is not how I roll. I did that out of necessity a few years back and it was draining.
@SkyminSlash I know, I've been watching you ever since 2020 and I know how fed up you are with the game, but finally seeing a conclusion and going "oh I can do other things now!" Is so good
Post-Game Comment: Not only did Pauling have a good argument to be promoted, she probably had the best one. Classic Heavy admits he and his team were sent to take out the other TF Industries mercenary units, basically acting as a death squad and eliminating them all. Then Pauling's Team Fortress took out the death squad. So it's entirely likely her merc unit were the only survivors, giving her probably the loudest claim to the company. And with the last, presumably only, remaining mercs in the company's employ backing her up she could have taken over TF Industries without any real issue. She was the only one of the Administrators assistants who was able to fulfill her duties in their entirety to the end.
like, she managed to successfuly keep every merc alive from the worst team alive, successfully doing the job of takin down classics, the team that killed all the other merc teams that's monstrous amount of respect, being able to manage even the bottom of the barrel with success
There also could be the idea that all of the other assistants died with their teams, meaning Pauling is the only one left to take control of TF Industries.
@@MerkeligStrormride It's possible that all the other assistants/handlers died with their teams yes, but those teams were supposedly better both in skill and equipment than Fortress was. So it's likely those handlers may not have felt the need to ever go into the field and actually interact with their assigned unit. They could in turn make a claim for the now vacant CEO position. Then they have to face down Pauling and her trump cards, the last living merc unit under the TF Industries banner. With their shared history, our mercs would undoubtedly throw their lot in with Pauling and allow her to assert full control of the company.
@toakongu1 Then again, the assistants were probably sent with their teams to prevent them from turning on the Administrator. After all, what stops the teams from turning if they found Australium?
I disagree that Ms. Pauling's loyalty to the Administrator was broken- I read that scene as Pauling realizing that withholding the Australium from the Admin would actually be an act of kindness.
It’s weird to say, but the Administrator reminds me a lot of Clockwerk from Sly Cooper. A being of untold age filled with spite for one family, who has spent so long prolonging their life through hate and sci-fi augmentation…and yet it was all meaningless. We never know why Clockwerk hates the Coopers, or why the Administrator hated Zephaniah. Hate itself slowly becomes the reason for their continued existence. Wonderful video, and I love the Pauling cosplay. Your outfits are always amazing to see.
The fact that they released the final comic and it had a great ending, not only for the comic series but for the franchise altogether is honestly the best Christmas gift I could've gotten this year.
I just realized that this plays back nicely into the longstanding theory I have that Half-life\Portal take place in the same universe as TF2. The golden mineral used to start thr resonance cascade? The last of the Australium, forgotten about until its rediscovery at the bottom of a trench.
Not to be a bore, but the Xen crystal being an alien sample that Dr. Breen specifically introduced to allow the Combine in is quite an important part of extended HL lore. Considering how TF lore has explicitly stated that many historical events are different than in our world, I'd say they shouldn't be all in the same universe.
@Eragon954 On the history differences: isn't that just history as understood by the leas-poisoned Tufort people? Or could be. As for the extended lore, fair enough, but I choose to believe there's still hope.
I mean, I don't dislike the idea of Team Fortress being the worst of all the teams, so badly that they've been "forgotten", but they... Actually are a lot more competent than they look, as weird as they can seem. My theory is that they're not 'the worst of them all', but that they are a sort of "black ops" team. That the Administrator willingly hid their presence and records, same as with Miss Pauling, as a last ace in the hole card.
I'd rather say that Team Fortress is the worst because it is the most unstable and unpredictable team. They are responsible for a great number of accident (creating a giant bread monster for exemple ) and are for sure ( sorry Sniper ) the least professional team. Team Fortress is more like a cocktail of dangerous maniacs and this is why they thrive in the chaos they tend to create ( willingly or not )
I think they're the 'worst of them all' in the sense that everyone assumes they're really bad at their jobs, and are treated like such; so, the Administrator *was* employing them as the 'worst' team. But, they're not the 'worst' in actuality; Fortress is basically being overlooked because they're so goofy.
Ooh I kinda like that, it makes way more sense then on why the Administrator had Engie on the team - who probably have the closest working relationship to her out of any of the other mercs in the company
This is what I was thinking. I think they're legitimately the best of the best in their fields. However they're absolutely psychotic and unpredictable. Think Jack Sparrow, he *seems* like a bumbling idiot, but he's shockingly clever and competent. Which is why he always winds up on top, to many people's surprise. Otherwise, it just seems really odd that Dell Conagher is pretty much *THE* Engineer of TF Industries, especially since he is continuing his family legacy of working directly with the Administrator on the life-extending technologies his grandfather invented, and yet is assigned to one of the worst teams? No, especially considering the name "TF Industries" I think Team Fortress was always intentionally the Administrator's strongest team. But to make sure no one figured out what her true goal was, and to keep the eternal fighting going, she made sure that their team was overlooked and underestimated.
The 9 classes are roles that have been filled by countless nameless mercs. This is most evident in Blood Brothers where Redmond has a couple of engineers that clearly aren't Dell. Team Fortress likely has the lowest standards for entry, but the main cast of mercs prove to be exceptionally strong. Its just their rough personalities that make them unable to find better jobs.
It’s so fucking powerful that she decides that continuing whatever fucking meat grinder the administrator was perpetuating wasn’t worth it and chose to put a stop to the madness and the bloodshed that the australium was the sole cause for. It made me tear up.
The comic also implies the Zepheniah Mann ghost in the halloween maps is either him during his "resting" period or the Administrator setting up holograms and illusions to mess with both brothers and their mercs
I like to think it's moments when he is actually dead for a short bit before the Admin reloads the Australium in his machine. Or maybe she lets him die for a few moments, only to revive him a few minutes later just to keep fucking with him. Like, "alright, here's the sweet release of death you're craving LOL jk". I wouldn't put it past her; the spite she held for this man literally kept her alive.
@@trabunt7111 The Mann brothers also tend to "temporarily die" every now and then when their life extender machine fails, so it's not implausible to assume the same can happen to Zepheniah. And I agree, the Administrator *would* do that.
I think Pauling was infatuated with Administratior, and when she finally saw what the Administrator was truely after just as Grey said, she realized that she was doing the same thing as Scout was, becoming obsessed with a fairy that will never truely love you.
Without any irony or mockery, the TF2 comics are one of the best comics I have ever read, up there with Watchmen, V for Vendetta or The Crow, and this final one only solidified my love for them. I do wish it would have taken less than 7 years but man, was it worth the wait, one of the best endings of any piece of media.
Who knew that the main protagonist of TF2 wasn't the mercs. Or the Administrator. It was Miss Pauling all along. After all these years, we finally got the 7th and final comic. It's really worth the wait. Although I wonder. What's Team Fortress 2's future now? We'll just have to find out in the coming years.
THANK YOU. THIS is what I’ve been trying to say for YEARS. Also I’ve been waiting just as desperately for your video on the last comic as I’ve waited for the last comic itself
The comics may have ended, but the game hasn't. While there's a theme of embracing change and looking forward to the future, why not change TOGETHER? And hold onto the things we love and cherish even after so long. While we change, TF2 will change, and we'll be right at each other's sides no matter what.
I feel like something cool that Valve could do in a next major update if one ever comes out, is make it so that Miss Pauling will randomly and rarely announce the matches instead of the Administrator's recordings as a sort of easter egg to the comics in game.
@@Kevin-hx2ky Since they're finally putting effort into TF2, they could release a series of new "post-story" maps, which all have Pauling as the announcer. I think that would be really cool. They could have the maps all based off the comics, too, like one in the town of Teufort, one in New Zealand, one in a Mayan temple, etc.
I think the ending of the comic is very poetic in the sense of not only the story of Team Fortress, but the game as well. As much as it hurts, all books have an end- Team Fortress won't live forever, and it shouldn't. It's more like a closing to EVERYTHING than just the story, after so long of fans wanting and demanding more- almost like it's the creators themselves hinting the idea that it's all said and done. The endings always hurt the most
She did not. Saxton gives the company to 2 guys named Reddy and Bidwell and tells them to “work out the details” meaning they’re gonne fight again (atleast, that’s how i interpered it)
Not to mention that it is for commis and other enemies of America's biggest vertue: dying in the name of this great country, preferably on someone else's beach! At least, that's what Soldier told me.
I believe that the main thematic throughline of the story, from start to end, was the futility of Envy. Its been there since the introduction of Redmond and Blutarch's feud for each other's share of inheritance. And then it turned out that Elizabeth had an even more insidious and all-consuming envy. Her backstory and connection to Zepheniah is a mystery because the only relevant information is that Zepheniah was born with incredible privilege. Even among his family, he uniquely faced no struggle. He had wealth, power, and most importantly: A future, in his sons. He was assured a life with purpose and meaning. And Elizabeth wanted to take it all away. She clearly must've spent several painstaking decades planning, preparing, and executing her plan. But when it was done, she couldn't find a purpose for herself. Her only thought about the magical power of australium was to pump more life in Zepheniah just so there was still something to take from him. I think Pauling saw herself in that story. She didn't just admire The Administrator's determination, she wanted to make it her own, believing in some greater purpose. The final realization for Pauling is less "The Administrator isn't as great as I thought", its more "The Administrator was always just as hopeless as I am. But I can change".
You covering the comic gave me the same joy as reading the comic. Hope this isn't the end for you covering tf2 content. Even if work on Valve time going into the nitty gritty of the final comic and how the previous comics foreshadowed the events of the seventh comic, I know as the fans we'll eat it up and maybe watch the older vids for seconds. Just dont get burned out like you did previously. Hope you had a merry Christmas and hope you have a happy new year!
The comic does so much to not only bring closure to the main story but also makes Miss Pauling be a more compelling character then she already was! As for her reasons for being so loyal to the Administrator not being explored I think in a way that may have been intentional to show us that she was so dedicated to being loyal that she forgot the very reason why she became loyal to begin with. Like a mirror to how the Administrator forgot her whole motive on why she wanted revenge to begin with. It was to show how Pauling was letting her own dreams and ambitions consume her like the Administrator did until issue 7 where she realized where that dark urge took her boss in and see her for who she really was and put an end to it and the cycle that her boss and the Manns started a century ago. What also helped Miss Pauling was that her knowing the importance of have friends and people in her life which ultimately saved her from the Administrators fate. I also don't know if you've seen the SFM TF2 horror movie Emesis Blue yet but funny enough the movie's theme is a lot like the theme of the Administrator's when it comes to dragging out a pointless revenge driven war to the point of resorting to unnatural methods to do so which a main character like Miss Pauling put an end to the horrific cycle.
Been waiting for this! I take the story to show that VALVe is done with making new TF2 stuff, the ride is over for them (and the mercs as they have moved on). But the game itself is not over and you can still have fun with it as shown by the last scene. Keep having fun. sm
11:29 I love the one employee in the top of the background carrying a PowerHouse warpaint case. Didnt notice it until this video. In fact, I think ever breifcase is an actual warpaint case we're gotten.
I really love this last comic. It was funny, sad, serious and wholesome. Bringing up serious topics and was serious whennit needed to be, whilst maintaining the humor when it was appropriate. But more than anything; it made me, and most likely many others, feel one thing besides the amusement from the funny and the sadness that it's finally over: Closure. This last comic isn't just about the ending to the tf2 lore; It's a story about closure, and letting go. Letting go of what isn't worth holding on to, and moving on in life, as seen with the mercs, and especially Pauling and Olivia. Something we can all take a lesson from, especially me. I am a very damaged person if I say so myself, having it very hard to let go of things that have hurt me in the past, wether it be events or people, and honestly, I admit it may hold me back as a person. And because of this, I resonated with the comic the more I re-read it, especially with what engi said, who has now become more of a role-model for me as an engineering student. I and many others can take lesson from this comic and learn to let go more, and maybe become happier as people. Also thanks for letting me find The Echo soundtrack, stuff like that makes me feel at peace.
10:18 not really related to the topic at hand but my GOD seeing Octodad music here was a shock, haven't heard anything of the game since it came out years ago. I remember playing it over and over as a kid! Amazing video btw!!! Would love to hear you do this for other characters like the administrator if you wanted!!! Hope you're doing well :D
One little detail I would add is that in the Smissmas party, there are a bunch of photos taken, and in one of them Spy is seen smiling at a picture on the wall. If you go back and look carefully, he is smiling at the photo of Scout's Mom and Scout. Love the content Skymin. Doing my part for the algorithm!
Unrelated, but I had a thought on what Pauling would think of Scout after all of it is over. In the unlikely event she decides to try and come onto him... He'd probably try to let her down easy, not want another woman to leave him after having a child with them. On the off chance he accepted... That's for the fanfics to handle.
I just want to know where the heck Pyro was in that closing shot of the comic. Are they hiding? Did Scout not invite them? Are they installing anti-Santa defenses? What’re they up to?
as someone who has been playing this game for over half my life, literally so, reading that comic made me tear up, and damn near start crying. It was so well done, so communicative and so goddamn nice at the last page.
Hmm. I had interpreted the ending of where Ms. Pauling went on 7 years later as she chose a very different path, putting TF industries behind all together, and like, going off to start up her own farm where she uses some of the technologies developed to raise animals (insinuated by "Bonk" farms, implying perhaps the turkeys were fed BONK! Atomic punch to become megalarge, or something) but otherwise she distances herself from everything. She saw how pointless it all was, and something in her broke. I had the impression she wasn't innately interested in RUNNING the corporation herself, simply that for whatever initial reason she had to be inseparably loyal to the Administrator, once that was gone she saw the light and lost interest all of it, any of it.
Will the Game called Team Fortress 2 live for forever? No, perhaps not. But the World of TF2, and Everyone and Everything in it, both In-Universe and in Our World, will live on forever, for as long as we Love it as much as we do. This was a Wonderful video, for a Wonderful Game and Community.
I think a big deciding factor in Miss Pauline taking over TF Industries, if she does take over, is that she has the only remaining merc team since you know… the other’s are dead.
Me: *Reading the last TF2 comic* "Oh wow! They finally got an ending after all this time. I wonder if SkyminSlash has read it yet?" SkyminSlash: *SCREAMS IN SCOUT* Me: "So I'm leaning towards 'yes' on that one." XD
Last update: A Very Heavy Goodbye. Just give the guy his version of the Dragon's Breath (I always figured it would be a 'scaled down' howitzer), or a Fat Scout enabler. Have the game close out on TF2's representative. Still, Valve finished a story. That counts for something.
Hi, hope you read this. What I get from the admin is, she probably might have been related to Zeph. She shows up for a job that hasn’t yet been advertised, she mentions that she was going to kill his sons immediately, revealing that she already knew who he was even though she lied that she didn’t, & then she has a painting of herself above her bed in a way that signifies she’s come out on top. It’s like she always knew him. One thing I’ve also noticed is that she decorated the other gravestones & leaves Zeph’s grave unremarkable & disrespected through petal-less roses on his grave. However it wasn’t fun if he wasn’t alive to see the rest of the crap she wanted to wreak on him & his perceived ambitions in life, because he wanted a champion to emerge, he wanted that. Not her, so the admin carries all of this out.
I love how the story starts by pointing out how pointless the whole war is (two rich idiots fighting over gravel), and even after so many twists and escalations, the war is still just as pointless (the Administrator more or less beating a dead horse). It makes the mercs, Saxton, Olivia, and Miss Pauling, finding peaceful lives to be even more heartwarming. None of them carry grudges or keep fighting for hatred or revenge; they go on with their lives and put everything with Australium behind them.

Sure, she's nowhere near as ancient as Helen, but she was still heading towards a smiliar path lacking any real purpose, no starting point, no end point, just a straight, literally pointless line marching to absolute nothingness
And the best part is that she was able to see that, and in the end, choose a different path.
Since team fortress is the only group that the OG mercenaries failed killing off, doesn’t that mean they’re technically the best mercenaries to ever live.?🤨🐱
they are still the worst even if everyone else is dead, you could hire a gang of hobos and get a job done better fr
it was a miracle that miss pauling managed to kill tf classic team by managing the worst team alive
I mean, what did you expect. They have:
Maybe God's gift to humanity.
A psychopath who can endure so much pain.
Pyro
A drunk Scottish cyclops, who can produce alchohol in his own body
A strong man who won the genetic lottery
The grandson of the man, who invented an immortality machine
A doctor who managed to trick the devil
A professional crazed gunman
And a very skilled spy
Idk the whole "they're the worst team" thing is really strange. The craziest team would make more sense. I've always assumed that the mercs are insane in their own different ways but also really good at that they do. Kinda surprising that they are considered underdogs among the other mercenaries
@@deffa429 they're the worst not because they're bad, they're the worst because likely every mission they go through ends up with massive collateral damage and civilian harm, and things almost never go according to plan

I think miss paulings loyalty was simply because of the administrators personality,
Even without knowing her goal, without knowing what she truly wants, she knows the administrator is DRIVEN, she will stop at nothing to achieve that goal, and Pauling wanted to be part of that
Until she learned what the administrator truly was.
Reminds me of henchman 21 and The Monarch.
The administrator's story is a good example of how revenge can poison someone. After she got what she wanted there was nothing left in her but hatred. She couldn't move on.
Isn't this the same throughline as TLOU2?
@@rawmaw Not really, when Cuckmann's alleged 'story' had sparing the target of vengeance come back to bite them in the ass. Kino Fortress 2's story had the Administrator achieving her vengeance, and leaving her hollow. When she was brought back with Australium, she went back for even more vengeance to the point where it was an endless cycle of pain and torment for Zepheniah Mann. It was too late for the Administrator, as even in death she still claims that the trouble she went through was worth it. When Miss Pauling was presented the same choice, she chose to break the cycle.

I’d say he is the deuteragonist. He may not be the main character but he definitely ran through an entire character arc as the comic progressed
So, had to pause the video just to go read the comic. What a way to find out.
But you agree right?
That Miss Pauling deserves her own single player campaign?
@@Seasparrow_8
Iirc the Australium robots were described as a failed project of the administrator by tfc heavy?
Also, demo just destroys them all at the start of the naked and the dead.
The comics end with the mercs finding Australium wasted on stupid hobbies like the rockets, only for it to be revealed that the Administrator only wanted Australium for an equally wasteful hobby.
@ oh yeah you right. This is what happens when 7 years pass between comics
I’m glad she didn’t reveal that there was more austriliam. That administrator ran that poor girl ragged but now she can finally enjoy her life.
Soldier seemingly being a good dad was so wholesome to me for some reason. I also love how Scout really is just Jerma
I like how in the end, The Administrator's motives brought everything back to how the game all started off; no grandiose scheme or ambitions why these two people are fighting each other, it's a forever-feud fighting over literally and figuratively nothing.

She was the only one of the Administrators assistants who was able to fulfill her duties in their entirety to the end.
like, she managed to successfuly keep every merc alive from the worst team alive, successfully doing the job of takin down classics, the team that killed all the other merc teams
that's monstrous amount of respect, being able to manage even the bottom of the barrel with success
@@Thispersonisreal Not just success, but massive success
What she wanted vs what she needed
Onwards to Half Life 3, L4D3, Portal 3 as well as VAC 3.0
It will Only take 30 years !
Ayy, best Sly Cooper villain recognition
The fact that they released the final comic and it had a great ending, not only for the comic series but for the franchise altogether is honestly the best Christmas gift I could've gotten this year.
Nuts thinking TF2’s lore really is over. Such a strong ending.
The final comic was soooo worth the 7 years! Also, I really love Ms. Pauling's first name, Flo suits her quite well :D
It just occurred to me, Flo describes her personality (at least going into the comics) perfectly
Would you say it was... worth the weight?
It’s so fucking powerful that she decides that continuing whatever fucking meat grinder the administrator was perpetuating wasn’t worth it and chose to put a stop to the madness and the bloodshed that the australium was the sole cause for. It made me tear up.
The comic also implies the Zepheniah Mann ghost in the halloween maps is either him during his "resting" period or the Administrator setting up holograms and illusions to mess with both brothers and their mercs
or that she was torturing a soulless corpse
That pauling cosplay looks so cute
Lived up to the hype. Beautifully put!
The comics may have ended, but the game hasn't. While there's a theme of embracing change and looking forward to the future, why not change TOGETHER? And hold onto the things we love and cherish even after so long. While we change, TF2 will change, and we'll be right at each other's sides no matter what.
The 7th comic made me like her more than i previously liked her, same can be applied to scout and spy
I feel like something cool that Valve could do in a next major update if one ever comes out, is make it so that Miss Pauling will randomly and rarely announce the matches instead of the Administrator's recordings as a sort of easter egg to the comics in game.
It wouldn't fit the timeline though. Maybe if there was a map that occurred after Gray Mann was defeated
"No contracts for you❤"

I think the ending of the comic is very poetic in the sense of not only the story of Team Fortress, but the game as well. As much as it hurts, all books have an end- Team Fortress won't live forever, and it shouldn't. It's more like a closing to EVERYTHING than just the story, after so long of fans wanting and demanding more- almost like it's the creators themselves hinting the idea that it's all said and done.
The endings always hurt the most
The comic made me tear up and I loved it I'm happy with the story ending here but I never want the game to go away.
0:47 IT'S PIKACHU!

Plot twist: this is the real miss Pauling talking about how great she is
I believe that the main thematic throughline of the story, from start to end, was the futility of Envy.
The final comic panel literally confirms that the real Team Fortress 2 was the friends we made along the way and that's swell
the real immortality is our love
I personally subscribe to the theory that Pauling has a similar relationship to the admin as Smithers has to Mr. Burns: a one sided crush
I just realised that the administrator is sort of like the woman from tangled
You covering the comic gave me the same joy as reading the comic. Hope this isn't the end for you covering tf2 content. One thing I hope Miss Pauling did when she took over was to remind everyone now working for her exactly who she was/is.
a bread exploder!
Girl you are absolute rocking that Pailing Cosplay!

I really love this last comic.
It was funny, sad, serious and wholesome. Bringing up serious topics and was serious whennit needed to be, whilst maintaining the humor when it was appropriate.
But more than anything; it made me, and most likely many others, feel one thing besides the amusement from the funny and the sadness that it's finally over:
Closure.
This last comic isn't just about the ending to the tf2 lore;
It's a story about closure, and letting go.

Pauling has better design than all Overwatch characters combined. Mind as well toss in Concord for extra bonus.
I just want to know where the heck Pyro was in that closing shot of the comic. Are they hiding? Did Scout not invite them? Are they installing anti-Santa defenses? What’re they up to?

The thought of Pauling being the real main character is kinda hilarious.

Her final panel is left to so many interpretations that it left me wanting more

May I recommend The Beard RUclipsr channel. They have a really good dub of comic 1 through 6.
