The game features a mysterious island with strange creatures called Lumas, which can be found and hatched to create companions. Aside from collecting Luma, you’ll build a homestead and choose from several professions. Find your Luma eggs after overcoming the challenges of the temples. There’s a lot more to Luma Island than what you find on the surface, so bring your explorer’s hat and be prepared to go deeper!
There is currently a 24/7 shiny hunting bot (channel 40cakes) doing a shiny living dex professor oak challenge right now for Pokemon emerald. It took 1.5 years to get two 1% shiny seedots.
Johnstone did it. Took him LITERAL YEARS... And because the catch combo rate increase was incorrectly understood at that time, the VAST majority of those shinies were FULL ODDS, not to mention the PHASES.
Candy is just a tiny bit broken in this game... I did have fun with my jacked up Caterpie taking on most of the early trainers, after grinding 200 Caterpie candy for it, giving it 200+ in every stat before i even left Viridian forest!
Ahh, didn't expect to be jumpscared by me within the first 15 seconds, but super sick to see you do this in Let's Go! I remember seeing eddaket jump on it for a bit a while back but this one is a legit category that I'm always happy to see be enjoyed by folks.
@@ChaoticMeatballTV I kinda REALLY wanna improve this at some point, but I'm happy to have at least experienced it for now. 😂 Out of curiosity, which non Kanto Oak Challenge do you think would be the most "speedrunable" in your opinion? 🤔
@@PulseEffects In my eyes, I'd have to throw the vote to ORAS. Gives you the EXP Share before Roxanne, is still a game without EXP curving (so high levelled Pokemon still gain full EXP), limits the number of Stone evolutions you have to grind Super Training for, and Dexnav chains open the possibility of catching Pokemon at higher levels than usual.
@@PulseEffects 100% it's Ruby and Sapphire. Pickup works differently since you don't have to gain levels to unlock Rare Candies on the pickup table, though that requires either a boatload of "hope you get lucky" or "basically just make a TAS and do it with your own hands". Either way, it's still one of the shortest.
33:14 Helix represents anarchy, Dome represents Order. You got it the wrong way around here. Very interesting video overall though, I love niche speedrun content!
A Prof Oak's challenge is...well, like you said, not great for speedrunning. But it was fun to watch nonetheless! With better RNG an a more refined route you could probably beat that time pretty easily
I tried something similar in Pokemon Y! In Pokemon Y, you get 3 different Pokedexes, and my goal was to fill out as much of a Pokedex as I could before I got the next one. Thank goodness for the Battle Chateau, and the NPCs who have 3 level 45 Audinos!
What a massive effort. I would have liked to hear your thoughts on what could be improved, if you a actually are attempting a follow-up run, how much faster do you think it could be done (I suppose it’s a range, given RNG factors)
@@BluishGreenPro not using Kabutops is definitely a big optimization. 😂 Other than that, there's a lot of extra little things I've picked up from grinding Catch Em All Speedruns! I will stream one fairly soon just to test it. 👀
21:33 Umm, question: Wouldn't you need to delay fighting Misty in a Professor Oak Challenge till after you have caught and evolved all available Pokemon surrounding Vermilion City as well (so, the Pokemon from Routes 6 and 11 and those that appear in the Digglet Cave)? After all, to have access to Vermilion all you need to do is meet Bill, so Misty can belayed as much as possible.
Not a fan of the rule that they must be fully evolved before the same gym. I think it would make sense that they must all be the level cap of the gym leader, requiring they are fully evolved at a more appropriate time.
This makes me want to do any% no ACE oak challenge in some of the older games. Idk what the routing would look like but I’m sure there’s at least one or two games (apart from RBY of course lol) that can achieve some meaningful glitches before the first gym
Wait, isn't it possible to get to cinnabar before you even beat Misty? Been too long since I played, but I vaguely remember being able to get Blaine's badge second... could be wrong. But, if that is the case, then you'd have to do everything in phase 3 at phase 2.
If Badges aren't needed to use HMs, then yes, you are right. After all, the cop that blocks your path moves away after you talk with Bill, not after beating Misty.
I feel that limiting levels to the gym leader's highest level would make Prof. Oak challenges more interesting. The first gym hump really takes away all momentum.
I mean the lets go games are by far the easiest ones to do a POC on, with the majority of casual runners doing it in somewhere between 10-15 hours. All the other games have awful PB1 for some reason or another

I had to try this game for myself, and I am not disappointed! It's a lot of fun and I can absolutely recommend it to those who aren't quite sure yet.
its just a generic pokemon clone XD
This seems like the second worst thing to do in Let's Go. The first is doing a shiny professor oaks's challenge. Someone should combine these.
I think Johnstone did in Pokémon let’s go

Oh god please no 😭

You'll always be my OG Professor Oak and virgin

Pulse just invented a speedrun category and solidified himself as the record holder because no one else is masochistic enough to attempt it

Crossing out Kabutops from my notes as we speak. 😡

The bulbasaur roulette made me spit out my drink 😅. Great video and editing!
Yes, do ultra moon :3
Ultra Moon??? 😭😭😭
I've done a Professor Oak of Ultra Sun. That is a speedrun that would run as long as 100% Baten Kaitos.
@@PulseEffectsOH YES GEN 7 GOAT

Beating Misty is the only way to access Vermillion. Officer Jenny blocks you from exiting the town until then.
@@PulseEffects That must have been changed, then. Because, even in FR/LG, Misty could be delayed till after obtaining Cut.
Funny enough to see Clefairy as The Reaper of the Bailey
More long videos 😎
Its wild how much faster it is to do this in lets go compared to the base games. It took me over 30 hours to get to brock in red lol
Great video mate 💪🏻
Wow I didn't realize unevolved mons get an exp boost, no wonder those monotype nuzlockes I did had some issues
Would love to see another one of these!
18:19 IT’S PIKACHU
is that celeste hotel music I'm hearing in the background? It's one of my favorite games!!! It starts at around 2:10
Is there a VOD / full recording of this somewhere?

I know you told me to say no, but imagine: Legends Arceus Prof. Oak speedrun.
When you say Chansey chain, rare spawns don't get on catch chains. Also getting snek on 4 is better when grabbing Squirtle cause higher level
Theres a slight spike in volume as you switch from narration to the gameplay clips but otherwise great video
my man explains more than he shows gameplay
What Pokémon tracker do you use?
you look like a baby Thor (the content creator[thats a good thing])
Slowpoke to the Rescue
Lickitung is postgame? That's weird.
Now do a shiny only POak challenge
In HGSS

isnt the catch rate only affected by p1 pokeball and thus throwing 2 gerat balls = 1 great 1 pokeball
It was discovered semi recently that 2 Greats actually improves catch rate. Same for 2 Ultra or 1 Great, 1 Ultra!
@@PulseEffects huh. wasnt aware of that. good to know. i havent actively touched lets go since it came out basically.
YES

But that goes against everything the Prof Oak challenge is about
The grind is the point
Stop with the mini commercials.🙅
