I mean that the Technik Museum in Berlin is located in the former Hamburger Bahnhof, not the Anhalter Bahnhof.

In the former Hamburger Bahnhof the old "Verkehrs- und Baumuseum" was located what opened around 1901 and was focused on railways and traffic construction ... most of the exhibits are now shown in the Technikmuseum.
The Hamburger Bahnhof was a lost place in the period from 1945 and 1989 because it was underadministration of the 8east german ) Reichsbahn but situated in West Berlin ....no access possible... exhibits safely sleeping under supervision .....now saved...
The Technikmuseum is created after the war to gather the damaged and more or less disappeared collections of all kind and to give them a new home....Berlin/Germany was full of extrordinary (technical-educational) collections....

That was the "Verkehrs- und Baumuseum" until 1990
