This is 80's music. New Edition were it back then, they paved the way for other boy bands.
Amen! They were/are the template.
Did Xander U Betta Believe It Shoot And Our Fans Always Considered Us To Be The Westcoast New Edition And Everybody Calls Me The Westcoast Johnny Gill...One Love Fam...
@@johnharreld6580 one love!!
@@juderayalmario2549 Jackson 5.
@@claricelyles8398 No doubt! But The Jackson 5 never quite infused that hip-hop touch that New Edition did. It's NE's blend of the r&b groups that preceded them mixed with the then newly-emerging hip-hop that is present amongst many of the boy bands.
To me, New Edition was the most influential RnB group from the 80s and 90s. Loved all their music. Their solo acts were the best. Belle Biv Devoe set the 90s trends. Johnny Gill had a voice as smooth as silk. Bobby Brown was gone by this time but you can't argue his early success. Boyz II Men were discovered by Michael Bivins.
This is straight 80's (88). They were ahead of their time!
No, they were right on time for us old folks.
@@gunklejay 😂
Not really strictly 80s. 87/88 - 91/92 era. 1982 sounds nothing like this.
Heartbreak is one of the greatest albums ever made.
Truth
But Home Again gives it a run for it's money.
@@michelleallison3508 home again is great, but in my opinion, heartbreak is better
FACTS!
Facts
New Edition is from the 80's not the 90's. Boyz II Men was from the 90's and was discovered by Micheal Bivins who is a member of New Edition.
Don’t forget about Bell Biv DeVoe, that included Ronnie, Ricky, and Michael who were big in the early 90s.
New Edition started late 70's
@@Mr88karats Yes, they became a group in 1978 but they release music to the world in the early 80's.
They are our generation's Temptations!
Yessss exactly 😉
Facts!
@David Brenny Obviously several things are wrong going by your ridiculous comment. 1. Check your hearing if you think this group is anyway near monotone. Seriously I recommend a hearing aid or wax removal. 2. You must learn the definition of a BOY BAND! Technically they are a boy group since they don't play their own instruments, would have agreed on that correct if you had thought of it. The people you listed are INDIVIDUAL singers and not in the same category for comparisons. Brittany and Justin are laughable. 3. You know nothing of this group, there history, nor what they mean to Gen X. You got so, so, so, many things wrong in one sentence 🤔.
We got Bobby Brown’s solo career and Bell Biv DeVoe from this group as well 🎶♥️
Yup just go down that rabbit hole lol
Johnny Gill and Ralph Transvant
@@bigm8785 Definitely! Michael Bivins I think ended up being a producer 😎 amazing people came from that group! We can’t forget Johnny Gill’s Rub You The Right Way and My, My, My!
And Ralph Treasvant had a solo career and some hits too.
Johnny Gill. My my my. ❤️🎵
I'm 17 and I started listening to new edition after hearing candy girl on the radio🙏. They got the best songs 😂
Everyone in the 80’s danced including rappers. Now everyone is “too cool” to dance.
Gotta thank MC Hammer for Dancing rappers & Heavy D.
@@ronjackson657 Kane was a good dancer too
No in the 80's rappers didn't dance. Rare exceptions. They had background dancers who killed it. But only a handful of rappers actually danced back then. More like 3.
Yes…Hammer, Heavy D and even Kane come to mind but also Kid n Play, Salt n Pepa and Doug E Fresh. Many others made highly danceable music.
It is and will always be THE JAM! Other boy bands wanted to be them!
facts
"Hit Me Off" is another great New Edition song.
Agreed! Supernatural, from the Ghostbusters 2 Soundtrack, is another underrated New Edition song.
New Edition broke into some amazing Solo Acts... Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown was an earlier member, and The other 3 spawned into Bel Biv Devo and they founded Boys to men.
The 80's had the BEST dance moves. It was fun and there was no twerking, but just REAL dancing. Check out Kool and the Gang with the song "Fresh", also from the 80's.
There's always been twerking, but considered dirty dancing so you wouldn't really see that in a lot of videos. So people were twerking but in clubs, at bbq, ’s.
@@Msboochie2 The "twerking" you are talking about, from the past, was not where you bend down as you face the floor and jiggle your behind as hard as you can. GIVE ME A BREAK.
80s and early mid 90s
Bro, surely you know that this is the group that Bobby Brown started out in. Check out Bobby Brown's "Every Little Step" "Don't Be Cruel" "Humpin' around" or "My Prerogative" They all have that same great 80's sound that you're hearing now.
its more of that 90s new jack swing
Everyone sleeps on Johnny Gill... his self-titled album os probably top5 album from New Jack Swing era
definitely 'every little step'.
@@alus992 Johnny Gs MyMyMy.... Oooh that was the love making music.
Bobby Browns ; TENDER RONI! ❤
You need to watch "The New Edition Story" movie
Honey, baby...New Edition came out in the early 80's as mannish little boys. This is from 1988, when they were in their early 20's. Every guy group you know about followed the path left by these guys. Enjoy your discovery.
FACTS!!!
not every guy group
@@snow_4336 I didn't say every guy group. I said every guy group HE knew about.
@@marneebragg9839 Jackson 5
@@FreeMTrider it's like people are ignoring what I wrote. In the video he said the only group he knew was Boyz II Men. I wrote about groups that came after.
You should check out Hi-five "shes playing hard to get" "kissing game" "quality time" "never should have let u go"...another 90s group
He's wearing stirrup pants. I loved those!
Me 2
He is wearing what dancers wore
New Edition was the 80's version of The Jackson 5 from Candy Girl to Can You Stand The Rain.
I was in high school when Heart Break was released in the Fall of 1988 and If It Isn't Love was the first track from the album.
There was a series of videos that told a story with If It Isn't Love, You're Not My Kind Of Girl and Can You Stand The Rain.
Of course Bobby Brown released his Don't Be Cruel album in the Fall/Winter of 1988 as well.
In 1989 there was a tour featuring New Edition as the headliner with Bobby Brown and Al B. Sure.
The Heart Break album still going strong, 32 years later👍
This is the 80's, and the 80's had the best love 🎵 songs.
best love songs, pop songs, rock songs
React to "Tender Love" force MDs if you like 80's love music....this is the ultimate ❤
You’re not my kind of girl by New Edition is part 2 of this video and has excellent dancing. If you want to see Boyz 2 men dance then you should check out Motownphilly.
I listen to rock music but love motownphilly
New Edition would be bigger now than they were then.
And they were pretty damn big then in a golden age of pop music.
The voices, the rhythms, the dance moves... how I miss the 80s 😍
Man it's so refreshing to see a young cat appreciate music from my era... I'm telling on myself but aye... I'm proud of it LOL!!! Kudos to you!
My mom would play this music when I was baby. I grew up listening to both new edition and boys 2 men. This was my high school music
Troop is another group that danced in the late 80s. My Heart, and Spread My Wings. The best performance is when they were on the Arsenio Hall show. Boyz ll Men danced in the MotownPhilly video.
Can't leave out "Mamacita"!!!
N.E heartbreak.
Start to finish one of my favorite albums.
Can you stand the rain.?
"Cool it Now" is the most famous song by them back when the leaders voice was higher ☝🏽
Candy girl
True, but their most slept on song is kinda girls we like!
This was, this is and this will always be my jam
Go down that rabbit hole with all the solo careers and BBD
Man, they were sooo smooth!
This was late 80’s. I am almost positive 87-88. You should check out their song “Lost in Love”. Or even earlier, “Mr. Telephone Man.”
Yup this was 87-88, not 90's.
I hope you do Keith Sweat soon💜 I don't think anyone has done him yet and hes no artist that people should be sleeping on.
I read Keith Sweat and immediately started moving and singing “I got what ya need right here baby” ☺️
You might be right. I haven't seen any reactions to him. That would be great.
Nobody!
Indeed!!!!
Right and wrong way . I don't think he is ready. That catalog is dangerous.
Greatest group ever!! This is my favorite song from them..
No lie the 90's and the 80's had THE BEST LOVE SONG EVER!
The Seahawks did part of the dance as an end zone celebration a couple years ago. I loved it. ❤️
Yes! It was badass! Love the Seahawks!
ruclips.net/video/mrKHdJ-Qa_M/видео.html
80s r and b at its best..ive seen them live..still amazing
The 80’s was all about choreography and costumes! 🥰🎶❤️
I was 6 yrs old when this jam came out and my older brother played this everrrrry day! Still the best!
As a child during the 80's I got to hear New Edition and New Kids On The Block which was also discovered and formed by Maurice Starr
Bro...PLEASE react to Troop "Spread my wings" still one of my favorite songs til this day..
I was actually at the Boston Music Hall Of Fame Awards a few wks ago. They did a tribute to artists who died. Brad Delp's adult children were there. I ended up being out front on the sidewalk while we all waited for our rides. We all got talking and I was able to tell them how much this song and all of Boston meant to me. Felt great!
You should try their early 80s songs like "Cool it now" "Mr Telephone Man" and "Popcorn love" - get to see them as young boys and when bobby brown was part of the group. They were meant to be a modern day jackson 5 if I recall correctly
Motown Founder Berry Gordy called the Jackson 5 a "New Edition" of Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. Brooke Payne, the choreographer, remembered this and named the group New Edition.
Count me out, jealous girl, did you git it yet, candy girl, and earth angels
New Edition has a boat load of music. And it started with Candy Girl 1981
Actually they recorded candy girl in 1981 but it wasn't released until 1982 / 83
@@andrewstaples8677 i remember because in 83 I went in the Army and it was a hit
I am so happy you're back. I'm actually watching you on my phone in the ER. So thanks for cheering me up. Keep the great '80s music coming. you always bring a smile to my face and make my days so much better. Keep up the great work. Remember you're only human and you only can do what you can do. You have to take care of yourself because if you don't you won't be strong enough to take care of anyone else. Took me 45 years of my 51 years now to learn that.
Loved this song when it was out. Used to try to learn the dance but I am not all that coordinated
This was 88... they were close to done by the 90s
This song takes me back to my childhood room dancing to this song❤️
Now you know where The New Kids On The Black, Backstreet Boyz, NSYNC, every English boy band and every Asian boy band got their influence.
young man I'm glad you are finding this. The 80s and early 90s was the ish. You facial expressions and verbal expressions are spot on
This was the group back in the day!! Loved them!!!
The kings of choreography!!!
This is one of my favorite New Edition songs/videos! This song was released in 1988! ❤️❤️
This was the 80’s friend... some of the best music ever! 🤘😎🔥
New Edition's "Still In Love"
This was my jam back in the 5th grade 😂 I had a crush on Ralph (the one singing the lead in this one)
Reminds me of summer and going to the carnival 🎡 in my hometown so many great memories for me with this song
Love your reaction
Yes we did have the best songs n groups in the 90's
Man that was the Jams back then.
New Edition, even when they all broke up.
I wish we still had this type of music 🎶
Great video reaction!!!
This song brings back memories. This song was dropped around 1988. It's easy to lump this group in with artists from the 90s but, this is an 80s group. New Edition came out around 1982 or 1983. This group hit the scene the same time as Madonna, RunDmc, Whodini, LL Cool J, Fat Boys, Deniece Williams and a whole host of great artists.
Everybody around my neighborhood thought that the song "Candy Girl" was a lost hit song made by the Jackson 5. Until we saw their video. LOL!!!!
You should do "Can You Stand the Rain" and "I'm Still In Love With You" by New Edition. ❤❤❤
The 60s, 70s, and 80s had the 90ss love songs whipped easily. New Edition is actually an 80s group dude.
I miss the New Jack Swing sound.
Twan I love that you love the video. ..Yes the 90s had amazing music and artists!
💚L E G E N D S💚
I saw then in concert when I was 12. They were amazing at staying in harmony when they were at very different locations on stage.
70's and80's had the best love songs, and then the 90's!
Seen them in concert twice. Once before BB left. The second time BB joined them with JG. All of them amazing. New Jack swing kings Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill😎💕
We Always Say That If It Haddon Been For The Temptations The Jacksons And New Edition Then It Wouldn't Be No Troop Fam Fa'Life One Love Fa'Sho...
That thing that you can't explain about the 90s is called New Jack Swing...its where hip hop and R&B intersect. Things ain't been the same since 🙌🏾
We have Mr Brooke Payne to thank for those slick moves. Uncle of Ronnie (one of the remembers) and their manager and founder. He’s also in this video speaking to them in the beginning. That man made the blueprint for the dance style in new Jack swing groups. He’s a legend.
U definitely gotta check out their "Still in Love" 💯 my all time favorite by them....
Please react to their song BOYS TO MEN!
70s had some serious love songs too. Shoots, the 60s was bangin with love songs.
Yesss! Glad you are doing a reaction to My generation! New Edition paved the way for a lot of the boy band's who came after them, including Boyz ll Men #80sforlife 💕💯
In the movie series, the boys performed this same practice session. It was such a dope reenactment. The movies are on RUclips now so watching it will be a great history lesson.
My older sister was obsessed with New Edition back in the day and went to every concert they had nearby. Great reaction!
I was OBSESSED with them in high school.
Great song! Great group! First boy band I ever listened to growing up. I still remember watching the video for “Cool It Now” as a little girl. You can go down. Rabbit hole with this group’s music as well as the solo careers and Bell Bic Devoe.
One of my faves when we cruised on Saturday nights. This music moves your soul. Loved seeing them on Soul Train. And I watched that... Solid Gold... Any good music was up my alley. Going dancing was the highlight of my weekends.
This is updated doo-wop with the 80s/90s sparkle production added and it was such an iconic sound
If you loved New Edition, and Boys 2 Men , then you'll love Troop. If you do nothing more than just 2 selections from them then do the videos for "My Heart" (my favorite), and "Spread my wings). The word BAD doesn't describe how tight their synchronized dancing and amazing soul R&B range is incredible too. Trust me.
This was my group growing up in the 80’s but 🗣 YOU ARE RIGHT!!! 90’s Ruled!! 🥴
You'd be surprised at how great the boy bands were of the '80s and '90s. I love new edition! This is from about probably 88 right after I graduated high school. Then you got New kids on the block. Then you got to check out of course some Nsync and Backstreet Boys. Those were the boy bands that were the best in my opinion. My son was about 7 years old and had every Backstreet Boys name memorized and had their posters on his wall. He loves me for me to remind him now that he's 27. Lol! Great to have you back my dear! I needed to see your smile and see the enjoyment you have for good music. I hope everything goes well you are in my prayers!
There’s No one greater. I love your facial expressions when you hear music. Keep enjoying music, I do and have for many years.
This was released in 1988. They 1980's, early 90's the went solo and got back together for an album or 2 in the late 90's early 2000's.
If you wanna see how hard the groups were singing and danced live. Check out a group named Troop singing I'm not souped on the Arsenio Hill show. Those brothas was putting in work!
Dude, you gotta do All I Do Is Think Of You by Troop!
Missed you, bro! But I'm hearing 80's! Used to love their vibe!
My favorite as a teenager. Love me some New Edition
Please react to "You're Not My Kind of Girl", "Hit Me Off", Hot Tonite". BBD is a part of New Edition so you'll enjoy "Poison". Another group you should check out is Troop. Man it's so much great music from the 80s & 90s.
You should check out "Candy Girl" their one of their first songs!!
You should check out Cool It Now. Another great New Edition song.
1987-1988 is when this dropped....it was huge!!!
Since you like 90's groups, YOU MUST check out Merry Go "Round, Groove Me, Teddy's Jam 1,2 & 3, Wanna Get With U, Do Me Right ft. Heavy D, Dancin', Spend The Night, My Fantasy, Let's Chill, D-O-G Me Out, I Like, Don't Clap Just Dance, Piece of My Love and Yearning For Your Love.
Troop! If you haven't witness this boy band sing and dance, you haven't lived.
New Edition came out in 1983. First single out was called Jealous Girl.
Some other fast tempo N.E. songs: "You're Not My Kind of Girl", "N.E. Heart Break", "Hit Me Off", "My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?)", "Mr. Telephone Man", "Cool It Now". All the members of New Edition had other projects, too. Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown, and BBD.
That's true man! 80s and 90s always had some love or sad lyrics to an upbeat mid tempo or dance tempo beat....like do I dance or cry lol
This video inspired Beyonce's "Love on top" video
The thing about NE is that in Nigeria in the good old days everybody knew the wordings to their songs than even our national song. No lie. The most famous of all was candy girl
