The first song The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was ever seen dancing to on the show after the intro. I think he’s dancing in front of a mirror. He was the coolest guy alive in the 90s. I’m starting to think there are magic powers in the melanin. I’m a white dude from Canada, so I know nothing about that. I just know I’m tired of being lame.
I remember that episode! He was actually dancing in his him while stapling a poster of Malcom X onto the wall. Every time I hear the song, it reminds me of that moment in the episode.
I was in my 20's when this came out and it blew my mind. What many people don't appreciate or understand is that it is this song alone that opened the door from soul to RnB.
This was THE BEST REACTION that I've seen to this song. 😂 It reminds me of the first time I heard this song back in the day on the radio... I was like who was that?!! It surely wasn't like it is now, where you can pull out your phone search and play we had to wait until the radio disc jockey played the song again. Then to my surprise and a whole lot of others here in the U.S. finding out they are from the U.K.🤩🤯!!
This came out around 1987/88, they essentially broke new ground in the UK and this song (and a few other artists at the time) created music that would be known as House. Uk was 1-2 years ahead of the US in creating this music. It all stemmed from underground illegal rave culture that was fairly unique to the UK.
They helped epitomize The British R & B Sound in the 1980's that was overlooked by Duran Duran, Wham, Culture Club, Madness, The Police, And Bananrama. One of the Daughters of one of the former Members is Alexandra Burke who auditioned and after three tries Won The X Factor in The UK. The Runner Up was JLS who became a successful R & B Group in their own right. Other R & B British Acts were Joyce Sims, Loose Ends, Musical Youth, Des'ree, and Billy Ocean. This was the Jam back in the day. The Fellow in The Group, was on a UK Documentary called "Back To Ours" where a Black Family with ties to Jamaica saw how Blacks lived in England from the 1960's to The present. They had an 1980's Party and he showed up.
If your old like me and from london then the parties they did at the africa centre on Tottenham Court Road are legendary big up to everyone who was there and remembers🥳
This song is a classic Always when a radio station plays an oldie they play this Also this hip gets played on stations where you would never hear this type of music genre
I remember this coming out in 1989 here in the UK along with Keep On Moving. It was so fresh and innovative it made a huge impression. The album Club Classics Vol 1 that came out in 1989 is just great.
That got Us on tha Floor, when We Really Used to Dance and Party. Black Pride Strong Tha 90's was the Shit Yungins' Shout to our U.K.Folks.The Lyrics Blazed Us.All Races Rockin as One
@cam420 lol so did I....I remember one night in particular I went to the club with my friend Salita, we were all dressed up head to toe, black biker shorts, black mini skirt over it black sheer top and huge colorful earrings, glow in the dark socks and hair crazy high wearing poison perfume lol. I walked in heard the beat drop for this song and was like " Let me show these people how to dance LMAO. Next thing you know me and Salita had a crowd around us yelling go go go go as we did our dance routine to it Man great times, different world. Sure you have a dance memory of this song too!
I purchased this on CD back in the day with the extra extended club remix on it & literally played in on repeat at MAXIMUM volume! Gosh, I miss the 90's!
Song's from 1989. That year, this British band had this hit and one other in the US, "Keep On Moving," which you'd probably also like. They had a few more hits in the UK into the early nineties.
Man their catalogue is crazy!!! They have their own unique sound!!! They are from London, England!!! They are one of the pioneers of neo soul, with a combination of reggae rock, r&b, and hip hop!!! I would love for you to react to their songs like “Keep on movin”, “I care” “Love Enuff” “Feeling” “Take me higher” “Holdin On” “Joy” especially the ACAPELLA version of the song you just reacted to!!!
30 years ago, we used to set the dance floor ON FIRE with DJ mixes of this jam!!! I'm 57 years old and I wouldn't trade the years of my youth for ANYTHING happening with the young people of today. I'm sorry y'all missed out..... :-)
This song is about when Caron the singer died and came back to life after flatlining. She was not happy about being brought back and questioned God hence the birth of this song .
Even as a British rock fan i couldn't resist buying this album when it came out... IT WAS THAT GOOD!!! I also bought Brother Sister, by the Brand New Heavies around the same time, for the same reason. Check out their version of 'Midnight At The Oasis'.
This song slaps, has since it came out when I was in high school in 1989. It was played at every dance, every wedding, every club, every basketball warm-up, EVERYWHERE. It’s so good 🙌🏼💜
yeah they are from london uk, i think the reason its such a banger and still today sounds so clean is they only used studio samples unlike alotof the urban music of the time that were using vinyl sampling. also i guess growing up listening to soundsystems the bass had to be clean and not clash with the beat. fun fact i go past where they filmed the video in forest, every day walking my dog.
Oh brings me back to high school dances. Forgot about this gem, I'll add it to my play list. Thank you for reviewing this song. The band Max-A-Million too dancing in the clubs 💕💕💕
OMG!!!! you reacing to this one....One of my favs as a late teenager.. used to love dancing to this in the club cos of the volume achieved there compared to having to dance to it at home ! lol whoever this one person is tht thumbed this down has terrible hearing.
holy crap, this took me back to going to Shakey's bar on saturday nights after finishing working in my small hometown grocery store. Painting our cheeks with eye shadow streaks and wearing banana clips and jackets with giant shoulder pads. my lord!
I remember so well : end of the 80s, annoucing new jack and all that 90s RNB sound. Jazzy B (the big dude with sunglasses and fancy haircut still running a wonderful podcast nowadays : it's like opening the 40 thieves treasure cave)
If you like this version of the song, check out the "Back To Life" a cappella. Also, check out a movie called "Belly" w/ Nas and DMX, they play the a cappella in the intro of the movie with the opening credits. This was one of my fav. back in the day and it still hits today!!

Absolutely loved them 💞. Always listened to this song when I needed cheering up when I was a late teen, and yes, I would always dance to it. Got all those good endorphins going. Great reaction! Their 'Keep on moving' is also off the chain. It was my motivational song!

@@azurephoenix9546 Absolutely. And my dad was so strict/abusive, I hardly watched TV in the 90s unless I was sneaking around.

Their song, Keep On Movin is just as good!
That was shit about re-download
Omg, I hope he does it!
Sure was
Imo, this song was MUCH better than Keep On Movin'. Just the instrumentals and vocals on this song just puts it head and shoulders above "Movin'".

This song has only ONE purpose and that is to dance to. I’m glad you did that😊
Caron Wheeler, wow, what a voice!!
One of the Greatest all time hits. 🔥
