I always thought that the Trial of the Sword was in the Master Sword or even weirder, Fi's mind. A guy made an interesting theory that fits in with yours in a way, the reason why the Master Sword isn't fully powered is because the master sword still has some of Demise's left-overs on it, so it's not fully powered and therefore Fi is weak, only having been able to talk to Zelda in a final attempt to save Link, but only those moments because she was absolutely needed
That does sound really interesting! :o I mean looking at it now a few months later, it does seem plausible that could be what happened in BOTW. Now I'm looking forward of her being mentioned in BOTW2 even more!! :D

To be fair, one is a cool theory, the other is a silly question: how many tree branches to kill Ganon? Lol with that said, I'm on my way over there to watch NBC's video now 😂
This blew my mind especially the part where the monks do the same poses, never noticed that. I'm pretty sure this is an unconfirmed truth regarding the lore behind the sacred realm Very well done my friend and as always I look forward to your next video. (:
By the end of the video, you realize that it's an explanation, not a theory. I don't think anyone can dispute what you found, it all makes too much sense and connects way too well. Great video, keep em coming!!
Which part? The number of monks and hand symbols are true... But that's kind of where it stops. There are countless references or abstractions of previous games, I'm not sure what it proves. I mean it's awesome don't get me wrong, I just don't see how the conclusion can then be drawn past that. I mean we can speculate, but that's not even a theory, it's a thought based on similarities to something else. Not evidence of anything. The sacred realm is so non descript anyway that I guess you could make the claim that you're in it a bunch of different times. I just don't see the significance. And I'm not tying to disagree, I'm trying to rationalize this idea more cause I like it.
Another similarity: the sound. When you're in the silent realm in SS theres only the silent music, which, again, represents the silence really well, until the timer runs out and the guardians attack you. And in the Master trials in BotW there's no music, until enemies spot or approach you, then the standard fighting theme starts again.
I’d love to see the Sages return in Breath of the Wild’s Sequal. Seeing maybe Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa, Revali, King Rhoam, Hestu, and Impa be the Sages would be cool! They could possibly go for a theme of only those who have died become Sages, which means we might lose Hestu and Impa. This game is supposed to be darker then Majora, sooo...
yknow, most of this video (to me, at least) is in that 'grey area' of theories, where "yeah, this makes sense, and theres nothing in the games saying its NOT true", because its all being held together loosely enough to allow the wiggle-room that good theories need...but the part that has me tripping the most balls is the Seven Monks mimicking the hand-signs of the "Six +1" Sages (with Zelda herself fitting into that 7th slot)...no wonder Nintendo took their sweet time making this game-- it needed all the time it could to marinate in the creative juices, to soak in every speck of seasoning thrown into it...if the other games only had bits of yarn tying two parts together, BotW was a massive golden spike driven through each and every one of them...from LonLon Ranch Ruins to Mabe Village, BotW has a reference to just about every other Zelda game (minus perhaps the CD-i games, unless im forgetting a 'Gamelon River' or a 'Tolemac Ridge' or something)...i love how i can still find new tidbits of trivia, or an extra easter egg, in a game that ive owned for almost Two Years now (got my Switch for Christmas'17; beat Ganon about a week into January'18 xD)... ...its almost like Nintendo tried to put as much thought into their "Legendary" series, as Zeltik puts into his videos unravelling them xD
I chocked the Monks' explanation of the Trials up to a way to de-canonize it, so the encounters in the Trials didn't hold any weight in actual Zelda lore. Leave it to Zeltic to flip that on its head and circumvent my thoughtless disregard and definitely link them to the Sacred Realm. You truly are the Hero of Theory, my friend.
You really have something special here my friend. Your videos are beginning to transcend the simplicity of RUclips. You are a fantastic story teller. This video..... with how you prove and disprove various game references/notions is exemplary. Nintendo..... I hope you are watching this guy. He is ready for the next step.
I've thought about this before, my interpretation is that all of this is happening in Link's head. It doesn't make sense for the Shiekah Monks to be able to power up the Master Sword, so when Link gets that first message to return to the Korok Forest from the Sword Monk, it's really the Master Sword/Fi telling it's wielder that undergoing a trial will lead to more power, and since all of Link's trials and challenges have been the creation of Shiekah Monks, his mind envisions this mind trial as one from a monk. When he places the sword in the pedestal and teleports away, he's actually just holding the Master Sword at the pedestal just like in Ocarina of Time, but believes that he's teleporting as he's done countless times thus far. I'm not sure if he returns in an instant or in a few hours. All of the trial is "illusory" and based off of his memories, which explains why there aren't any foreign enemies, weapons, or environments. All of this is a giant mindfuck by the Master Sword, and it just looks this way for this Link. Another Link with different experiences may see it differently. It also explains why the trial's creator is Sword Monk and not Ak'a Hais Toh or something-Link just isn't very creative.
@@BigBadLenn I mean how can you rationalize a realm outside known existence? Why would those monks even be there? Are they beings that can be sensed but only visualized a certain way because Link can't truly perceive their form? That's the thing - once we leave corporeal existence anything can be anything. That's why I don't see the point in connected the sacred realm to this or anything else that isn't stated. I just seems to me like Link is fightng his internalized monsters. That's the only real way to become one with the sword. That has as much grounding as any other theory, which is to say none. It's just a better plot devise.
Bro I don't know how you do it but the way you edit the music and make transitions seamless while at the same time carrying a rhythm in your reading (audio book quality narration) is off the charts. I've seen your channel grow from a while ago and even though I don't always agree with your way of reasoning some lore, I think you bring something great to the community. I feel you're one of the guys who started growing this youtube sphere of Zelda theories akin to what VaatiVidya and EpicNameBro did for the Souls series. No matter the subject, you've got a knack for storytelling which you put to great use in doing what I've mentioned above. Great work!
Damn, I never noticed that the trial monks had the same poses as the seven sages sealing Ganondorf at the end of Ocarina of Time. I was just happy that each part of the trials were over, such amazing attention to detail! And I never knew about the seven Sages Symbols on the round "antechamber" before the doors to the Temple of Hylia at the end of Skyward Sword before either! You truly learn something new every day. I really like the idea that the Trial of the Sword is something mental that exists in Link's mind! (Maybe Fi herself plays are role in that.)
I didnt even notice that they were posed like the sages. I mean when I counted that there was seven of them I figured it was referring to something but damn that is cool
Wow this theory is so cool! I just love how people behind the series watch over every detail and make connections with the older games and that just urges people to search 4 them , feels rewarding and satisfying! Can't wait 4 another theory, Zeltik u rock!
The theories about BotW are by far the best part about it, the way everything is so mysterious and that its kind of up to us to figure out and make our own minds up about what has happened much like the characters within the game itself
The cunning brilliance of Aonuma and Miyamoto. While publically downplaying the importance of story, they build a world absolutely chalked full of it, only if one is willing to look for it.
Glad more people aren't upset about the lack of a more "spelled out story" and appreciate the minimalistic approach to exposition and a focus on exploration and details. I see so many posts of people who are upset or hoping to see a return of past characters in the sequel. I think this game was a return to form, like the OG legend of Zelda, where exploration was key and silly arguments over a timeline (which was never part of the series outside of fan service) can move aside for more interesting concepts.
Zeltik, just want ya to know its because of your videos and enthusiasm that 2 years later I went and began breath of the wild. Currently downed two sacred beasts, and my god this game is amazing. Then you peel back the layers of this game with every vid ya drop...this game is masterpiece and cannot wait for boftw2!
I really gotta hand it to you with the background music. I love that you used tracks from so many different titles (TP, WW, SS, ALBTW, OOT, etc.) I love the use of Sky Keep for this one. Not only did it fit well, but it's such a great track that doesn't get much attention (since it was in a very small area of a not-as-liked game).
I've been listening to this channel while playing BoTW for the first time, and low and behold, I am working my way down the Trials to finish The Master Sword. You remind me of a LoZ, Vaata. Cheers, it makes up for the utter lack of music in this otherwise near perfect game.
I really enjoy your videos, and your presentation is enjoyable in that you have a great voice and vocabulary for this kind of content. One thing that I don't quite enjoy, though, is that you tend to repeat yourself towards the end of the video. One way to avoid this is to provide an actual structured summary or simply hide the repeat by using synonyms. Keep up the good work, love your theories!
Thank you Kimble for suggesting this video idea! And thank you Zeltik for making it i didnt play BOTW unfortunately but this was amazing i love lore and i guarantee that it is the sacred realm! But i hope they uncover more about the Sacred Realm in future Zelda Titles
The Trial is seriously one of the best if not the best designed content in the whole franchise. Doesn't matter how often I play through it. It's a blast everytime. Every mechanic, enemy and system gets used in it. Perfection.
And again, I'm blown away. I've always thought that the silent reall and trial of the sword seemed similar but I didn't think much of it. Now...imma go beat the trial of the sword again... And the sages making the master sword, I've never thought about that
If there's only one thing that link (no pun intended) Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Breath of The Wild, it's use of replacing the master sword to move forward.
I didn't notice the poses before, but I did think that the trial was connected to the sacred realm. Is always nice to see these theories match your crazy ideas XD
I never noticed some of the things like the markings on Hylias temple about the sages being around way before I thought they were thanks Zeltik I will no longer be able to do homework because my mind was blown by this video
I love this theory. It explains so well how the Trial could work and makes perfect sense.I always wondered how guardians corrupted by Calamity Ganon made it into the Trials, even though the other guardians in the normal shrines aren´t corrupted.
The last monk represents Zelda in OOT, as he does the same pose that she does when she blasts Ganon and holds him down. BUT, more recently, he does the exact same pose as King Rauru in TotK when he uses his power to repel Ganondorf’s forces. It’s a neat detail that ties the Zonai King back to the rest of Zelda Lore, and even Princess Zelda herself.
In a previous video you mentioned that Link takes on an archetypal role of healer upon a diseased land. That kicking around in my head while watching this made me wonder if Link isn't only a healer, but a shaman? A shaman, in traditional cultures where it's still practiced, is a healer, a spiritual leader of sorts, a sorcerer, and was also at one point in history, a warrior who fought in the name of the god(s) who singled them out alongside the warriors of his community unit. Link seems to fulfill most if not all of these roles in every Zelda game I've played (no, I haven't played them all). He even walks between worlds like shamans do (Silent Realm, Sacred Realm, going back and forth through time, using timeshift stones, etc), though he's not a politician so you won't see him on a throne. He's a helper, relationship advisor, repairman, sorcerer and priest to a lesser extent, and is consistently chosen by the Goddess Hylia or her female descendants each time he is reincarnated during a time of need. Various occult sources informed by much older indigenous cultures also say that a family's blood curses and blood gifts are passed down through the females, while spirit-curses and spirit-gifts are passed through the males and almost never stay within the same bloodline unless the male whose spirit carries them is reincarnated into that same bloodline. Also, in these cultures, a woman can't become a shaman until she's entered into menopause, typically after a lifetime of training from the elder-women of the community (and after she's had the several kids expected of her by the community as well). Having studied these things out of interest over the years, it informs my views and opinions of the Zelda series as a whole as well as each individual game (that I've played, anyways). It also has me wondering about the cosmology of the Zelda universe as well as the entire pantheon of gods and their cthonic history as well: where did the three goddesses come from and who/what sired them? Was Demise's initial role to be something similar to Typhon, Apep, or Tezcatlipoca and the gods decided to dick around with mortal lives who ended up screwing things up? Oops, my brain and hands ran away with me again. Back on track: I feel that Link is something of a shaman, the god who chose him is Hylia, and the sacred item he uses to do his work and travel between worlds is the Master Sword. :-) I really did try to shorten this comment...
If the Sheikah have the capacity to create and destroy gateways to the sacred realm, it would explain why the Master Sword had been moved to different non public locations after OoT... maybe. Excellent theory!
10:48 Bear in mind that these legends are often spoke via word of mouth rather than being written down. Thus details might be lost or changed based on the speaker.
The seventh monk holds the shape zelda used in oot when she blasted Ganon and held him down. Right before link gave his final blow.

AND HE PINNED ME
Nice
This blew my mind especially the part where the monks do the same poses, never noticed that. I'm pretty sure this is an unconfirmed truth regarding the lore behind the sacred realm Very well done my friend and as always I look forward to your next video. (:
What a video man! Class work as always and fantastic job to all the people credited! :D
O my gosh!! I cant believe he did my video!! Im so excited! Thank you zeltik!! So glad you made a website I could submit my theory.
The silent realm brought out the scariest enemies
The truest guardians that exist in there, hhhh shiver
Master, your joycons are low.
I mean…..you were half right
@@SamLinDuer eh, more like 1/3 right. Sages, but not these ones... and the game is DEFINITELY not darker than Majora.
@@Goodbutevilgenius Listen, math aint my strongest 😭
Also, the Dark World in A Link to the Past is the corrupted Sacred Realm.
WAHHHHHHHH THAT'S SO COOOOOL SO NEAT
please talk Zelda to me all you want ;W ;
OwO
yknow, most of this video (to me, at least) is in that 'grey area' of theories, where "yeah, this makes sense, and theres nothing in the games saying its NOT true", because its all being held together loosely enough to allow the wiggle-room that good theories need...but the part that has me tripping the most balls is the Seven Monks mimicking the hand-signs of the "Six +1" Sages (with Zelda herself fitting into that 7th slot)...no wonder Nintendo took their sweet time making this game-- it needed all the time it could to marinate in the creative juices, to soak in every speck of seasoning thrown into it...if the other games only had bits of yarn tying two parts together, BotW was a massive golden spike driven through each and every one of them...from LonLon Ranch Ruins to Mabe Village, BotW has a reference to just about every other Zelda game (minus perhaps the CD-i games, unless im forgetting a 'Gamelon River' or a 'Tolemac Ridge' or something)...i love how i can still find new tidbits of trivia, or an extra easter egg, in a game that ive owned for almost Two Years now (got my Switch for Christmas'17; beat Ganon about a week into January'18 xD)...
...its almost like Nintendo tried to put as much thought into their "Legendary" series, as Zeltik puts into his videos unravelling them xD
That's a good point.
Correction: the central monk might be replicating Zelda when she used her power to help seal Ganon during OOT.
You really have something special here my friend. Your videos are beginning to transcend the simplicity of RUclips. You are a fantastic story teller. This video..... with how you prove and disprove various game references/notions is exemplary. Nintendo..... I hope you are watching this guy. He is ready for the next step.
That’s such a cool theory!
Unless those sheika monks are the Sages by BOTW time
@@BigBadLenn I mean how can you rationalize a realm outside known existence? Why would those monks even be there? Are they beings that can be sensed but only visualized a certain way because Link can't truly perceive their form?
That's the thing - once we leave corporeal existence anything can be anything. That's why I don't see the point in connected the sacred realm to this or anything else that isn't stated. I just seems to me like Link is fightng his internalized monsters. That's the only real way to become one with the sword. That has as much grounding as any other theory, which is to say none. It's just a better plot devise.
They are clearly the trials of strength, courage and wisdom... and i remember failing the wisdom test
Your analysis are always on point, man. I mean it, you're truly amazing!
@10:48
The Goddess Sword looks vaguely like the sword on the cover art for AoL...my favorite Zelda Game.
The trial of the sword was the most challenging thing I've ever done in a zelda game. And beating it was so satisfying.
I love this theory, there's so much untold world building in this series and I love the connections made here.
Omg that intro music you got is so good! But every time I see you post a video I already excited! Keep up the amazing work!
Whoa this was a really interesting take on the Trial of the Sword. :o That's so cool!
Again, Zeltik is Zelda lore king. Well done on another awesome deep look into Zelda!
Absolutely incredible. These are by far some of THE greatest videos on RUclips.
Hinoxen... now there’s a plural you don’t hear every day haha
Glad someone else heard that too lol
I’ve been binge watching your videos recently and it’s inspired me to go back and play ocarina of time and Majora’s mask on N64..... thank you
Zeltik, you never fail to blow my mind. This is a very convincing theory, and you gave be goosebumps on the last part!
I thought the trial of the sword reminded me of a skyward sword silent realm
uyes
*That transition from the intro to Hyrule Castle was smooth af and it gave me chills. Good job, Zelty*
You bring up a lot of good points in this video and your editing is spectacular! Keep up the amazing work👍😁
That Forest Temple music is so good! That Sheikah Tower theme is so good!
God damn Zeltik.... Thank you for your thoughtfulness... You make this series more enjoyable.
Skyword Sword was amazing. So underrated, I absolutely love it.
One of the only videos that I can truly and fully believe everything that’s said. Very well done
I love all your zelda videos! the botw ones are the best! Keep up the good work
You're an excellent storyteller for sharing us the info about anything to do with The Legend of Zelda franchise, especially BOTW🙂👍🏾💯
Perfection.
I love this channel so much! Keep up the great work!
Both you and Kimble did a fantastic job!
And again, I'm blown away. I've always thought that the silent reall and trial of the sword seemed similar but I didn't think much of it. Now...imma go beat the trial of the sword again...
And the sages making the master sword, I've never thought about that
Alright, Zeltik, I'll download the DLC. Aneurysms incoming...
Stevie. No doooonnnttt! It's so hard!!!!
Btw play champions ballad, its awesome

I started last night. Wish me luck!

If there's only one thing that link (no pun intended) Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Breath of The Wild, it's use of replacing the master sword to move forward.
I love your style of video! Keep up the good work!
Your voice and your breakdowns are both fantastic.
This is my favorite video of yours lately.
Dude your videos are always cool as hell. I love them always!
I didn't notice the poses before, but I did think that the trial was connected to the sacred realm. Is always nice to see these theories match your crazy ideas XD
I had this thought myself. Cool to see a video on it and the connections to other games.
I never noticed some of the things like the markings on Hylias temple about the sages being around way before I thought they were thanks Zeltik I will no longer be able to do homework because my mind was blown by this video
So many details! You're incredible!
8: 10 Man, if that monk had just taught Link the Ki-Ko-Ho instead, he wouldn't be having this problem
YALL KNOW I SMASHED THAT DAMN BELL!
that was incredible... I would love to see and explore the ascended dimension of the gods and the sacred realm
15min never passed so quickly. Great job
Beating this trial is definitely the best part of the game Caz it’s hella satisfying to win
I love this theory. It explains so well how the Trial could work and makes perfect sense.I always wondered how guardians corrupted by Calamity Ganon made it into the Trials, even though the other guardians in the normal shrines aren´t corrupted.
I personally think the Trial of the Sword is just a simulation made by the Sheikah with an ancient computer powered by and ancient furnace.
The fact that the statement itself eludes to the sacred realm (illusory realm of sacred power) is what really sells it.
Zeltik is the only youtuber i turned on post notification for
That thumbnail broo !!! 🔥🔥 good theory also 👌🏽
Very well done. You’re the best in the business. 😃
Zelda never loses my attention it's always burning with excitement
I really think that the trial of the sword is inside the sword itself. But it was a really nice vid. Keep up the good work!
Great video Zeltik!
Bring back zeltik plays
If the Sheikah have the capacity to create and destroy gateways to the sacred realm, it would explain why the Master Sword had been moved to different non public locations after OoT... maybe.
Excellent theory!
Another great video @Zeltik Nintendo should hire you to work on the next game in the series “BOTW 2” 😊
Sacred realm, seven monks, Seven Sages.............Ohhhhhhh
Dat makes sense
The sacred realm is shaped by the desires of the last person to hold the entire Triforce, so the sacred realm changes perpetually by its very nature.
10:48 Bear in mind that these legends are often spoke via word of mouth rather than being written down. Thus details might be lost or changed based on the speaker.
Tri force: exists
3 goddesses: Imma head out now
You were right Kimble.
Great Observation!
