- Ever heard of Spaghetti Ice Cream? It's a German invention made by Italian immigrant and ice cream manufacturer Dario Fontanella. He first created the ice cream as Spaghettis back in 1969, using a simple german noodle press. Dario Fontanella still runs the ice cream parlor in the german city of Mannheim. He shows you how to make Spaghetti Ice Cream yourself! Did you ever try "Spaghettieis", which is your favorite ice cream? Tell us in the comments.

The most honorable mention about Dario Fontanella is that he never patented his invention which he created with so much hardship, cost of resources and experimentation; all this so that the world may get a taste of Spaghetti ice cream, thanks to the advice of his father and the lawyer friend.
okay so, as a german i find it so weird that people dont know about Spaghetti Ice Cream! I grew up with it and I'm kinda baffled it is a German thing!
Today is the first time I ever heard about it.. 😅 I'm from Finland (and 28y). 😁 But I would love to try it!
me too i thought when i go to an italian cafe i just get italian things i needed about 12 years to realize its german
Used to live in a german army camp with parents and then we always used to go out to Belgium and get the desert lol
One of the many things I miss about being stationed in Germany is Spaghetti Ice Cream. 40 years later, I still haven't seen it it any ice cream parlor in the USA.
it's hilarious. i went to Germany to visit family back in the early 2000s and i saw it and i thought it was so cool.
they opened a European ice cream parlor here in Wisconsin and when people at my church saw Spaghettieis, they were absolutely shocked. I had to explain what it was lmfaooooo. It's sad b/c the ice cream parlor closed :( but spaghettieis is actually pretty simple to make at home
As an American who was in Germany on an exchange for a month, Spaghetti Eis is amazing!!! I’m learning to make it here in the US.
So true😋
We will watch your career with great interest
How i've been three times in Berlin and one in Hamburg and I'VE NOT BEEN AWARE OF THIS!??
First thing i'm gonna try next time i go, i swear! :P
I was around 4 when I had my first in Rheinau EisCafe ...1966
still miss it ..
I will be back soon ...yeayy!!!
The BEST ice cream on the whole planet!!!
We need to work out how to add the "minced beef" (chocolate ice cream creeam?) for ice cream Bolognese.
In fact I have had lasagne ice cream in one place here in germany.^^
@@fatdad64able never knew that existed, cool
Some Eiscafes have a whole menu of Spaghetti Eis.
Bonito - with chocolate and bananas,
Pesto - with kiwifruit
Carbonara with caramellsauce and nuts and so on.
I just read about this on reddit, I'm going to get some ice cream and a spaghetti press. Does is affect the consistency in a favorable way?
The icecream itself shoud not be too hard, so it's just another kind of soft after becoming Spaghetti...
I 've tried it myself with a spaetzle press and it didn't work well. Either the ice cream is too hard, then you can't squeeze it, or if it is any softer, there'l be molten (liquid) ice cream squirting all over the place. If you take a close look at his press, you'll see a dark(rubber?) Ring around the outside of the plunger, so the equipment is somewhat more specialized.
@@fatdad64able all tools need to be cool!
@@buctavia2269 Ooooh, I see. Hey, that makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for the advice.^^
We make spaghetti eis at home. You need a potato ricer. It works well.
0:20 Dario looks like he's planning something not appropriate.
Honestly I never heard of it before.
If you ever get the chance you should definitely try it!
I lived in Mannheim and have been to that place a few times. I had no idea!
2:03 impressive
I lived in Germany in 92-94 and would get this at the Freibad (swimming pools) when we lived in Heidelberg
Yum yum😋
I haven't had one of these since I left Heidelberg.
Greetings from the Scottish Highlands.🏴🦄

Looks Tasty this dessert!!
So much fun!

Just we need. Another messy spaghetti food.
3:04 Yeahh um, which cream, the ice cream or the slightly frozen whipped cream inside? You know that they are both creams and they are both frozen, right darling?
She's referring to the whipped cream which is covered by the spaghetti ice cream. Yum!
@@dweuromaxx Thx

You'll find the answer when you search for "Dario Fontanella and Mannheim, Germany"
You can find this in every ice cream parlor or Café in Germany.

Uh huh. Lol
My life is an a actual lie to be honest
Mannheim ist Italienisch

Only Americans eat meatballs with their spaghetti.

Bin ich der einzige deutsche der noch nie Spagettieis gegessen hat xD
Jaaaa
Whut?
Jo
Ich hoffe du hast es mittlerweile nachgeholt
I think as a people we cannot stand still for 50 years. We need to move on. Who wants to invent BLUTWURST-ICECREAM?
Anton Chigurh hold my beer...
Wait till he finds out about the russian chocolate sausage....
I was expecting actually pasta, 😑
Well, as the title says: This is NO Spaghetti ;-)
So he had a great idea, but his icecream in made from pre-fab powders. Shame.
Gross
The total opposite, mate.
@@wasweiich9991 would you eat "black beans ice cream"? When I see that "dish" I get a taste of a fine cheese and salty tomato sauce, but then I read "Ice cream" It get twisted. To me.
@@marlonsantana21 Actually.. yes.. i would! Because i frankly am not too superficial to givea damn about that. If it tastes good, it's good with me.
@@marlonsantana21 Bruh, firstly I think you meant _Red_ bean ice cream, from Japan, not China.
Second, it tastes pretty good after having a nice sushi meal. Third, spaghettieis is better than any ice cream dish you will ever taste, despite my serious doubt in you having *any* taste.
Jog on, Schmuck.
@@TeamBelmont91 Black beans. From Brasil. If that ice cream does not visually attracts me It does not mean I don't have good taste or that you do, It just means we have different taste. Grow up.
